Procrastinators Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from chronic procrastination.
"You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can
decide not to be reduced by them. Try to be a rainbow in someone's
cloud. Do not complain. Make every effort to change things you do not
like. If you cannot make a change, change the way you have been
thinking. You might find a new solution.”
"Then there is the other kind of idler, the idler despite himself, who is inwardly consumed by a great longing for action who does nothing because his hands are tied, because he is, so to speak, imprisoned somewhere, because he lacks what he needs to be productive, because disastrous circumstances have brought him forcibly to this end.
Such a one does not always know what he can do, but he nevertheless instinctively feels, I am good for something! My existence is not without reason! I know that I could be a quite a different person! How can I be of use, how can I be of service? There is something inside me, but what can it be?
People are often unable to do anything, imprisoned as they are in I don't know what kind of terrible, terrible, oh such terrible cage.
You cannot always tell what keeps you confined, what immures you, what seems to bury you, and yet you can feel those elusive bars, railings, walls. Is all this illusion, imagination? I don't think so. And then one asks: My God! will it be for long, will it be for ever, will it be for eternity?
Do you know what makes the prison disappear? Every deep, genuine affection. Being friends, being brothers, loving, that is what opens the prison, with supreme power, by some magic force. Without these one stays dead. But whenever affection is revived, there life revives."
I heard a snatch of a radio program yesterday and there were two women talking about motorbike riding; and the instructor had told one of them 'not to look at the fence', because the bike would go where you looked towards, and the other woman said, 'yes, but saying that makes you LOOK at the fence, doesn't it?!?!', and the upshot was, forget about the thing you have to avoid/not crash into and look where you want to go. So I have just sung myself a little ditty and I am going to look at, stare at, where I want to GO. Which is, COMPLETION. Handing in those three/four essays that need to be submitted before i can relax and enjoy my summer (and let's not relax too hard this time hey?)...
Bursting to begin, eye on the finish.

I decided (Step 3) this morning my goal for today is simply this:
Seek Jesus at the Center of the Cross today.
Perfectionism is the disease that will lead to my destruction if I don't aim for balance in the center. So instead of engaging the flip side reaction of perfectionism with neglect and avoidance ... I will disengage altogether from the sick cycle of perfectionism by Seeking First the Kingdom of God, knowing all things will be added to me this way. Not in my own strength because I can never be perfect—only God is.
"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." (Matthew 6:33, 34 NKJV)
Thank you Lord.
Easy does it. Aim for center. Your Will today, Lord. Amen.
"Surrender & Take the Next Action Toward Center"
(because linear progress from left to right does not work for me and only causes more perfectionistic pressure leading to more procrastination! Bypass the cycle altogether by seeking God in the center)
What are the five key steps that we can take each day to increase our experience of happiness?
1)Bring gratitude to mind – Write down three NEW things that you are grateful for each day
2)Journal – About a positive experience you’ve had recently for 2 minutes once a day
3)Exercise – Engage in 15 minutes of mindful cardio activity
4)Meditate – Watch your breath go in and out for 2 minutes a day and
5)Engage in a random, conscious act of kindness –Write a 2-minute positive email thanking a friend or colleague, or compliment someone you admire on social media
Do these steps for 21 days, and you will begin to see a lasting shift in your mindset towards more positivity.
I am feeling really really stuck. And I hate it. I want to break out of it so badly, but I just find myself sitting here, not starting, then making false starts... reviewing what I've done so far and finding it pathetic, knowing what I have to do to change it and then not doing it, or forgetting to try it that way and just reverting to the old, painful, getting-nowhere-fast way.
I have GOT to get a plan down, and stick to it. Just ten minutes and then I'll have a break at 12.30.
My plan is not actually a plan... why is this such a struggle????????? I expect to be inspired!!!! Anyway, I'm going to have a break...

Shawn Achor’s extensive research and other recent discoveries in the field
of positive psychology have shown that this formula is completely
backward: Happiness fuels success, not the other way around. (see his book The Happiness Advantage: The Seven Principles of Positive Psychology That Fuel Success and Performance at Work for more).
What are the five key steps that we can take each day to increase our experience of happiness?
1) Bring gratitude to mind – Write down three NEW things that you are grateful for each day
2) Journal – About a positive experience you’ve had recently for 2 minutes once a day
3) Exercise – Engage in 15 minutes of mindful cardio activity
4) Meditate – Watch your breath go in and out for 2 minutes a day and
5) Engage in a random, conscious act of kindness – Write a 2-minute positive email thanking a friend or colleague, or compliment someone you admire on social media
Do these steps for 21 days, and you will begin to see a lasting shift in your mindset towards more positivity.
