HAPPY SUNDAY, EVERYBODY!

Tool Three of PA:
Ask Yourself Why: While you are visualizing doing the task, see if you can detect what it is about the task that feels odious to you, what uncomfortable feeling you are avoiding. Knowing what's behind the avoidance can help you get past it - for example, address real problems or ignore irrational fears.

Have a great proactive day and have a nice weekend!

Peace

clement ci - day 11 attempting abstinence

Here are my challenges

  1. pride, overconfidence. just cuz i have 10 relatively good days, it doesnt mean "now everything's different. The problem is fixed". It's not fixed. It's managed. I am strongly tempted to forget this reality.
  2. trusting the program rather than god. Thinking that somehow checking in, going to meetings, making a schedule/plan is saving me, without the divine intervention of god leading me to these tools, spiritually making me want to do them, and manipulating the effect they have on my life.
  3. [ i forget ;^) ]

It's been 9h 14min since i've been off task. 20 hrs 47min cumulative off plan in 10 days, since 11/8/2012. NFL RedZone is on and it's addicting.

Last night before bed bible reading. If there was EVER confirmation that abstinence from going off plan is the right way for me to go, THIS IS IT :

Slaves to God

You are slaves to the one whom you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted. 18 You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.

19 I put this in human terms because you are weak in your natural selves. Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to holiness. 20 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. 21 What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! 22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

v16 "slaves to obedience"

v18,19 "slaves to righteousness"

v22 "slaves to God"

v23 equates "the gift of God", freely given, grace, to being a slave to obedience, righteousness, God.

The bible teaches a paradoxical mix of freedom and slavery. I dont know how this plays out for "normal" people, but it seems to be perfectly tuned to my existence. "Recovery" sets me free from the slavery of addiction and procrastination, and gives me the opportunity to subject myself to the slavery of God. The "freedom" of will to choose the Next Right Thing at every point, is essentially slavery to obedience, or righteousness, or God.

2:59 pm :

i got off plan for about 2 min. It's been 10 min since i last went off plan. 20 hrs 49min cumulative off plan in 10 days, since 11/8/2012.

Next up is to plan the rest of this day.

Good luck with your day everyone.

Really upset that I couldn't even get the first proper thing on my list done. Feel useless...

So,um, didn't go well today

After falling at the first hurdle (although I fell a lot earlier than that) I don't get much done at all today. I was very upset for some of it, and willfully escaping into time-wasting for most of the rest. As always the link between depression, procrastination and poor self-image is as blurred as ever.

My working week begins tomorrow, and although it can seem like I get more done out of the house, it never seems to be the right things or the right time.

Wishing you all luck on your journey. Good night.

unfair Knitfisher

It seems to me you did quite a lot of things. I hope you will have a good day tomorrow and are able to feel that the things you accomplish are the right things. I hope this for myself also.
