The Overflowing In-Box

I'm not talking about my email in-box, I'm talking about the real, 3-D in-box sitting above my desk in my home office.

New stuff that comes in -- magazines, important mail, etc. etc. -- goes there. But if it isn't super urgent, it STAYS there. And stays. And stays.

Here's why: I have lots of defined tasks most days, and I tend to fear that my in-box will become a time sink of off-topic tasks that take me away from my defined tasks. Very few of my defined tasks are anchored to anything in the in-box.

New Here, Admitting to Myself and Others...

Hi all, I'm new

Hi everyone.

I visited this place for a few days and breathed a sigh of relief when I saw how open people are are about so many of the same things I struggle with.

Newbie intro & need help with procrastination and decluttering

Hi,

I'm really happy I found this forum.  I've been a procrastinator for most of my life, and it just seems to get worse over time.  I'm hoping that daily check-ins will help.  The other day, I tried to talk to my dh about finding this forum and how I thought it might help me, and he just looked at me blankly...

hi all new here

Newbie to the Posting Forum

Hello, I am Gina & new here to the daily check-ins. I would like to post my daily plans & accomplishments.

I think that, even if no one reads them, it may help me just to know that my posts are out here on this site.  I am not sure exactlly what "BooKEnding" is..?

ZTD- Questions for ALL &Journey!

Hi Journey!

I read about the work you've done on building habits!

"So far, I have built the habits of 1) collecting all my to-dos in a trusted system "

i'm stuck - have been for a long time, need help.

I don't know what's wrong with me. I can't seem to do anything productive. I just watch TV and play solitaire on the computer all day. :(

New Intro & Questions!!

Hello everyone!

This turned out to be really long so please feel free to skip to the questions at the bottom!!

The Plot

If there is one, it feels like I've lost it.

:(

Really stuck. Can't seem to convince myself to move. Work, leave work, get a taxi, visualise, break tasks down, start, meditate, use a timer,  pray.

Eh, I'll be going to the doctors on Friday.

Dammit. I just found out that there's a 10 day, mostly-silent meditation course available in a couple of weeks, which really might help either give me a break, or let me sort some shit out, but - I went to the doctor last week and just started anti-depressants.

Waking up in the morning...

I've been having a bit of trouble waking up in the morning. My room is dark, and it's winter.

Well, I had a really good idea - I read about those 'dawn' simulation lamps, that you set to start brightening about 20 minutes before you have to wake up (fake dawn).

Well, I can't afford one, but I can afford a powerpoint timer - http://www.dse.co.nz/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/487a64770b80e6fe273fc0a87f3b...

Financial insecurity

I would welcome others' reflections on how addictive procrastination and financial insecurity interact.  Abandonment of financial diligence is the single largest symptom of my compulsive procrastination.

Make the 'right' choice

How many times have you spent hours analyzing various facets of a decision because you wanted to make the most intelligent choice you oculd? Then, when you thought you finally had the best answer, you froze when you tried to move forward on it. Even though your logic said "OK," the decision still didn't feel quite right for some reason.

Loads of times? Yeh, me too.

New here... don't know where to start

Hey, I'm thankful to have found this site just to know that I am not as messed up as I thought!  Procrastination is ruining my career and my reputation and I need serious help.  Great to know that there are some tools out there for me.  But now that I've found this site, I'm not sure how to navigate it and I'm not sure what my next step is.  Is there some information for new people who join this group?  Can someone email me and let me know?  raven.reimer@gmail.com THANKS!!!!

Okay - I just DID it!!...

Hi, I just joined here after seeing the forum for the first time Sunday night. After reading some of the posts, I woke up Monday morning, made a list of a few pretty urgent things that needed doing, and had them done by that afternoon.

New poll questions

There's two new poll questions added in the last few days. If you have a moment, it would be great to see your input. Thanks! Smile
