How to find older threads (even while the forum menu is broken)

As our member "knitfisher" helpfully pointed out on another post, the "Recent Content" link on the left under "Site Content" still works and gives a list of threads in order of last updated.

Yes, if you do what knitfisher said (click on "recent content"), it will show ALL the threads ever, since the founding of the website, regardless if you participated in them or not.

They are not sorted by topic. Just by date. "Recent Content" has a mixture of it all: discussion/intro threads, articles, daily check-in threads, book reviews, 12step ideas, etc. -- all mixed together, sorted by date.

Note: For the date-order of threads, it displays the "most recent" as
the "last thread that was most recently replied to by anybody" --
regardless of how long ago it was started.
Sometimes *editing* a single post will bump its whole thread to a more recent status, but not always.

NOTE:

The "forums" link won't work.

Under "active forum topics" on RIGHT side of page,
the "More" link won't work.

BUT ... here is what knitfisher said:

Look to the ***LEFT *** side of the webpage
-- to the LEFT of where you are reading right now
and find "Recent Content" --
click on THOSE words -- "recent content".

That's where ALL the threads are -- all threads since 2005.

How to specifically find a list of ONLY threads that you have participated in:

You can click on your own name in the lower right side of the page, after you've logged in, where it says "who's logged in" (if your name doesn't show, then refresh the page and it will show.)

Or click on your own hypertexted name anywhere on any page.

OR ...after you log in, click on "my account" in the upper left corner of the page.

Any of those methods (clicking on your name, or clicking on your account) -- will take you to your profile.

Once you're at your profile, just click "Track" -- and it will give you a list of all the threads you've ever posted in.

Note: The date-order of your "tracked threads" displays the "most recent" as
the "last thread you participated in that was most recently replied to by anybody".
For example: if there is a years-old thread that you replied to long ago
-- but somebody else replied to recently -- then that will display as being one of your more recent threads.

But other than those odd exceptions -- you'll find all check-in threads you've posted on -- in a somewhat reasonable order. This is also a good way to find any "special projects and master lists" posts you may have posted in. And any intro/discussion threads you replied to. Or any articles, polls, or reviews that you may have replied to.

Lucas' Tuesday check-in

Howdy folks!

There's nothing like work pressure to increase my focus... yesterday I barely got distracted at work at all - largely because I've been under the hammer with various tasks... I'd put my productivity 'grade' at about 90%...

Today's to-do's:

  • 6am: Run
  • 9am-6pm: No time-wasting at work
  • 7pm: AA meeting
  • 9pm: 30 minutes to recovery forums
I hope you're all having a good Tuesday so far! Laughing

Oh hi. I'm back!

I first joined this forum and posted something over a year ago. Then I avoided it for a long time, strange as it may seem. But the other day I made a commitment on an Underearners Anonymous phone call to break the seal on some resources I've put off using, including this one. No tasks to share right now, except for this very message, which feels pretty great to have gotten out of the way. Have a great day folks. Thanks for being here.

welcome back :)

Hi holdmylife,

fudoshin: April 7th: day 4: 1:32am

Please do not leave advice or feedback.  Thank you.  Prayers welcome.

My commitment is the following:

30 minutes of exercise at least everyday until I am done with my running plan (35 days or shorter), comprised of the following

1) a segment of my running plan, if there is one for that day

2) any combination of the following in order to get to 30 minutes:

* walking, running, swimming, dance class, aerobics, sculpting class, yoga, biking

The idea is to get out there.

Why am I doing this:

I get massive migraine headaches, whenever I don't exercise.  I don't know why I have a neurological problem, such that exercise is the only thing that makes me feel better physically and emotionally.
I like to feel lighter on my feet. People are staring at me, looking at me all the time wherever I go, and I want to look good at work, at school, standing waiting for the bus.
I do a lot of standing around, b/c I have to take a bus or go to class etc. and I want to have the confidence in myself that I will invest in myself by doing exercise that day.
I don't want to be the fat person at work or class or in a social setting.
Exercise, particularly running, makes me feel more confident and comfortable in my body.  It's the only way I gain sanity and mental concentration sometimes.
I get massive headaches, when I don't exercise.
I would like to be attractive; I don't want to feel self-conscious whenever someone attractive is staring at me.
I have athletic goals.  I have two running programs, one for beginning running, and I have another one for running for a straight 30 minutes.  I want to get through these programs.  I have a goal to one day run the Hawaii marathon.  But first I'd like to do a half-marathon (preferably the Disney one) just to experience it, b/c I just skipped to the marathon.
Running helps me to feel motivated in other areas of my life, whether I'm sitting in a chair programming or I'm translating Latin.

Rules:

I will not allow myself to burn out by over-training.  I will stick to the plan.
If I'm physically incapable of running, I will walk or cross-train, but I have to check in here, if I'm going to alter my plan.
I will brush and floss my teeth nightly because for some reason it helps.
I need to prepare for bed at least 8 hours before I need to wake up, b/c sleep enables me to run.

Lucas check-in

I'm late checking in today, but I'm glad to say that's because I've been very busy Smile

Reviewing yesterday, I would say my 'focus level' at work was about 90%... I got tons done... yay!

So far today:

  • 6am - Run - done!
  • 9am FAA meeting  done!
  • 10am - 6pm - no time-wasting at work - as of 4.30pm, I've been storming along... let's keep it up for the rest of the working day!
  • 7pm - meeting friends

Be Kind to Yourself

Thank you to Jalla for this inspiring message and image!

@ Jalla & Movingalong

It's a wonderful, and important, message.

Movingalong's check-in for Friday 4/4/2014

I had several productive days, but then I backslid yesterday.

Today is a new day for starting afresh.

Some inspirational quotes for the week or month

Little by little, through our constant efforts, we discover a different kind of life

Beneficial habits begin to replace ones that once brought us misery.

One Day at a Time -- I will make an extra effort to be patient and gentle with myself and others -- when I am feeling irritable and frustrated.

Just because I am *in* pain doesn't mean I have to *be* a pain.

No blame, no shame.

We can laugh and see the lighter side of situations.

We value ourselves and believe we have something to give the world.

I will have faith that I can thrive through anything -- when I do it one moment at a time.

(These quotes are all from the literature of "Chronic Pain Anonymous", a 12-step fellowship for those with chronic pain and chronic illness) (Yet the quotes seem relevant to anyone and everyone!)

Lucas' Thursday check-in

Hello PA friends!

Firstly, reviewing yesterday, I'd put my 'focus' level at work at about 75%. I'm still time-wasting some...but getting better

Today's to-dos:

  1. 6am - Run  finally, got out to run for first time since my illness... was rough - I can feel the fact I havent exercised for several week, but I'm sooo glad I did it
  2. 9am - FAA loop
  3. 10am-6pm - no time-wasting at work
  4. 7pm. Toastmasters
  5. 9pm: 30 minutes on recovery forums

Blue-eyes' Thursday, 3 April

Thank you to everyone at PA, especially those working on the recent problems. I'm so grateful!

0. forgive myself for wasting most of the day :-(

1. walk dog

also started the laundry and cleaned up the kitchen

2. make shopping list

3. go shopping!  leave by 1:45!!!!!

progress not perfection!

Solidarity!

I did it and on time so I didn't have to rush. I know I'm supposed to feel good about myself now and celebrate my achievement but the feeling of defeat this morning outweighs the sense of achievement. It's too little too late and my feelings of being overwhelmed by what still need to be done is strongest. Progress and action, I guess. :-)
