The ’3Ts’ aka ’Timed Task Tomorrow’ method - 3 questions before doing something online:
Is it Timed (set a timer)? Is it a Task? If it's a sudden impulse, can I act on it Tomorrow?
Already been a fairly long and slightly productive day - Step 11 felt so right-on this morning, encouraging me to accept interruptions as being from my Higher Power so I don't become all scattered and panicky when they occur. If interruptions (the kind over which I have no control) mean I don't accomplish EVERY task today, oh well. Isn't that what I signed up for in Step 3?
And as if to prove the point, my neighbor stopped by for a chat, while I was heavy into a particular task that I really want to finish. I resisted the temptation to blow her off and I'm so glad, because she eventually warmed up to asking me for help getting into 12 Step recovery! Holy Cow, what if I'd insisted on getting MY tasks done instead of being open to this?!
Granted this can be a slippery slope unless I'm rigorously honest with myself about the source of the interruption. Is it my impulsivity, obsessiveness, or compulsive avoidance? If not, then I want to consider it might be God, asking me to do a favor for Him or His kids. And I really do love it when that happens (despite the mild annoyance that is just my dis-eased self-will).
So in what remains of the day, I hope to still make headway on these tasks:
- ACT to ensure my healthcare coverage is in place by Oct. 1
- Complete the ENT's online registration
- Pay some bills
- Note to self for tomorrow: schedule derm, mam, bone density
-Prep for J's 2 doc appts tomorrow
-petcare
-AA mtg

"You see, there’s a downside to being smart when it comes to success. Smart people know that there is an easier way to get things done. Many spend many hours and days searching for an easier way, rather than doing the work that will get them results. Now I can write it on a computer. Not only that, I can spell and grammar check it when it’s done. What else do I need to get the job done?
If I’m not careful, I’ll seek out an easier way and there simply is no replacement for putting my fingers on the keyboard and typing.
It is not always fun
It is a lot of work
It is sometimes hard
But work is the only way this will get done, So listen up smart people. If you are looking for the easy way instead of doing what needs to be done, get to work. Taking action is the only way you are going to get the results you want."by Brad Isaac
quiet time (sadly cut short though - I lingered in bed too long, missed church, and then before I could finish my personal devotions it was time for J's morning care. Well, progress not perfection. Anyway God must like this whole wife-as-caregiver thing - because it certainly wasn't my idea! Harumph!)
J's morning musts
pet care
meds for the week sorted into daily/daypart pillboxes
refills ordered
new weekly schedule/log typed and printed
I'll post my to-do list for the rest of the day on NowDoThis, but I already know it's going to include these items:
- Research healthcare coverage options
-Make a decision and ACT to ensure healthcare coverage is in place by Oct. 1
-Schedule my own healthcare needs (derm, mam, bone density)
-Get outdoors a bit, for Heaven's sake - the sun is shining!!
Great to see some familiar usernames still here, hello good friends! And hi to others I haven't yet met. I'm a longtimer, currently a PA "retread" after lapsing for a few years - I don't recommend that! PA really helped me for many years - through 6 years of backlogged tax filings, long-distance parental caregiving, loss of both parents, supporting a chronically ill spouse, high-responsibility jobs ... and now I've recently retired to provide FT caregiving for my very ill husband. Given my PA lapse, I'll be addressing backlogs today, with God's help.
DONE! Maintain my own recovery efforts
Household bills backlog
Household paperwork backlog
J medical paperwork backlog
DONE! Request homecare help for shower chair, grips, etc
DONE! Maintain J's daily care log
DONE! Charity minutes
DONE! Request estimate on RV storage
CHECKOUT: can't help noticing I avoid the backlogs again today by staying very busy doing everything else. But I can feel good that I logged in, made a list, tracked progress, and kept up with emerging issues throughout the day. J did not have any crises, and I am not completely exhausted. THAT is progress, thanks be to God!

Just for today I will have a plan, i MAY NOT FOLLOW IT EXACTLY, BUT I WILL HAVE A PLAN.
ONE DAY AT A TIME
Just for today I will try to live through this day only. I will not think about the future. I know I can get through just one day.
Just for today if I feel angry I will find a safe way to express it. I may scream and beat a pillow, but I will not hurt anyone.
Just for today I will remember the good things and let go of blame and regret because no one can change the past.
Just for today I will have a plan to fill the time. I will avoid idle hours which can lead to depression and despair.
Just for today I will set aside some time to relax and I will plan a short-term goal to work toward.
Just for today I will have hope that life will get better because love never dies and love can sustain us through the most painful tragedies.
Just for today I will go unafraid. Especially, I will not be afraid to enjoy what is beautiful because my life must go on.
Just for today I will have faith that even though life is not always fair, it is still worth living. In time, with faith and the grace of God, I will find new meaning in my life.

Maintenance tasks, do what works for me, think good thoughts
someone said “all action is born in thought, life is reflection of
thinking”
