Let us not take it for granted that life exists more fully in what is more commonly thought big than in what is commonly thought small.

clement ci - day 61 attempting abstinence

10:44am : it's been 1hr since i last went off plan. I won't count last night or sleeping. Last night God saved me from a terrible all-nighter of surfing ( or something ) but it was not ideal.

11:55am : quiet time was Acts 28 and the story of Paul, having been taken prisoner by the Jews for preaching Jesus, he is sent to Rome on appeal. I was greatly encouraged, because the gospel had already spread to Rome, and when believers heard that Paul was there, they traveled from 43 miles away to see him. That means that the gospel is bigger than Paul, bigger than any one person, and in the end really guided by God himself. Now i can feel the urge to do something other than the next task on my list, but it's small, so i can overcome it. God help me.

12:45pm : he did. It's been 3h 1min since i last went off plan. That's a high number for me, but not the highest. next task up. God guide me. I dedicate the next task to you.

1:31pm : it's been 1 min since i last went off task. I decided not to DELVE into a new job posting, cuz i have other imp tasks for today. but i did allow myself to browse. I should have limited that to 5 min, and noticed when some things were hard to search for online and put it off til i could schedule it rationally. New Beginnings!

10:00am next day ( Wed ) : the client prep task took all night. I was impulsive with choices WITHIN that task, but for me not too bad. Still it was off plan and addiction controlling when i did that. I didnt get to the last 2 tasks. Hmm. client prep took longer than i thot, so i dont know if on-plan was to continue to do that MIT or stop and do the other tasks... Need Wisdom to know the difference :D

I think I will keep this simple today. Just do the next right action, and it will all fall into place. Trust God. I just have to keep my goals simple or I will feel like I failed. I want to live in peace, not frustration.

Journey 7:45

Working from home and feeling tired . . .I need to get to bed EARLY tonight and catch up on some rest so I'll have the energy to get my work done!  My husband is recovering from the manflu so he hasn't been sleeping well, which leads to me not sleeping well, but hey I'm just glad I didn't catch that horrible flu.   He's been really sick.

Anyway, getting a late/slow start this morning and I am going right now to exercise and eat a healthy breakfast.   I'll post todo list here by . . . 9:30ish.

Update 9:45 - I have my todo list but haven't exercised - forgot I had a 9 am conference call!   Here's list:

  • email/calendar
  • plan
  • project o meeting
  • exercise
  • quiet time
  • brunch
  • project m - 1 hour
  • check h
  • check tms
  • project m - 1 hour
  • decide about dinner
  • laundry
  • project m - 1 hour
  • project v planning
  • project o reading if time
  • dinner
  • dishes
  • clip dog toenails
  • filing 5 min
  • vitamins
  • review goals
  • relax/read for an hour before bed
  • added:  call the horrid insurance co.

exercise now - I like to get this done early but better late than never!

Update 6:30 didn't get all the work tasks on my list done but I got a lot done on project M

Now dinner, laundry, a little filing and take vitamins.  Then I'll be done for the day.  oh, and quiet time - it's a bit late but I will still do it.

Tuesday ci

Thanks for the starter Mole, I had to read it about four times before I understood it properly but then again I have been up since 6.30am :).

  • Done: HP, dog walk, breakfast
  • Next up: Dr appointment
  • Drop off application
  • Get to a meeting
  • Study!!!!!! Library. A good hour or two.
  • Watch habit code video etc
  • Dinner: something healthy
  • More dog walking :(
  • Aim to be in bed by 10.30, lights out 11...

I really need to be mindful and take care that I don't fritter away big chunks of time. I am using a calendar now which helps, all the same, it's actions taken not appointments on a piece of paper that count.

EleanorBE's Tuesday List

Hi everyone and many thanks for starting, Mole, especially when things are so tough there. I hope you and your family and friends are safe.

Very odd, I posted a Monday list but it's disappeared. I must not have saved it, when I transferred it from Sunday where I first wrote it late at night. Still, I managed to do it all.

Tuesday goes:

Unplanned - MA copying

A's Reference

Planned

Plan 5pm session

Get up materials for 5pm session

Copy materials for 5pm session

Ring/write to M to discuss changes to new mod.

Sort how to release C grades and release them

Meet with J.

Ask N and F if I'm doing workshops tomorrow

If so, copy stuff for workshops

Contact BJ and ask where work is

Contact JW

Hm, so, back here for the new working year and am clearly back to overestimating how much I can get done in a day!

Carry over to tomorrow -

Before teaching - finish uploading grades

- teach PtI session

- Look at ev. forms for meeting with M

- run 2 x intro workshops

meet with M.

Mole's check in

I'm trying a different tack this month, allowing for some reflection time. The check-ins have certainly helped me get things done, especially routines of housework, admin etc. it has also helped me to apply myself to my bigger projects. But somewhere in here I lost the question - is this the right project? I watched Randy Pauche's lecture on time management on youTube.. It was salutary to hear how someone with only a few months to live approaches and values time. And this really comes home to me as I am in a haze of smoke from terrible bush fires we are having here with high winds blowing embers across streets and rivers, and new fires starting all the time across the state.

So today I shall have some to dos but not hurry myself.
