HAPPY THURSDAY, EVERYBODY!

Promise Three of PA:

As we learn to commit each task to our Higher Power for divine ideas and guidance, confidence will replace fear, enthusiasm will replace dred and self-esteem will replace self-loathing; we will take the next right action, as they are required easily and effortlessly.

Have a great proactive day!

Peace

Piqued CI

After missing three weeks of work thanks to a bout of pneumonia, I have returned to the workaday world once again. Actually, I returned on Monday, but have not really accomplished anything yet. Goal for today: Do at least one work task.

Glad you are feeling better Piqued

Sorry to hear you had pneumonia. That sounds awful.

All the best for continued recovery.

Hooch

Thanks for the encouraging words, Hooch

Returning to work is in many ways more challenging than dealing with pneumonia was. I guess that means I got off easy on the pneumonia. LOL!

(Piqued)

Oh well, I do know what you mean there Piqued. Good luck with the return to work.

Show up (done), exer, plan

Thank you for starter lennon. I realized that some of this promises coming true for me. The tasks/tools in PA are helping and so grateful to have a place to show up.Cannot say have enthusiam for tasks, but do have less dred , more self understanding /acceptance/forgiveness, and more like not controled by my fears but have them, can take the next right action but not very effortlessly or easily. If it doesn't get better than that, it is still a miracle! Thank you HP.

challenging day today, good meditation from MBeattie Language of Lettinggo, which I revised a bit to fit PA isse.

Recovery sometimes  means learning to
stay and deal. It's about building and maintaining living methods that
work.

Problems and conflicts are part of life - problem-solving and conflict
negotiation are skills we can acquire and improve with time.

Not being willing to tackle and solve problems leads to
unresolved feelings of anger and victimization,  unresolved problems that intensify the
problem and waste time and energy. Not being willing to face and solve problems means we may run into that problem again.

Often, there are workable options for
solving problems that we will not even see until we become open to the
concept of working through problems  rather than
running from the problems.  We must be willing to identify the problem, let
go of blame and shame, and focus on possible creative solutions. We need to learn to identify
the different possibilities for working that out. We can learn to be
flexible without being too flexible.
Today, I
will strive for appropriate flexibility in my problem-solving efforts.

Hypatia's check-in

First time I've checked in for a long time and I feel the need of it.  I have been using the chat-box with good effect, but I don't want my employer complaining about me spending time "chatting" online.  A good start this morning - I made a difficult phone call that I've been putting off for weeks, and the person at the other end was really nice, despite me having caused her problems by my procrastination.

I have an office morning, so here goes

  • check where afternoon meeting is
  • print papers for tomorrow's meeting
  • clear right hand pile on desk
  • clear left hand pile on desk

I've found the top of my desk and that's agreat achievement. I'l lstart on the overflowing trays tomorrow

  • sort the piles on the computer desk
  • clear the files in the in-tray
  • Find A's photograph

You can  tell I've been procrastinating again, can't you?

Mole's check in

Thank you for starting off today Lennon.  I am very late coming to the site - it is early evening but better late..... Checking in is important both for intentions and reflections. This will be rather more the latter.

THINGS I DID WELL TODAY

Was really clear  about what I needed and negotiated for that

THINGS I COULD HAVE DONE BETTER

not offered help and then forgotten to check my phone

THINGS I AM GRATEFUL FOR

D's perseverance and time

J, k's flatmate, selling me tea, B trying to persuade me to buy bright green and red shoes and talking about puppeteering, seeing J at F, the bus driver not having the radio on and calling me back after I had got off to give me a sweet.

S's treatment yesterday which has worked wonders

clement ci - day 145 attempting abstinence, 65 from self

Abstinence from unplanned time.

  • The one thing, the only thing, i can do impulsively is write something on my todo list.
  • The one thing, the only thing, i can do off plan is recovery, something to maintain my sobriety, when tempted. I have come to believe that it is more important to maintain sobriety than to get things done.

Abstinence from relying on self.

We reviewed our fears thoroughly. We put them on paper, even though we had no resentment in connection with them. We asked ourselves why we had them. Wasn't it because self-reliance failed us? Self-reliance was good as far as it went, but it didn't go far enough. Some of us once had great self-confidence, but it didn't fully solve the fear problem, or any other. When it made us cocky, it was worse.

Perhaps there is a better way - we think so. For we are now on a different basis; the basis of trusting and relying upon God. We trust infinite God rather than our finite selves. We are in the world to play the role He assigns. Just to the extent that we do as we think He would have us, and humbly rely on Him, does He enable us to match calamity with serenity.

We never apologize to anyone for depending upon our Creator. We can laugh at those who think spirituality the way of weakness. Paradoxically, it is the way of strength. The verdict of the ages is that faith means courage. All men of faith have courage. They trust their God. We never apologize for God. Instead we let Him demonstrate, through us, what He can do. We ask Him to remove our fear and direct our attention to what He would have us be. At once, we commence to outgrow fear. p68 AA Big Book.

had good appt.
did not go off plan when i was really low on resistance.

THINGS I COULD HAVE DONE BETTER

Not gotten off plan on the qb task. Is needed, but not MIT.

THINGS I AM GRATEFUL FOR

that i did not go off plan when i was really low on resistance. Cuz i really didnt have it in me to resist, and God just helped me. The bible says that the Holy Spirit prays for you when you can't pray for yourself. Very comforting.
Good, efficient morning.
