8 exams coming

So yes I have 8 exams coming and I've been stuying but not enough. I feel like the serious work needs to start, it needs to start. Not sure though exactly though how I mean, I know how but I'm feeling lazy because I still have a week and a half. I actually do have afew housekeeping tasks with school too, yes I do. So I know where to start but I'm still in the slow inertial phase, where my inactivity has lead me to a stand still ha.

New here as well, and here's my introductory post!

Hi all,

For quite obvious reasons (and even more so for me personally) I'm afraid that I can't really introduce myself by my name, so instead I will introduce myself as Snebbu! I shall warn you in advance though, it's quite a long story so my apologies for that! I tried to keep it relatively short.

your mind tricks you

This is a continuation of an earlier post, this post is very aggressive ha I just feel like going on my soap box today muahauahuaha, but I hope it hits home with some people.

Hello, I would like to introduce myself to P.A.

Hi,

I am so glad I found P.A.    I have been a C.P. most my life . In the last 3 years my life has really become unmanageable.

I suffer from Major Depression and Anxity Disorder with some Agraphobia thrown in.  I tend to isolate and have no social life now .  :-(

I have a long list of projects to do but instead I suff  the web and play on line games.  I feel very overwhelmed most the time when it comes to getting things done.

New here, just checking in.

Hi,

I stumbled upon the site searching on ways how to beat procrastination...
I used to be driven, motivated and inspired. Now, maybe just driven... but driven totally by fear... Fear of failure and of my perfectionism.

Question about Time Bingeing

I have many interests which require a lot of work to develop and I have very little time.

Every
day I work till 18 o'clock, then I travel home for about 1.5 hour,
have a dinner, have a shower and as a result I can start working at
about 21 o'clock in the evening. In 23 o'clock I must go to bed if I
want to wake up without problems in the morning.

Now about my interests:

In a BIG hole

Good Morning everyone,

I'm grateful for this forum. I am seeing
positive change in my life and encouragement. But I know if I don't
keep working my program, that will change quickly into disappointment,
despair and blaming others.

Yo working with the flow

Hello

This is very telling. Just on a whim I'm looking up Procrastinators Anonymous, and I read the signs, and I'm so shocked--like THIS IS ME and I'm on the edge and desperate, like my husband is talking about leaving me because of my problem, that I really didn't know what it was until I had a moment of clarity and found this site. And then I try to register...but it looks like I've already been registered for almost THREE YEARS...

New guy

Hello everyone. I am Joe and I am definitely a procrastinator. I procrastinate in everything I have to do. From home life, work, school, even church; I procradtinate and I don't like it. I would love to change. It is very hard especially when you're used to it. I hope that this group will give me insight and better ways to do things. Procrastination definitely can cause stress and I do not need any unnecessary stress.

I have enjoyed reading a lot of the post. Thanks for what I have read so far. I hope to continue to receive some help.

Brainwave entrainment

I have difficulties starting to study, and I deal with those through microbursts.  But I also have a problem focusing on the textbook after I finally sit down to study. I’m fairly certain I have ADD, because every little noise (or even thought) distracts me from the subject.

In Need of a Real Addiction

How I scaled back my procrastination 30% last semester.

Hi guys,

well as you've known I passed all my classes in medical school last semester because I learned to scale back my procrastination. Using various techniques. this semester I'd say I scaled it back another 20 percent. So I'd say I'm running at about  50% of my optimal work output. I'd like to share some of my tips and would like for others to share there tips so together we could get closerto 100.

Technique 1: Read one slide, one sentence, one idea, open to the first page of the chapter. Just do something tiny tiny to get started.

Two Tips that work for me.

For the people that need to get school work done/sit down work. Easy tip, go to the library. It's so simple, but it works. At the iibrary, there are many good things going for you. 1. Peer pressure, lots of people studying makes you want to studying too. 2. Distractions at home are gone! You can focus now. The mom yelling at you, siblings or people walking by, TV, refrigerator, game machines, your room, etc., all gone. There are many more good things about the library, I'll let you guys discover them.

Question about check-ins and chatbox

It seems that these are places for to-do lists (in the case of check-ins) and actively engaging with tasks (for the chatbox).  In other words, places for getting things done, which is what I am trying to avoid anyway.  I guess when I really set my mind to something, I'll do it.  Problem is, I am reluctant to make plans in the first place..  Procrastination got smarter?  Maybe it realized that once I decide to do something, I will carry it to completion; solution = not let me decide on any plans to begin with.

Hello

Hello, I'm a procrastinator and have had enough of it. Deciding to make small changes that hopefully stick.

I think I procrastinate basically because I'm lazy to apply my energies to the task at hand and instead like pleasurable activities like browsing the net, watching sit coms etc.

I guess, that's about it. Hello again and have a fantastic day :-)

The Little Prince

I found this in a great book - The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. And I realized it is a great analogy to procrastination. It is a dialog between the little prince and an alcoholic:

I need help

Hi

I've been a chronic procrastinator all my life. It is ruining my life. My affliction is where I just can't rip myself off of the thing I'm using to procrastinate with (ie the computer). Then I get stuck in this mindset and I just want to procrastinate more and more. It is so bad for me that I believe that I know that I need outside help in order to be able to do what I have to do. Even when someone tells me to do something I have to do I desire to procrastinate instead. It's so bad. When I do what I have to do I dream of procrastinating instead. It's sick!

Hello Ladies and Gents

Hello - Serious Procrastinator here, it is possible I could lose it ALL

Hello,
I have known that I am a procrastinator most of my life. The last seven years I have focussed on watching myself, as I procrastinate.
I have had plenty of opportunity, the means, and knowledge to really "get ahead" the last seven years, but have pretty much blown it by not doing the work and chores needed to accomplish my goals.
It is almost like I am possessed or something - I have no problem playing games on the net or surfing the net; however I have really problems when it comes to doing the most important things on my list.
