Hazyjane check-in wednesday 10th December

Am checking in really late, but have had a productive day, well, kind of. Am somewhat basking in the glow of having handed in an assignment, which was a real achievement. Thanks to P-A and all who sail in her :).

So, still behind and being a bit cavalier about it at this stage (how dare I??!! After all that pain, anxiety and stress??!!) but the work I need to produce for my last class of the term tomorrow is purely creative and individual and preparatory, it's not getting marked in other words, though it may be critiqued...anyway that's what I'm going to do now.

And tomorrow will have to be up early to get to uni on time for once (9am classes are such a bad timetabling decision...)

Ok, I really am here with my back against the wall. I have to write an essay today that should have been handed in yesterday. I screwed up. I have a problem with self-belief, self-confidence, and dyspraxia, and I keep repeating the same mistakes and thinking 'this time it will be different'...

So, just break what I have to do down into smaller chunks:

  • first hour: 500 words???? Doable, right??
  • second hour: 800 words. About your case study. Definitely doable. Be positive
  • before I leave for appointment, review what I've done so far.
  • go to first appointment
  • go to second appointment
  • walk the dogs quickly
  • get back to work (in library) by 5pm
  • first hour: 500 words
  • second hour: 300 words
  • third hour review, connect writing, wrap up.
  • really you're out of time now!!! Wrap up!!!
  • submit essay by 10pm.
  • Go home and weep...

HI all!,

I have a list on my notepad that I am not going to spend time transferring here, but checking in that I am working on it.

three items in progress, nothing else I can do on them, moving on to another item

Hazyjane check-in Monday 8th December

I have the tiniest breathing space, the scary presentation got done (a very basic effort, minimalistic I'd say, but adequate) which is a relief/anti-climax... and to think I was seriously thinking of not doing it and not going into class and throwing it away... man that was seriously INSANE thinking... but it's insane thinking that brought me here...

So, the next thing to do, once I've had lunch, is to whack out this essay, it has to be submitted tonight... very important that I pray for help to get this done!!!! I can't acheive this on my own.

I might start writing the bibliography and cover note now anyway, just to not be panicking at the last minute and getting penalised by submitting late.

Hazyjane check-in sunday 7th December

After a really 'in-my-disease' sort of day yesterday, today I want to be more positive and get the things done that need to get done. I am in fear, no doubt about it, and I have an urgent desire to bury my head in the sand, but I mustn't do that. I MUST persevere, I OWE IT TO MYSELF.

Nonetheless, I do need to walk the dogs, so am going to do that shortly, but when I get back... just write, get as many words written as possible, and don't stress over the quality, it's meant to be rubbish because it's a FIRST DRAFT... of an essay that's due to be handed in tomorrow...but get the first draft written today and polish it off tomorrow, just GET DOWN TO IT!!!!!!

I shall use the chatroom to keep focus. My wordfeud addiction needs to be tamed also.

I am really fed up, I don't know what to do my presentation on, I don't know how to get my essay written, started even: my deadlines are on top of me, and once these two really urgent assignments are done, there's more, more more MORE!!! I'm drowning. And still in bed. Have to get up/walk the dogs. Big sigh. Just begin.

re: procrastinating over assignments...

A couple of days ago you TOLD yourself what you needed to do, and you didn't do it. Lack of commitment. Sheer determination might have made you make some progress, but instead you display this...compulsive wishy-washiness!!!!!

Jane, you have to suck it up, and work!!! And be crap, be crap but do it!!!! It'll be over soon, if you never finish it you'll regret it, so just... breathe... and do it... a bit at a time, a bit at a time, a bit at a time.

It's almost noon already and I have only just arrived at the library. Plan is to get my essay written, first fraft anyway, today...but I also have to decide on my presentation topic and case study for Monday, and work on that.

I confesss I have wasted time and feel bad as a result. I only have a few hours, I need to use them well. I need to use my brain!!!

Ok, chatroom, burst, essay-writing for 1 hour, then a meeting, then back to the library to work solidly through the afternoon.

Hazyjane check-in tuesday 2nd December

Awoke naturally at 7.30am, prayed and meditated, juiced, did morning pages back in bed, read for a little bit, got up and walked the dogs. Did the recycling, started tidying up, found a bill I needed to pay so got on the computer and lo and behold, half an hour sucked away... annoying...

But it's also got me to check in, so that's good :).

  • brush teeth/wash face etc
  • get ready to put a couple of hours in at the library this afternoon
  • leave for meeting 12-1.30
  • get to therapy 2.15-3.15
  • go to library 3.30-5.30/6
  • try and pick up bike at some point
  • get home, walk dogs, shop, cook
  • meditate
  • have bath
  • bed

hazyjane ci monday 1st December

Am skipping class today because I didn't do any prep yesterday... I did get started, but I fell into that trap of second-guessing myself, changing my mind about the question, getting in a twist... and of course I took time out to go to a meeting, go to a play (which was very good), and I went to bed early as well (and meditated/tried to meditate first).

So, still very undisciplined, deadlines are coming thick and fast, and I have to be ready for my 3pm tutorial. So, my plan now (having got up early, prayed and meditated, walked the dogs, had breakfast and juiced... and I cycled to the library for a change, because I need to get more exercise) is to work on my essay plan/outline for my tutorial. How long should that really take? And would it help if I used the mind map software??? Ideally I ought to get a bit of work done on my Shakespeare presentation as well...

Time to hit the chatroom and get bursting.

hazyjane ci Sunday 30th November

Right, I'm giving myself just over an hour to do the prep for tomorrow's class. That is, decide on an essay question, decide what case studies I'll use, and write 300 words outlining these decisions. So:

  • decide on question
  • decide on case studies
  • decide on critical resources
  • write a short piece outlining these decisions to read in seminar.

After that I want to go to a meeting at 5.30 but I'm going to have more work to do for tomorrow:

  • write a page of bullet points for a different essay, to bring to a tutorial
  • get some research under way re early 20th century European writers and society...

I guess I'd better crack on!!!

BATH WASH HAIR

Sunday

Hazyjane check-in saturday 29th November

It's pretty late, I haven't done the one thing (yet) that I said I'd do, but I've had a nice day, had a little excursion, had a change of scene... and I will now go and dye my hair, like I meant to do this morning!!!

Maintenance Tasks, try something new FYI:Thanksgiving Weekend Declutterthon, November 28 – 30, 2014

Call in anytime between 11:00 am ET to 6:00 pm ET each day at 712-432-3900, access code 727176#

During these Declutterthon sessions, we BRIEFLY state our focused action that we intend to accomplish in each 1-hour session.(or you can just listen) During quiet times, moderators may read from CLA or AA literature between check-ins.There will be a special speaker meeting each day at 6:00 pm ET.
"Declutter Your Mind:Often our minds are filled with trivia; we fail to recognize what is really important. We cannot find serenity because our thought processes are clogged with self-defeating, irrelevant ideas. Or we are overwhelmed by endless distractions.
Our minds, which should be attuned to inner guidance, are diverted by maintenance chores or sorting through too many choices. If we are disorganized, even more time is lost. No matter whether our clutter is orderly or not, it means we are wasting precious thought power."
