Grinding away

11:47 AM: Plan for today is to approach remaining work in stages.

Goal 1: 12 Noon - 2 PM: Try to finish 'bear' report from yesterday. Feel like I am getting close, but hard to be sure.Made solid advance, but did not finish.

Goal 2: 2 - 3 PM: Break for lunch, few errands, general mind clearing Had to deal with some work email. So much for mind clearing.

Darn it! I just realized that the
second of my 2 remaining 'bear' reports will require extensive work,
including background and things that should have been done before it
reached me. My fault for not checking on it sooner. But that means that
my forlorn hope of finishing up all my overdue reports by the end of my last
day tomorrow is now impossible. Well, I will have to set that aside for
now and try to get everything else tuned up. What a bummer. So much for
leaving with a clean(ish) slate. I feel totally anxious and stressed out.

Revised Goal 3: 4:30 - 6:30 PM, 6 cases in 2 hours

Revised Goal 4: 6:30 - 7:30 PM, more on 'bear' case 1 (still not done)

Revised Goal 5: Wrap up at 7:30 PM.

You are better than you were before and probably did more than you give yourself credit for. Progress not perfiection.

Thanks Vic

You are right, of course. Thanks!

Don't grind yourself down!

Hey, I hope you are able to let go of not finishing, and can do something that is self-nurturing!

Thanks Wanderoo

Letting go...always an issue. Thanks, Wanderoo!

Overslept! BC 8/26

Dunno what the hell happened but I overslept today, and I overslept badly. I am totally perplexed because I always set two alarms, and even when I have overslept in the past my biological clock wakes me up around 8, 8:30. I got in at 11 today... gonna go man up to my boss, and try to make the rest of the day productive.

tuffl, thanks for starting!

Good job

It's inspiring to see a clear list with so many of the items completed!

struggling, but willing to try again

I did ok with a paper list for a few days but the last three or four days (see how vagueness is a part of this, just like it is in DA) So sitting at the computer at 8:12, checking in. Last Thursday attended the face-to-face meeting here in Madison, plan to go tonight. Also, I will make a stab at keeping a timesheet ! (What could be worse than punching a clock!)

AM meds
List
meditate
breakfast

research info on vc

OK, it took me 30 minutes to make the list because I procrastinated because of perfectionism, messing with the html only partially successful. Arghhhh!Yell

help s. send photos

9:52: running a little behind, but hey--perfectionism is a trigger for procrastination!

10:15 leave for mtng

spent 15 minutes on email, 15 minutes on phone with Medline about blood pressure monitor

10:30 meet with sw
11:30 meet with dg, walk for exercise

I had forgotten dg was on vacation. spent 1.5 hours at one library working on pci, selecting dvds and checking them out, going to another library to pick a book I had on hold, checking out an offer to join a health club, driving home,

donate mags to library

1-1:30 quick checkin with s., check out other health club online, call other health club, update this comment!

pick tomatillos at garden
lunch

1:30-2:40 research other health club, research average health club prices, made list of fixed expenditures: I won't be able to afford joining a club

make salsa and freeze

45 min on office cleaning project

Spent a lot more time on the office cleaning project. maybe 1.5 hrs. sorted stuff from the pile into stacks. Still a cubic yard to go! And then some of the stacks need to be sorted again. And then I need to put everything in its place.

45 min on spending plan

learned from the work on the spending plan that I cannt afford the health club membership

30 min nap: well, that didn't happen

3:30-6:30 care for noah & isabel

I

6:30 leave for PA meeting
7:00 PA meeting

I'm not going to be able to go to the meeting. My wife and I need some time to check in, and I have a few more chores to do. I'll call someone on the list of numbers I got last time.

Did some more work on the big pile and some of the chores. I'm going to log out now. I could use your prayers/favorable regards to help me get to bed earlier. By 11. Like I said.

8:30 down time w s.
10:30 pm meds, dental hygiene, etc
11:00 pm bedtime

Journey 9:30

I was actually *late* to work today!   There was a loud thunderstorm at my house right at 5 am when I should have been getting up and getting ready, but instead we unplugged everything and crawled back in bed with our two gigantic dogs who are big babies about storms.   I could have skipped the gym, but I didn't want to, so I was late getting here.  :D   Now I need to hit the ground running and get some stuff done.

Yesterday was not a great day for productivity, I was distracted at home and didn't *really* start working until noon and then got blindsided with an unexpected task.   I worked pretty late and got some stuff done on my project from 4-7 but it wasn't one of my best days for sure.   Back in the office today and off to good start.   Already on a conference call and making todo list.   Laters!

UPDATE 5:30  made major progress on my primary project today.   I feel good about today's work.  I'm tired, and it's a good tired, it's nice to go home feeling that I really worked hard today.  8)

kromer 9 CI

Up on time (6:15ish), prayer time, breakfast, checked email, did a little surfing, now I'm ready to setting down to work.

Lots to do today!

Big tasks are:
*Kinda scary convo w/ coworker (feel like he's grabbing my project...rather than whining to my boss I want to address it directly and respectfuly with him...but ahh! not looking forward to this)
*Read about ascs, sscs and DNA rep
*Finish GSEA
*Talk to labmates and figure out best aim
*Make diagram, re-write specific aims and 2 research sections
*Talk care of expts

Other tasks:
*Re-write 3rd research section and abstract
*Deal w/ WM
*Rough prelim section
*RSVPs
*Notes
*Figure out mtg agenda
*Cooking, take care of garden
*Email R&R

OK, right now I'm going to start taking care of expts, then I'll go do some reading, then around 11 I'll figure out a strategy for how to best talk things over w/ my labmate and go talk to him, then I'll talk to labmates about possible aims.

kromer 12:35 CI

Thanks jo! Convo with labmate actually went really well, he was surprisingly generous and I'm going to do the project as planned.

I talked to labmates and figured out best aim.

Now, I'm going to finish GSEA, then go do reading.

Update 6:30 I started working on expts, finished GSEA, did reading on DNA rep and started reading on ascs. Now I'm working on writing.

@kromer

Good luck with the scary convo today!   I hate that kinda stuff!   Just tell him to back off or you'll punch him in the face!  (just kidding about that part of  course)

Helen's CI

Well today I have started documenting how I spend my time. I have made a rough study plan, I have a lot to do but I have two weeks so it is do-able. I walked for a bit today and did some reading. Some of my time this morning I can't account for, I was just spinning my wheels.

Right now I have finished eating and have that usual low energy dip. I will nap for an hour and then get on with stuff. Here is this afternoon's/ evening's plan (20 minute tasks)

Wash nets

Wash floor

Paint fireplace

Study * 3

Job hunt

Washing up

Read

Move table

Move sofa & cabinet

over the last days i got most of the things on my to-do lists done, which is a good thing. however, i keep putting off the MITs. big goal for today is to make progress on those, apart from the small everyday tasks.

reminder: i will not surf the internet mindlessly. i will not play silly computer games. everytime i'm tempted to do so i will try to think of the consequences and about whether i'm going to be satsified with the result of what i'm about to do.

I edit my original post to see what i've got done each day and once you reply to my post i can't edit it anymore! Simply click on the button saying "add new comment" to do so. you'll find it beneath the starter of the daily thread. Thank you!

@Elina

Elina,
