I'm currently writing my last exam paper. The deadline is Monday 2pm and I still have a lot of work to do.
So today my list of tasks goes like this:
Finish open coding
Make the start coding list
Do closed coding
Make the end coding list
Make a display
Make a cause effect chart for assign. 1
Do the writing for assign. 1
Do the writing for assign. 2
If theres time, come up with ideas for assign. 3. (can be done monday morning)
I'll be in the chatroom for the next 24 hours pretty much!
Ok so I submitted the paper and the end result was pretty awful. I can't even
be upset, because it's so hilariously bad and I got started so comically late.
My procrastination habits havent screwed me over this bad since high school I think!
oh well, I might have to do a re-exam and that will be the worst that can happen. I dont' want to, but at least I know the drill now. I'm thinking about seeing a therapist for these issues. I've been batteling them alone for along time but now might be the time to admit that I can't do it all alone.
WELCOME everyone!
Due to a technology issue, the forum has been behaving oddly.
Our member "Lucky" suggested using this MARCH 17th thread for our ongoing "DAILY" check-in posts, because it's available. (Due to the tech glitch, none of us is able to change the name of this thread).
Maintenance tasks, do what works for me, the best I can today.
Keep at It
Keep
practicing your recovery behaviors, even when they feel awkward, even
when they haven't quite taken yet, even if you don't get it yet.
Sometimes
it takes years for a recovery concept to move from our mind into our
heart and soul. We need to work at recovery behaviors with the
diligence, effort, and repeated practice we applied to(procrastination) codependent
behaviors. We need to force ourselves to do things even when they don't
feel natural. We need to tell ourselves we care about ourselves and can
take care of ourselves even when we don't believe what we're saying.
We need to do it, and do it, and do it - day after day, year after year.
It
is unreasonable to expect this new way of life to sink in overnight. We
may have to "act as if" for months, years, before recovery behaviors
become ingrained and natural.
Even after years, we may find ourselves, in times of stress or duress, reverting to old ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving.
We
may have layers of feelings we aren't ready to acknowledge until years
into our recovery. That's okay! When it's time, we will.
Do
not give up! It takes time to get self-love into the core of us. It
takes repeated practice. Time and experience. Lessons, lessons, and more
lessons.
Then, just when we think we've arrived, we find we have more to learn.
That's the joy of recovery. We get to keep learning and growing all of our life!
Keep
on taking care of yourself, no matter what. Keep on plugging away at
recovery behaviors, one day at a time. Keep on loving yourself, even
when it doesn't feel natural. Act as if for as long as necessary, even
if that time period feels longer than necessary.
One
day, it will happen. You will wake up, and find that what you've been
struggling with and working so hard at and forcing yourself to do,
finally feels comfortable. It has hit our soul.
Then, you go on to learn something new and better.
Today,
I will plug away at my recovery behaviors, even if they don't feel
natural. I will force myself to go through the motions even if that
feels awkward. I will work at loving myself until I really do.
Well it's actually rather late! I have had a busy day, it went ok at uni, nice to be back I suppose, although I feel somewhat of an odd-bod there, amongst all those bright young things :).
Class at 9am tomorrow so am going to bed early (10pm??) in order to be up early (6.30am). I have been following a morning routine that I don't want to be disrupted, plus I'll need a shower... so, get up, do morning routine, shower (preceded by body-brushing), make a smoothie and leave by 8.10am, uni 9-1pm, then go and meet up with darling daughter for theatre, 3pm. After that I'm not bothered. More sleep!!! No, I should attempt to get to a meeting :), then sleep...

This prayer started to work for me last night when I broke my depression and got some things done. I did 1 hr. of exercises, and finished my resume! Then this morning I went for my 1/2 hr walk, got my mail, and bought a new calendar. I could not do this in my own will. I asked God to give me HIS grace to want to do things. And after a bad depression yesterday, it broke and I suddenly felt like doing things. I just wanted to, and found myself doing them. There was not a whole lot of thought involved, it was coming from somewhere else. Yeah!
Seek God First. Ask God for help. Seek first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added to me.
"Thank you Jesus for giving me Your Grace to do in your way anything that I feel unable or unwilling to do myself. Amen."
I admit I am powerless over my procrastination and money and need to constantly look to God for each moment as I am only capable of self-sabotage at this stage.
Confession: internet bender last night and shopping online this morning - not essentials, I justified it by buying for other people but it still was not was those moments were for. Forgive me now it is outin the open.
"success is constancy of purpose" Benjamin Disraeli.
Great article about procrastinators and learnngfrom ANTS - so true. As long as my next procrastination isn't about going and buying an ant farm!
I notice that as soon as the pressure is off I slack off... hence only thinking about using the chatbox when I realise that I'm actually meant to be in Uni tomorrow, and that I'm supposed to bring 'stuff' in with me; and have ideas...
Good thing I'm doing affirmations and trying not to be self-critical, otherwise I might be really worried ;)
Ok, am tired, it's 9pm now and I want to go to bed early, but I will spend an hour gathering material, and while I'm at it I can dye my hair, which I've been meaning to do. Still on track for 11pm bedtime.
___________________________________________________________________________ It's an inside job...
I admit. I am powerless and submit to my higher power.
Last night I was just plain rebellious - was sent home from work early (as was v quiet) in order to study. Didn't - had the books out, read may 3 questions MAX, watched a movie I'd already seen, read books and had depressing dreams, surprise surprise couldn't fall asleep easily due to guilt and anxiety, slept in as didn't get to slept until early hours of the morning. Phew. Pretty bleak.
But I have 12 good hours, - aim is 3 sessions on chat box, 2 hours each, rest of time will be a swim, chat w sisters, take sheets to dryer.
Ok, set an alarm this morning so I should be able to be productive this morning!!!
Need to write my 500 word reflection first, which I was meant to do yesterday..
Then get the paperwork organised so everything's ready to submit, apart from the last (major) piece.
Check the time: need to walk the dogs before I meet my friend at 10.30.
I'll be with my friend for a good couple of hours, after that, completely focus on the project: it's slightly mad to think I'll get anything remotely readable done!!! But, think positive!!!!! It actually doesn't have to be a work of genius!!!!!!! Just get it in.
ok, get started.
___________________________________________________________________________ It's an inside job...
I feel much more positive today than I did yesterday, why is that? The acceptance maybe? Also, I have a set amount of work to do, and it's doable. Not easy, not pleasant, as such (not truly UNpleasant either though, really) and it really is a challenge, but if I don't face the challenge and meet it, then I'll really get depressed, and have good reason to!!!
Today, I will finish the reader's reports that I have to write,
I will write the 500 word reflection on the group project,
I will begin the last stage of the assignment, with optional 500 word reflection, to be completed by tomorrow.
Today I also have to open the meeting at 7pm so that cuts into my available time, and I also need to walk the dogs and see about getting this parking ticket cancelled.

Post a message committing to do a specific task during a specified period of time.
At the end of that period of time, post a message reporting on what you did.
This sounds simple-minded, but it's a surprisingly effective tool. It works for several reasons:
It makes you accountable.
It provides social support. People can cheer you on when you
succeed, or encourage you try again when you don't. Plus it ameliorates
the sense of loneliness and isolation that people can feel doing certain
tasks, making them easier to do.
I'm worried, really worried. Have so much to do in such a short time, and am freaking out that I won't get it all done. But the thing is to get as much done as I can, right? No point crying over spilt milk.
Start where you are.
___________________________________________________________________________ It's an inside job...
I admit that I am powerless over my procrastination and debt and that my life had become unmanageable. I came to believe that a Power greater than myself could restore me to sanity and I made a decision to turn my will and my life over to the care of God. I humbly ask God to remove my shortcomings. I pray constantly and unceasingly only for knowledge of God's will for me today and the power to carry that out.
Its not about the tasks - its about listening to the moment and going with the flow of the spirit - today and NOW.
Its not about the money, its about listening to the simplicity of need and contentment - today and NOW.
Today - anatomy, lower limb, just do online tutorial with chat box and timer.
So, the hard part is always to get started. Do it in the low stake way is a possible answer. Because obviously, my immediate thought when I think of what I'm required to produce, is 'oh god that's loads! way too much!!!' and gasp for breath as the anxiety hits... so instead just, create a new document... then go into the chatbox... and set a timer... and start with the basics... and then reward myself with coffee and cake... and then go back into the chatbox and start another burst, a bit longer... and then realise it's getting dark soon so I'd better cycle home... and shop on the way...and get home, and walk the dogs... and then back to the document, maybe I'll have a few more ideas, something will inspire me... or maybe not... but I'll use the chatbox again, and I'll probably do another bit, and then break for dinner, and the radio, but then I'll just get back to it, and it'll get easier, and easier, and easier...
___________________________________________________________________________ It's an inside job...
It is so lovely to see all your familiar tags and comments and support to each other - I fool myself into thinking 'all or nothing' where I should just hang out here all the time instead of when just 'things to do' - semi valid excuse; no internet at home. Which is kind of good for the benders but I probably get more done when I have access to you guys.
So here I am, changed and yet unchanged!
Had day off, didn't study yet. But only 10pm! And wide awake. "don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today" - I aim to finish all of the online lower limb quizzes before 1130 then read a book for an hour. Got a tute tmr so need to be prepped.

Amen."

All is not lost...

Managed to work through most of the q's, got most of the main points.
I'm waiting for my friend who is probe dead to the world post nightshift! Had a chat to my sis.
Plan from now: cuppa, keep up q's, work through interossius m.

Saturday
See you in chat room - little bit at a time...

I CAN START OVER TODAY
hazyjane ci Thursday 8th January *2015*

Reminder: from How and why
Reminder: from How and why check-ins work... post
Checking in (or "book-ending") means doing this:
This sounds simple-minded, but it's a surprisingly effective tool. It works for several reasons:
succeed, or encourage you try again when you don't.

Day at a time...
Box over at 1630 to study w .
Hazyjane check-in Tuesday 6th January

Good to catch up!
