Thanks Rexroth for the start.
Hmm...let's see what else I can screw up. So far at my new job, I've broken the trays off the printer and jammed up the electric whole puncher (and the paper is so jammed in there it won't come out). This isn't my usual MO, and then I totally screw up the manual whole punching job next in front of the attorney's eyes. Feel like a total failure. He is already disappointed in me. It won't take too much more until I'm let go. I told him I'd pay for any damages. I usually don't break things, yes, the copy job is more my thing. The sad thing is I really feel like I can be an asset here. LOL, I'm so disappointed in me and of course self-pity, self-pity.

I know that you can succeed wherever HP decides to put you! New jobs are hard and stressful and I bet that your bosses understand that. Everyone has calamities at the beginning...what matters is how we recover from those calamities, and sounds like you are working on setting your mistakes right. Keep going and we're behind you, let us know how we can support you.
(((Hope))))
They don't make the printers very robust these days. Hopefully next week will be without incident and will fade with time. Perhaps be proactive about putting this right? Look up the replacement parts, order them via the supply person and write a cheque so as to make the whole thing as easy as possible for them to sort out.

Your advice, support, and hugs are just what I need. Thanks for being there for me.

One day at a time
Instead of getting to bed at 11 pm last night it was 1 am when I finally dragged myself quietly into the bedroom and under the covers. Took longer to finish kitchen chores than I thought, some blank space in my memory of what I might have done and at the end, spent probably an hour reading new Rolling Stone cover-to-cover. Slept until after 9 pm.
But I'm here again. Thanks for the encouragment last nite in chat room.

Wrapping up
10:26 AM: Last day at the lame duck job. Tomorrow I will move my office contents to storage until I am ready to move to my 'fresh start'. Today, tho, is just another day, so on to it! To try to keep from getting too anxious, will break the day into 1 hour increments, so I can see some progress in the three areas I need to work on: finishing up the 'bear' case, finishing up some regular reports, and releasing a stack of reports that only require minor final edits and typo scans.
10:50 AM - 11:50 AM: 'Bear' case
11:50 AM - 12:50 PM: 2-3 cases, 1 hour
12:50 PM - 1:50 PM: 'Bear' case
1:50 PM - 3:00 PM: Break
3:00 PM - 4:00 PM: 2-3 cases, 1 hour
4:00 PM - 5:00 PM: 'Bear' case (if needed) or 2-3 cases, 1 hour
5:00 PM - 6:00 PM: 2-3 cases, 1 hour
6:00 PM - 7:30 PM: Release reports
7:30 PM: Wrap up
Obviously, there may be some changes necessitated by circumstances. Back to report

e showing up for Friday, 8/27/10
I woke up late again this morning, but feel pretty good. My body is stuck in such strange sleep patterns: half of my daily sleep happens during the day now. Not good. In any case, I am pleased that I managed to get the kitchen clean before I went to bed last night and there aren't ANY dirty dishes in the kitchen sink yet. Clearly A isn't here!
I have some incomplete organizational tasks laying around the house that I would like to take care of. The first priority is to run a bunch of errands today: that will take care of a lot of the mess in the front entryway. If I can do that I will be in a much better place. MIT will be to find the car registration or get a second copy.
But the very fist focus will be on me, taking care of my body by stretching, bathing, grooming, meditation.
11:53: taken care of. I do need to repaint my toenails and I don't do it because I am not good at it, but it never is enough of a priority for me to stop and do it. I am going to make a phone call to the registry about the duplicate registration and then paint my toenails.
Success is not final, failure is not fatal

Wow, today I had a heck of a time getting started.
Main task for today is *writing*. Want to get a rough draft of re-arranged proposal done (inc. preliminary results), then I can polish it up tomorrow.
Also a few other tasks: set up mtg, email about prelim and cooler, notes from mtgs, clean up bench, set up expts. And a little reading: reading CSB.100, find RAR and oogenesis papers.
But I'm going to start with the writing. Going to burst for a while. Going to work on this until lunch and then I can work on sth else afterward lunch for a while.
Journey 9:20
Wow, another night of storms last night caused us to have disrupted sleep again and I'm getting a late start again. At least I did make it to work on time today
Coffee, todolist, later.

Thanks Wanderoo!
Just back from my nice weekly lunch with co-workers. One short task, then I need to make two phone calls *ugh*. Then, why did I write 'book' on my todo list? I have no idea what that means lol! Back after the phone calls.
UPDATE 2:15 phone calls made yay! I hate making phone calls. And I figured out what book is! It's a short task and I'm going to do it now.

Show up (done) Think it through. Sometimes when I see all the pieces of my self sabatoge going on, I feel overwhealmed and hopeless. Thank goodness I do not have to give up.
cla talks about "Spiritual timing"in a pamphlet :
Our lifelong problem was lack of spiritual connection. We had tried to manage time, an impossible task. Clock time is incomplete and divine time is beyond our comprehension. By using rest, availability, receptivity, emergence, andrecognition, we cooperate with spiritual timing. We let the Master Artist sculpt us anew with each divine appointment. Our Higher Power is now our time manager.
I have to believe something beyond my comprehension "wants to " help me with all this, so I keep showing up, even though sometimes painful and so close to shutting down.

re: Driven to Distraction
I scored pretty high on the ADD tests, and although I didn't qualify for an ADD diagnosis, I figure I have the tendencies eh? This book was very helpful for me. I highly recommend it if you consider yourself easily distracted, even if you don't have ADD.

Hey
Elina,
I've been reading the last few days threads so I don't know if you haven't seen it but please start your own comment for the check-ins. Once someone replies to your original comment the originator can no longer edit it. I know this bothers some people so just giving you a heads up.
Instructions from journey that were posted yesterday:
"Please choose 'add new comment' at the top of the page to add your post, instead of replying to another post. Thanks! If you're having trouble with this feel free to email me directly by clicking my name then clicking 'contact'. We love seeing your posts, so please keep posting, just not as a reply."
Hi
Thank you both for telling me this. I did not realize it. :) Now I see this "Add new comment".

re: elina
I sent her an email, so maybe she'll get the message. I have a feeling she's checking in from a mobile device so that may be why she's having trouble.
