Haven't checked in here in a looong while. Poor health has been the consuming factor for the past month or so along with all of the obsessive researching to find a cure for an 'idiopathic' disease. Oh, and dealing with family that have a hard time dealing with my illness...
Finally getting my feet under me a little bit and would like to figure out a plan for moving forward.
I don't really have a list yet today but needed to reach out to ground myself a bit.
Flat out at work most of the day. Then had the opportunity to get home by 4.30pm as there wasn't time to get back to the office, and promptly wasted the extra time watching TV.
It's almost 1:00 pm and I haven't got anything done today. I'm further off track than ever with my goals.
I would like feedback from someone to monitor my progress through this site. A while ago somebody suggested that we monitor each other offline, however, I prefer online, as I don't want anyone to know my identity right away.
I have work that I promised a client last week. The client is not in a hurry, though. I've been working off and on with this client for a year and I let the project fall through the cracks a while back. I need help to negotiate my fee with the client as I haven't billed them yet.
My volunteer work has suffered as I'm falling behind in that. My apartment is a pig sty and I can't find anything. I'm letting dishes and laundry pile up for weeks on end.
I just can't seem to motivate myself to do anything.
If I get a little work done today I should count it as a success as I haven't made any progress in about two weeks. I started to watch TV when I have my lunch and then that will stretch to two hours.
When I try to start work i go to my email and a few websites which don't have anything to do with work. Before long it's past noon and then lunch and TV and it's 3:00 pm. Yikes!
This is what I will do for the rest of the day.
1 - 2 work for client
2- 2:30 lunch
2:30 - 4 - work for client
4 - 6 - elert, email for PIC speaker
6 - 6:30 - catch up on email, pay BMO bill, call friend M.O.
Would you like to work with me to check on each other? I work from a home office most times - sounds like you do too.
I am in Australia so sometimes the times are a bit awkward. Maybe we could have quick check-in meetings at set times in the chat box. At least that would get me out of bed lol.
OK, the weekend was kind of a waste (though I did at least manage to do some lit. search and cleaning, and collected sample and made raised bed and cleaned bathroom and did grocery store/inventory and started sample prep)
For today I need to:
*Resuspend probe
*Collect sample
*Make SMF notebook/update notes
*Embed, histogel/drop-off
*Make a schedule for the week
*Bio tutoring
*Deal w/ 100 emails and 50 papers
*Start meiosis project

Planning is deciding what to change today so tomorrow will be different from yesterday. —Ichak Adizes
A house is like a lump of clay that can be molded and changed. It can be
fixed and shaped, torn down and added to, painted, papered, carpeted,
and panelled. We can think about how to change it, find pictures in
books, and order plans. We can stock up on supplies, take fix-it
classes, and get advice from others. But the house will remain unchanged
until we pick up a brush, grab a bucket of paint, and get to work. Only
then will we see tomorrow the results of what we did today.
Our plans help us construct a vision of how we'd like the future to be, but
only actions will bring these things about. With confidence in the
rightness of our desires, we can be assured that God never gives us a
dream we can't reach.
What action can I take today to make tomorrow's changes?
Show up (done) Yesterday was the best mother's day ever, even my older son said Happy mother's day and hug before he went to sleep. I was struggling with relationships for several weeks and finally surrendered and like the meditation below, my HP took care of things. So greatful for 12 step programs like coda and PA and that I did not have to use an addiction to deal with feelings. (at least not yesterday- it is a daily reprive) Hope everyone has a blessed day.

May 9 - Harmony Within
Follow My Guidance. Be afraid to venture on your own as a child fears to leave its mother's side. Doubt of your own wisdom, and reliance on Mine, will teach you humility.
Humility is not the belittling of the self. It is forgetting the self. Nay more, forgetting the self, because you are remembering Me.
You must not expect to live in a world where all is harmony. You must not expect to live where others are in unbroken accord with you. It is your task to maintain your own heart peace in adverse circumstances. Harmony is always yours when you strain your ear to catch Heaven's music.
Doubt always your power or wisdom to put things right, ask Me to right all as you leave it to Me, and go on your way loving and laughing. I am wisdom. Only My wisdom can rightly decide anything - settle any problem. So rely on Me. All is well.
Well nice start of day but it is 3pm and harmony is out the door.
I am on the cla action line, listening to others report their actions.I am "getting ready"
I did walk, go to store, lunch with son and did some of his drivers test.
I did not do anthing with the issues I do not want to face.
I read following on line" I need to stop beating myself in my head, I noticed I am not alone with that on PA, so it helps to vent.
From Proactive Change site:
The Beatings will continue until morale improves.
The above statement sounds so incredibly absurd that it is funny. No one in their right mind would expect that this is an effective way to motivate people.
Yet, isn’t this what we often do when we try to motivate ourselves?
If you are browbeating yourself into doing things, you are letting a slave driver stand between you and success.
Remove the slaved river and you will be much closer to achieving your goals.
Well, time to start on a task so I can report and connect to CLA people.I just remembered I stayed up until 1am,got up at 5:30 am, I must remember that I am not exempt from the laws of nature. Why I watched that stupid show was beyond me and I even missed the ending.

Yesterday was kind of difficult for me because neither of my sons (who now both live away) got in touch to wish me a Happy Mother's Day. But it's not like I am on bad terms with them, and I was probably just as thoughtless at their age.
On the good side, I got LOTS of domestic jobs done and a friend I haven't seen for a while dropped around to see me.
To do today:
Work

access to info, ring/email dept if still not working
With young adult children (and husbands) I find that it is very helpful to start reminding them of these occasions about a month in advance! Forget about just sitting around and patiently waiting for them to notice you. For example: My birthday is coming up in a few weeks, I hope you'll be coming for a visit./ My birthday is in two weeks, THIS IS WHAT YOU GOT ME LOL

Everything done today except that which was beyond my control eg other people not available. Not an ambitious list, but glad to have it all done, although an earlier finish would have been better. Early start for my field trip tomorrow, must go to bed.
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY- with my sons I found that they thought they had to give me something, they could not just say it. This year one of them said it.Every year is different.
You are right, every year is different - last year my younger son was still home and made me breakfast in bed, which is kind of traditional in some parts of Australia - but I did give him some prompts!
They are great boys/young men - but I am still working on the empty nest thing - it is all a bit new.
