Procrastinators Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from chronic procrastination.
I came across this website and thought PAers might like this ... I have not read through this whole site yet, but at first glance it looks like just the sort of thing many of us might benefit from, since we love those lists!
I am in mega-procrastination mode and I need help from God today.
I have figured out that my extreme perfectionism is the root cause of it. It's not that I am unmotivated or unambitious, in fact it is that I am TOO motivated and ambitious inwardly. Which is putting SO MUCH PRESSURE ON ME that I can't get anything done. If there is even the slightest chance of something not being "right" I can't get myself to move. Ugh.
I know this comes from my upbringing and it is a pattern only God can break. Lord Jesus, please remove this yoke from me and my thinking. I just can't change this on my own, never have been able to.
Lord, I won't write a list right now. I already know what needs to be done. I already wrote my lists today. It's no use to keep rewriting them.
God please just give me the next right thing to do. That's all I can tolerate. Amen.

I saw your post about your dad and just wanted to send you prayers for his healing in and out of the hospital. May he receive the best medical care and quickly be made well. And I pray for your peace as well, Amen.
Very depressed since last night. I feel like I can handle the job tasks today, but not the health. I can't do everything every day. That's not realistic. Maybe today is better for job stuff, and another day can focus on the health. Maybe switching every other day? I'll let God figure it out.

"Inherent in every intention and desire is the mechanics for its

So bit of a shock yesterday as found out my dad is I hospital for bilateral pneumonia in a very different country to where I live and work - bit stressful as not quite sure how sick he is or the level of care but I have a strange peace that this illness has forced his workaholic person to stop. Mm that sounded wrong but you hopefully get what I mean.
Meanwhile, his insomniac anxious daughter across the globe has 2 days off - well 1.5 as slept in after going to b Ed late.
I am powerless over my procrastination and recognise my need for the will and power of God.
I have slacked off this weekend on the meditation and exercise front, and I know how dangerous that is for me: once I stop doing something, restarting it is twice the effort, I come up with all sorts of excuses and justifications. But I'm outing myself here and actually making a commitment to doing the 7minute workout and the ten minutes meditation that have been good, enjoyable components of my morning routine for the last while.
I'll check in properly after I've done it.
___________________________________________________________________________ It's an inside job...
Did my workout and meditation, haven't stuck to my original plan though of doing some brainstorming/free writing to prepare for this afternoon's class. So I'll try to do that on the train...
|But I did get quite a few things done that needed doing, and have to applaud myself for this.
Busy through to evening now, no time for chatbox :(.
___________________________________________________________________________ It's an inside job...
How frustrating!! Best laid plans and all that... nope, I don't believe I really had a decent plan in place, I'm still quite resistant to that idea...why??? If it would help??
But self-criticism DOES NOT HELP so patting myself on the back for getting ONE piece of work done at least (well, almost finished...). And I'm ok.
___________________________________________________________________________ It's an inside job...
Had a long day and wasn't as well-prepared for uni as I ought to have been, am finished for the week though so tomorrow will crack the whip (lovingly) and get some traction on the reading and coursework and basic intellectual/artistic/creative enquiry work that I'm meant to be doing.
But the main thing is, I'm still here, I haven't given up!! :)
___________________________________________________________________________ It's an inside job...
Just need to speak my truth, bc I tried to shrug it off but I feel bad .. I really liked the chatbox for support with most being so supportive, just to bookend, but to be repeatedly slighted (as in, ignored every time) if only by one person for no reason whatsoever is making me feel really uncomfortable. It feels silly and sad, but obvious by now that it's not from timeouts or reloads, lol. I'm nice to everyone, try to always say hi (and of course no one can respond to everyone all the time in that format, which I get), and yet being ignored in someone's obvious presence is just not something necessary where instead I need support like everyone else. What do you do when you're the only one refused a simple "hi!"? After giving the benefit of the doubt and repeatedly saying hi yourself ... You give up and move on. In life there's always going to be one who just doesn't like me, which is weird here because I'm anonymous and just posting my activities and feelings to process them. I can live with not everyone liking me, but don't need to be around it on a daily basis for hours straight when I didn't do anything wrong. I really love everyone here at PA otherwise. That's why I keep coming back bc we get each other.
I'll just do more posts on the Bookend thread I guess Besides, once I get the job, the chatbox during daytime will not be an option anyway so I should get used to not using it.
I am really sorry you feel that way. It took me along time to use the chatbox and I have a different perspective about it. Maybe I am "wrong" I did not think it was any more than a book end and the additional tabs were for one on one support/coaching?
Hi vic, thanks for your post. I'm learning that everyone uses chat in different ways and it's not the easiest format to gauge where anyone is at in any given moment :) I always like seeing your brief pop-ins too for solidarity. Best wishes, RisingUp
Thanks RisingUp, so true, I even left PA at one time and had to develop "principles before personalities" thinking here, and only came back because a few paer's contacted me. Even if I can only use the chat box to ck in, please know I support you and your success with all my heart. Solidarity, sincerely, Vic

And I'm ok.

hazyjane ci Thursday 22nd January late check in
Had a long day and wasn't as well-prepared for uni as I ought to have been, am finished for the week though so tomorrow will crack the whip (lovingly) and get some traction on the reading and coursework and basic intellectual/artistic/creative enquiry work that I'm meant to be doing.
But the main thing is, I'm still here, I haven't given up!! :)

RisingUp Day 36: Monday, January 19, 2015
Anyway, to-do list for today:
Apply to 10 jobs

I am really sorry you feel that way. It took me along time to use the chatbox and I have a different perspective about it. Maybe I am "wrong" I did not think it was any more than a book end and the additional tabs were for one on one support/coaching?
PS :PA(ers) are all VERY important to me.
re: ((Vic))
Hi vic, thanks for your post. I'm learning that everyone uses chat in different ways and it's not the easiest format to gauge where anyone is at in any given moment :) I always like seeing your brief pop-ins too for solidarity. Best wishes, RisingUp
(RU)
Thanks RisingUp, so true, I even left PA at one time and had to develop "principles before personalities" thinking here, and only came back because a few paer's contacted me. Even if I can only use the chat box to ck in, please know I support you and your success with all my heart. Solidarity, sincerely, Vic
