Since there isn't a proper place to post this I thought I'd ask here. Is anyone interested in picking up an accountability partner? Because I really need one and I'm more than willing to serve within the same capacity for whoever is willing to buddy up with me. Checking in methods can be anything from email to whatsapp messages, I'm very flexible.

Oh, they are, however due to the website and chatbox's format I find it difficult to access either from my phone. I'm trying to spend less time on my laptop because it's one of my triggers for procrastinating. I was hoping to check in with my accountability partner solely via my phone in order to avoid temptation.

I might be interested in having a phone partner- what is your schedule like? I am Eastern Standard time, but I am active from around 10 am to 1 am usually since I work evenings.
Hi again dear friends. I've been really sporadic here the last 2 years, since taking on a fulltime daily office job. External structures like that really help reduce my compulsive procrastination, so I didn't feel the need to check in as much. But now I'm about to retire! So I am grateful PA is here, an important external structure to support my recovery.
My to-do list is long and totally unrealistic. So I'm whittling it down to these items today:
Trim branches away from camper
Call Mike about pest control
Read doc's notebook for J and create written schedule
Saturday afternoon after 12days of hectic work and looking down the barrel of anther 12 dxays - needless to say, avoidance of study (heck! Avoidance of everything useful and basic) is rife! No milk the other day as finished work too late all the convenience stores had shut...
Rather amusing really how easily my 'calm and order' can be crumbled. Oh well, I really enjoy work so I have to remind my self that the study is for that!
I went to a world class classical guitar player's concert on Thursday night and was blown away by his skill - and humbled to think he would practice 6 or 7 hours a day to get that good. In this day and age of reality TV of weekend renovations or makeovers or cooking shows, we get the impression that we can be good at something in a rush!
HOwever, like all breathtaking musicians, like the cyclists in the tour de France, top class things take time (lots of it) and hard often mind numbing effort (and lots of it!).
Oh well, I learn't something from all my TV procrastination!
So Saturday afternoon, slept in (needed), stocked up on basic groceries and coffee!! Been pfasffing for 1.5hours on email. That is done.
Plan: 330-5 mcqs w 20min promos
5 ring many & mum
6 go for walk shower dinner
730 back at desk until 10
If good concentration can watch Lego movie as reward
Bed by 1130
Thanks for letting me share, my encouragement and solidarity !
Keep
practicing your recovery behaviors, even when they feel awkward, even
when they haven't quite taken yet, even if you don't get it yet.
Sometimes
it takes years for a recovery concept to move from our mind into our
heart and soul. We need to work at recovery behaviors with the
diligence, effort, and repeated practice we applied to codependent
behaviors. We need to force ourselves to do things even when they don't
feel natural. We need to tell ourselves we care about ourselves and can
take care of ourselves even when we don't believe what we're saying.
We need to do it, and do it, and do it - day after day, year after year.
It
is unreasonable to expect this new way of life to sink in overnight. We
may have to "act as if" for months, years, before recovery behaviors
become ingrained and natural.
Even after years, we may find ourselves, in times of stress or duress, reverting to old ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving.
We
may have layers of feelings we aren't ready to acknowledge until years
into our recovery. That's okay! When it's time, we will.
Do
not give up! It takes time to get self-love into the core of us. It
takes repeated practice. Time and experience. Lessons, lessons, and more
lessons.
Then, just when we think we've arrived, we find we have more to learn.
That's the joy of recovery. We get to keep learning and growing all of our life!
Keep
on taking care of yourself, no matter what. Keep on plugging away at
recovery behaviors, one day at a time. Keep on loving yourself, even
when it doesn't feel natural. Act as if for as long as necessary, even
if that time period feels longer than necessary.
One
day, it will happen. You will wake up, and find that what you've been
struggling with and working so hard at and forcing yourself to do,
finally feels comfortable. It has hit our soul.
Then, you go on to learn something new and better.
Today,
I will plug away at my recovery behaviors, even if they don't feel
natural. I will force myself to go through the motions even if that
feels awkward. I will work at loving myself until I really do.
I just wanted to reach out and let you know what great respect I have for you, and your program, and your faith in your Higher Power, God.
I just wanted to let you know that I see you as someone who is truly committed to change, to growth, to attaining recovery, and who is willing to do the hard work to get there. I SEE you do this, all the time.
I am sorry you are in a tough spot now. This may not apply, but I think it is possible to reach a level of burnout with one's recovery. It's hard work, looking oneself squarely in the face all the time.
It's entirely possible for part of yourself to rebel. To become jaundiced, and -- really, just -- TIRED. This is natural. And normal. I've experienced it, myself. The "I don't want to" starts to win.
Like I said, this may not apply to you, Clement. And that's cool. But even if it doesn't…
I wish you peace, and self-love, and ease. An easy day. Some time to be quiet, and to connect with yourself. Some time to rest. A quiet mind. A gentle heart.
Take some time for yourself, if you can. Then head back out to battle. The road to recovery isn't going anywhere. It will still be there when you come back. :)
Saying a prayer for you -

I did end up watching the tour de France again last night - I just enjoy and admire the sportsmanship. Maybe tonight I'll come home, do 1.5hrs study and turnj it on after that - that way I get to watch the final straight but still do some study.

Thursday 17th July
28days - 4 weeks. Time to concentrate on the now.
I did end up watching the tour de France again last night - I just enjoy and admire the sportsmanship. Maybe tonight I'll come home, do 1.5hrs study and turnj it on after that - that way I get to watch the final straight but still do some study.
Meditation and prayer
Ok 1145 to start promos (I'm obviously not a morning person as struggle so much to start before 10!)
1245 make omelette, eat at desk
200 wash up, get ready for work, post office
Work
Home - dinner, plan as above
Thanks for letting me share, my encouragement for you all today.

So entered YouTube vortex after work last night.... late /early bedtime. No study but have done washing and some important emails, ate healthy meals.
Will ring g'ma.
Work at 330- leave house at 345 to buy USB
May I be present and enthusiastic at work. May there be a chance to do some study at work. May I take that chance.
May I be strong in my weakness and when hungry and tired home late from work to resist turning on computer or TV - bed or read, no screens.
Thanks for letting me share -my encouragement to you all today.

Wallowed in bed until a friend texted me w encouragement - probably wouldn't be up and at desk without that. Tracy-La that wise P-A-er wrote something yesterday "We can't 'wait
For motivation, we are just asked to DO."
Talk about 'finding you wings on the way down" ! Exam 30days away now... I will choose to be grateful for what I have done so far, and in the years prior to this.
I will choose to concentrate on the now and the do.
1130230 mcqs w one tea break and eat lunch at desk.
Start work at 330
Finish work by 1030 - don't turn on TV or tour de France - do a few more q's instead. Every moment counts - It ain't over til its over.
Abstinence: I have come to believe that it is more important to maintain sobriety of relying on God then to get things done.
Thanks for letting me share - my Encouragement and Solidarity PA-eras!
