Sunday 22 August 2010

Welcome to a new week

Another seven days of chances to get on with it

Relapse

After an initial week of excellent progress I have relapsed back to where I was. I am checking in to say that I will put my list up in the morning and do my best to get back on track. Hmm, this is hard. Will try to stick with it though.

(PEA)

None of us got this way over nite and we are not going to change over nite. Endorse yorself for your effort and the one week of progress. One day at a time. Vic

re: relapse ((((PEA))))

Don't beat yourself up too much; this is a hard change to make.   Just get  back on the horse and face forward!

Meeting List programmatically updates link for Sunday Mtg time

Movingalong - don't know if you noticed, but the Meeting List I posted automatically updates the link to the World Clock so it goes to the next Sunday after the current date (or today, if today is Sunday). Pretty cool, huh? :)

So you don't have to keep posting the link every week, unless you want to.

OK, feeling incredibly overwhelmed but I'm just going to do my best

Have a lot that I *could* and *should* work on, and never made a plan for the week, so I guess I'll just pick a few tasks and get to them. Here is a list of the things I'd like to get done today, with most important in bold

OK, well I seriously need to start studying for prelim. So, I'll:
*Read about meiosis and take careful notes
*Find a review on adult stem cells, read, and take careful notes

And, I have a meeting with MK tomorrow that I need to prep for. That means:
*Read 4 of her papers
*Make plan for tubule sep. tomorrow

I have a subgroup meeting that I want to present *something* at tomorrow. This is not going to be perfect, but I want to at least have something. I'm going to try for:
*QC presentation
*List of top overall genes
*List of top gs genes

I have a number of chores:
*Mail letter and send email
*Check on WM
*Call parents
*Email R & R
*Grocery shopping
*Hand laundry
*Organize bench

OK, going to go do the meiosis studying now.

1.Show up (done)  2.Think it through.
Yesterday I wanted to relax 5-10 minues before I went out to walk, I asked myself," and then what ?"and deep down I knew either I would not go or that I would procratinate after 10 minutes abd it would be more like an hour or two and much harder to get out the door. So I just put on my sneakers and went. It was a real help to "think it through" before I "picked up"
I need to remember 1 day at a time Just For Today

Just for today my thoughts will be on my recovery, living and enjoying life without the use of my "comfort triggers"

Just for today I will have faith in someone in PA who believes in me and wants to help me in my recovery.

Just for today I will have a program. I will try to follow it to the best of my ability.

Just for today through PA I will try to get a better perspective on my life.

Just for today I will be unafraid, my thoughts will be on my new associations, people who have found/ trying to find  a new way of life.

Slo-mo Sunday

10:34 AM: Really bored and 'blah' for so early in the day. Perhaps the prospect of yet another half-day grinding away (more like *trying to make myself* grind away, which is the real effort) is dragging me down. Other things are on hold until this job ends next Friday, but things still pop up like pesky critters in my ongoing "Whack A Mole" game of life. Alright, hopefully no stressful phone calls this morning.

Goal 1: Out of here by 11:30 AM. Have to make myself moderately presentable first. Back later with more goals.

2:22 PM: Actually got out by around 12:30 PM. No real reason, just very slow to get ready. Made it in to work, started to play around with email, found some I  felt I had to respond to, then visited news sites...in short, wasted about an hour. Okay, time to get busy.

Goal 2: 2:30 - 5:30 PM: 3 hours, 9 cases. Back to report.

Turned out to be 3.5 hours, 8 cases. It's funny, though. I don't really find it that satisfying. Somewhere in my mind, I harbor this little hope that somehow, something will 'click' for me and suddenly I will be completing 20 cases in 3 hours and the sun will rise. Well, I have to find a way to take *some* pleasure in small steps forward. That is difficult for me right now. I have this feeling that if I am not the lead horse, the view never changes.
