Got some actual, honest-to-goodness work done yesterday -- YAY!

Let's see if I can build on that today:

I've had good luck w/ the "one task at a time" plan, so I'll stick to that.

First, I need to revise paper. This should take about 2 hrs (4 pomos)

Today I will:

  • Do W work for rest of poms done 2
  • Have a good lunch
  • Book ticket to B
  • Reply to HD FB msg
  • Request pick up once ticket booked
  • Confirm overnight stay

clement ci - day 146 attempting abstinence, 66 from self

Abstinence from unplanned time.

  • The one thing, the only thing, i can do impulsively is write something on my todo list.
  • The one thing, the only thing, i can do off plan is recovery, something to maintain my sobriety, when tempted. I have come to believe that it is more important to maintain sobriety than to get things done.

Abstinence from relying on self.

We reviewed our fears thoroughly. We put them on paper, even though we had no resentment in connection with them. We asked ourselves why we had them. Wasn't it because self-reliance failed us? Self-reliance was good as far as it went, but it didn't go far enough. Some of us once had great self-confidence, but it didn't fully solve the fear problem, or any other. When it made us cocky, it was worse.

Perhaps there is a better way - we think so. For we are now on a different basis; the basis of trusting and relying upon God. We trust infinite God rather than our finite selves. We are in the world to play the role He assigns. Just to the extent that we do as we think He would have us, and humbly rely on Him, does He enable us to match calamity with serenity.

We never apologize to anyone for depending upon our Creator. We can laugh at those who think spirituality the way of weakness. Paradoxically, it is the way of strength. The verdict of the ages is that faith means courage. All men of faith have courage. They trust their God. We never apologize for God. Instead we let Him demonstrate, through us, what He can do. We ask Him to remove our fear and direct our attention to what He would have us be. At once, we commence to outgrow fear. p68 AA Big Book.

What a lovely concept Overcomer is, lot's of movement in the word itself and visions of leaping and arrival. Definitely my new middle name.

i also like the stepping stones - I use a really great programme sometimes called writer's blocks - a witty name but sometimes a little close to the bone. Perhaps I can think of them as stepping stones instead.

Today I felt I was in danger of getting right back into old ways. Was away over Easter - but it was Work Away, I was at a conference, so I wasn't at all rested, I was exhausted. And I felt I just coudln't face anything, especially getting in touch with someone for whom I was late with some work. But I did get in touch, knowing that I was intending to come here and make a list and wouldn't feel good if that was still on it. So am feeling much better now. 

Tomorrow goes

 - Read and annotate 12 more pages of J's work

-  Read A's manuscript to relevent point

- Make some advice notes for A and send them. 

- Make list of students who haven't submitted Fb assignment. 

- Get in touch with PD library/archive again - phone if necessary. 

- Go through Projects and make lists for next week.
