Today has been lots of meetings and presentations, and it's been really useful, but also exhausting. Now I've finished all that and I need to get organized for Thanskgiving break. I'm feeling kind of scattered.

Specifically, I need to:
*Organize my notes, gather merge paper stuff
*Check on expts, restore as needed, correct o/c

*Print 2 papers that I'm supposed to give comments on
*Return lib. book
*Figure out how to return snowsuit
*Pack book

it's already 1:45, and i'm only logging in now :(  i would like to start a new routine of checking in every morning. gonna have to work on that. i was out of the house early today, and only sitting down now to dissertate.

it's been 11h 2min since i last went off plan. A lot of that was sleeping ;^) Cumulative 24h 50min over 12 days. I notice that the "days attempting abstinence" goes up by exactly 1 every day, no matter how well i do in any given day. It rather is a measure of my intention and willingness. And i am willing by the grace of God.

That hit the spot. i got caught in paralysis of fear of impending failure and could not get out. I had the strength, barely, to have my quiet time, hoping something would happen. And i came across this, so i'm grateful. I'm gonna pray about it for a while. Altho i'm dialed into the 11am pa phone mtg.

had 11 am ph mtg which was great. ministered to my soul. Still feeling some dread, but i'm on task. But i did a lot of praying and i am ready to trust my God for today and its tasks and my execution of them.

It's been about 1hr 30min since i last went off task. Cumulative 25h 10min in last 12 days. I trusted my God and he did not disappoint. I was able to make fwd progress and start on my MIT at work and it went well. Now, rather than go off-task, i'm gonna stay on-task. and do the next task on my list.

it's been 1 min since i last went off task. woops. just for about 1 min. Cumulative 25h 11min off task in last 12 days. back on task now.

732pm :

It's been 5h 41 min since i last went off track. same Cumulative 25h 11m off track in last 12 days. i dont really have a plan now, so i have nothing to focus on. I did everything on my plan. Oh, except R. I should do that. Consider this: last 12 days usually i accomplish all my tasks. That's unspeakably improbable for me. I have REAL problem with getting cocky about that. I dont know if i can stay humble, so God, once again, i ask you to step in and transform me into a better me. A humble and gracious me. A grateful me.

7:41pm :

it's been 2 min since i last went off track, but just for about 2 min. Just didnt start on my decided task. Just forgot what it was. Slipped my mind. Busy day. Kinda dazed. so Cumulative 25h 13m off track in last 12.5 days. Now for R task.

9:36 pm :

it's been 1h 55min since i last went off plan. Same Cumulative 25h 13m off track in last 12.5 days. OMG i finished everything on my list. I ran out of plan before i ran out of time. OMG when was the last time that that happened to me? 1997? This is embarrassing but i have to read the bible so i dont get conceited. Or overconfident.

Journey 7:30 am

Man yesterday was a struggle, I felt SO tired, but I made it through and got some work done, although I didn't really get it together until lunchtime.

Today I feel rested up and I will make my todo list now, then exercise and have a healthy breakfast.   At lunchtime I will go and get my car which is finally ready and the cost wasn't too terrible.   My work MITs are to continue working on the communication problem on Project T, and review yesterday's meeting on Project O.  Personal MITs are quiet time, dinner, dishes, laundry, dining room table, and make final decision about Christmas gifts and get the orders in.      And pick up the car, of course. 

Here goes, I feel ready to tackle this day and I'll check back if I feel myself slipping off the tracks.

Update 5:20 had a pretty good day.   I got off track for about an hour after picking up my car, otherwise stayed pretty focused all day.   Now to make dinner and do a bit of laundry and make some decisions about Christmas.

EleanorBE's Tuesday List - a new phase of recovery?

Hi everyone and thanks Jack.

Haven't checked in since some time last week. That's been because it's just seemed obvious what the tasks were - prepare teaching, teach, write book.  And although in the past few days I've been getting on with it ok, the idea of writing down just one main task for a day - the writing, over the weekend and today - has been depressing somehow. Anyway, it hasn't felt good not checking in. And I need to break down that One Big Task day by day, too. This feels like a new phase somehow. Facing the fact that amazing though it is to have made what really feel like great improvements in procrastination, not putting things off doesn't solve absolutely everything. Sometimes there is just too much to do because it's a hard time in the job for all of us right now. And I need to plan forward and decide when things are going to get done. Or whether some of them are not going to get done, because I shouldn't have said yes to it in the first place. 

Anyway, here's Tuesday, when I do have a variety of tasks. I'm going to try to guess how long I need to spend on each group of tasks
