Procrastinators Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from chronic procrastination.
Well, today didn't shape up as I had hoped. Very fatigued after a busy and stressful week, my idea of putting in a "regular" workday fizzled between sleeping late and dawdling at home until mid-afternoon. But, I did manage to drag myself in to work - better than the last 2 Saturdays, when I just couldn't do it - and have spent some time doing my usual checking of news and sports sites. That is now done, and I will not check again until I get home.
Goal 1: Put in 3 solid hours of work, in timed 15 minute increments, with written tracking of each increment, chipping away at the big pile. Since it's Saturday, nothing will be added to the pile until Monday, so it's a good opportunity to regain some lost ground.
Goal 2: Leave at 8:15 PM (since I am starting my 3 hours at 5:15 PM). I have not been successful trying to leave during the week by around 8 PM, which only serves to burn me out by the end of the week. Maybe by "modeling" the idea of a somewhat firm work exit time during the weekend, I can continue with it into the week. I don't expect it will immediately "take" since I am stuck in a well worn groove. On the other hand, I have been reasonably successful, admittedly with some relapses, especially the last couple of weeks since my out of town trip, at getting to work at a better time. My current unproductive workaholism may make me feel better - or at least less guilty - about my turn around time difficulties (i.e., I can't realistically work *more*), but it isn't improving my quality of life at all and still does not address the major issue of inefficiency while working.
Back to report, either *from home* tonight or maybe tomorrow.
Feeling really behind today (plus, I'd meant to get an early start, and totally failed at that, given that I'm just starting now...)
OK, I have 3 periods to work in:
*until 3 (Then I need to go home and meet potential roomie and take pictures)
*4:30-6:30 (Then go to friend's dinner)
*9:30-11:30 (then home and bed)
In the first period I need to:
*Do sectioning
*Photo
*Read 1
Woke late having slept for ten and a half hours of undisturbed deep sleep. I feel so much more relaxed but still a bit tired. The weather is cooler and things are quieter.
Done:
Up prayer and refelction
Checked emails and post
Posted payment that I had forgotton
Put some dry clothes away
Looked at scanned photos which I want to use with some writing - writing that I have not yet done
Todo:
Go through my list for things to do before I go away on holiday and also my list of things to do in preparation for travel later this year
Think about what I have and haven't done and why
From above decide on action
Finalize info on camera - I need some info on the bits that go with it and write this down - list questions to ask
Study French
Find info on scanning prints - list questions to ask
Wash up, clean cooker, put bits away from yesterday's flood, cook some food for freezer, revise shopping list as I am going away
