If not now, when?
clement ci - day 10 attempting abstinence
10:10am :
hi i'm clement and i have an addictive personality, gratefully in recovery, and it's been 10 min since i last went off plan.
I was abstinent yesterday until 2am last night ( believe it or not, that WAS the plan ). Then 2 hours of not abstinent. Then this morning abstinent until about 10 min ago, which was 10 min of non abstinence.
so over 10 days about 20 hours off-plan. And 146 hours on-plan. Not including sleep. I'm going to count min and hours off plan each day, too.
:) 15 min plan
:) quiet time
:) MIT wk
10:35am :
It's been 1 min since i went off plan. I'm up to 15 min off plan today.
11:13 am :
it's been 38 min since i last went off plan. 15min cume off plan today.
and not only that but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character hope. - Romans 5:3-4 nkjv
and my john macarthur study guide explains the word character in a strikingly beautiful way :
character - literally "proof", a term used in the testing of precious metals to determine their purity.
so
tribulation produces perseverance which produces purity - as in the purification gold
tribulation produces perseverance which produces proof - as in it has been tested and is pure
that god would work in me to produce this purest of gold that is proofed -- my heart is smitten by the idea.
7:13 pm :
it's been 8h 39m since i last went off plan. ( 10:34am til now ). that was a good block. 15min cume off plan today. And the rest is fun.
11:59 pm :
back from movie. it's been 13h 27m since i last went off plan. But i dont have a plan. i should make one. Ok now i do. go to bed in 1/2 hr and til then i have free time.
12:42 am :
It's been 1 min since i last went off plan. i overshot my plan by 12 min. Not innocent. it was addiction. I could have stopped reading, put it on the list for tomorrow, or when i have time, but impulsively kept going. So, i add 12 min to my total, 17 min cumulative off plan today.
I have to deal w/ the disappointment i feel in breaking my streak. I can never, NEVER let the streak be the thing. It's never backward looking. Only forward looking. "It's been X since i last went off plan." It doesnt matter what X is, what matters is it is in the past, and however long, i'm at the beginning of a new streak about to happen. There, i cheered myself up. Thanks for leading me there, God.
Now to bed.

Rexroth Check In 07.53
Done:
Got a cup of tea and back in bed
Todo:
Up prayer and reflection
Get ready and go out to DA meeting - this is important to me
Collect prescription afterwards - I have been thinking I would do this when I passed the pharmacy on the way to somewhere else and I haven't for the last 2-3 weeks so I will do it today
Take out landlord file and work on it - I know what to do and it is an unpleasant job that I need to finish
Prayer and reflection
Bed and sleep
Regards Rexroth
Rexroth Check Out 22.28
Done:
All of above and phoned a friend to invite her over for supper and her response reminds me why I find it hard to phone her.
Didn't like DA meeting - too many selfish people sharing over the sharing time and a weak person not stopping them and people talking so quietly that they could not be heard and the room was a mess and... well that has exhaused my criticism and now for my own stuff which I can do something about...
Todo:
Go to bed and go to sleep

Another day:
As Hooch would say, "best wishes fellow strugglers. On and up". Thank you to Mole for the suggestion about doing one tile at a time for my kitchen floor. You never know, just getting the suggestion may make it happen! I'll keep you all posted in the saga!
