HAPPY SUNDAY, EVERYBODY!

Tool Four of PA:
Focus on Long-Term Consequences: Procrastinators have a tendency to focus on short-term pleasure, and shut out awareness of long-term consequences. Remind yourself how panicked and awful you'll feel if the task isn't done, then imagine how good it will feel when the task is finished.

Have a great proactive day!

Tabula Rasa - Sunday

Feeling frustrated because I used losing my keys as an excuse to procrastinate most of the day Friday and Saturday. I finally found them last night at around 8PM. I was really struggling yesterday, but still managed to get almost all of the dishes done, do a load of laundry and respond to a few emails. I was in that hyper-focused fog for most of the rest of the day--not really sure where the time went.

I have two client calls/deliverables tomorrow and I am feeling that avoidance/anxiety starting to kick in a bit, especially because Friday and Saturday got off-track. I am breathing through it, and am going to do what I can do to prepare starting now.

-Pick up binders from office
-Prepare for call with client A
-Prepare deliverable for client B
-Work on printing order
-One load of laundry washed, dried and put away
-COBRA paperwork
-COBRA payment
-Rent home
-Rent office
-Submit pet insurance claim
-Drop off binders (Monday)

Thank you, Lennon!

Not a bad day so far. A little bit of relaxing, a little bit of work...here's the rest of the day:

3:30-4:30 nap

4:30-5:30 clean

5:30-7 Christmas stuff

7-8 dinner

8-9 5 to-dos

9-10 read, lang

I resolve ...

  • Not to play any more computer games till Christmas. Not even sudoku.
  • To check in here every day with something positive to do

Tonight I will

  • Make sure I have food & clothes for tomorrow
  • Go to bed early

Different flow here on the weekend...

Woke up early under threat of migraine...6 hours later and I'm a bit shaky but fine otherwise.

Yesterday was another eye-opener in early PA recovery. I'm going to do some journalling on all this elsewhere.

goals for today:

PA mtg at 2:30

make a plan for (a) the week and (b) tomorrow

12-step mtg at 7:30

and now I'm going to putz in the shop until 2:22

Thanks for the start lennon. (though "panicked and awful" is a bit of a constant while "finished" is only to be imagined...but, thanks for the reminder; this check-in is at least one proactivity I've accomplished today!)

Journey 9 am

Happy Sunday!

Today is housework catch up day.   First thing is to sort the laundry.   Later!

Update 10 am -Laundry is sorted, and the first load is in the wash.

Other things to do today

  • More laundry to wash
  • Fold 3 loads - 2 done
  • Find recipes
  • 10 minutes on the pile
  • find dentist bill
  • more orders
  • water plants
  • straighten living room
  • change cat litter
  • bathe dogs
  • clean big bathroom
  • wrap a's bday present
  • dinner
  • dishes
  • prep for tomorrow
  • review goals
  • quiet time
Right now, have quiet time before it gets lost in the shuffle
Update 4:20 (ha!) I've gotten a good bit done but now my energy is flagging.   I want to get everything done so I can relax and watch Walking Dead tonight but right now I am just mindlessly surfing the net because I need a break.   I will get up, go finish cleaning the bathroom, then I'll take a nice planned break and read a few pages in my book rather than mindlessly stare at the computer.    Not that I don't love you guys :) but the computer can be a giant time suck for me.  Later . ..

Update 6:15 all done but dinner/dishes!

Have a nice sunday everyone!

Edit: This was a very productive Sunday for me - thanks to this useful website. As this was the first day for me on this site, I am amazed how well it worked to have my Todo-List written down here. It was also very motivating for me seeing the bullet points of the other participants being struck through.
Good Night everyone, I'm going to bed. (It's almost midnight here in germany.)

Rexroth Check In 10.10

Up late with a cough following a bad night's sleep and in a very bad mood, grumpy, angry and fed up.

Done:
Up prayer and reflection
Checked emails and posts
Looked from my window at the early morning golden sunlight and took some picture - that is something that could not be put off
Put hat which I wear when traveling into soak as it still is not clean from its last wash

Todo:
x Make a gratitude list - this is recommended to deal with grumpyness and is just about the last thing I feel like doing
x Make a plan for the week
I am really not sure what else

What else was sorting out the letter to the landlords which I at last got all the comments and approval printed it got it signed by other tenants and posted it
I forget what else I did and am posting this on Monday morning

Regards Rexroth

Reframing Recovery Tool #4 for myself ...

P.A. Recovery Tool #4:
Focus on the Long-Term:
Procrastinators have a tendency to focus on short-term pleasure,
and shut out awareness of long-term consequences.
Remind yourself how panicked and awful you'll feel if the task isn't done,
then imagine how good it will feel when the task is finished.

To add a personal contemplation idea to the above tool:
I feel somewhat uncomfortable with its wording.
Therefore, I choose to reframe it as follows:

I don't over-focus on the bad feelings, because that might lead to
"awful-izing" or "catastroph-izing".
I simply do a QUICK remembering of how procrastination leads to chaos,
but then I re-direct my thinking as follows:

I contemplate the following:

Higher Power, Greater Wisdom, what is the Big Picture?
What long-term goals do you envision for me?
How does this action fit into that?
What can my next right action be -- right now?
What will lead me on the path to *real* joy?
