Gwen D: Has already given up. But will try again.

I slept very little. The weather is very odd.

I was up most of last night. On the computer. Now I'm punchy and unfocused. And am deeeply procrastinating. On every front.

I need to post a music iMix about "time passing" somewhere here, then I will try to move on.

Gnothi Seauton ~ Know Thyself

Gwen D: Will be back in half hour with a plan.

Gnothi Seauton ~ Know Thyself

Gwen D: CI 12:47p

I am brain dead. Crashing hard. But the show must go on.
I must do something on my list. I'm gonna be nice about setting myself up.

Maybe I'll feel okay if I do these three things in the next half an hour. Okay, 45 minutes.

Check in with Claudia's editing problem
Get maps from front desk and deliver to boss
Get all set up to write the request for edits in a Word Doc, look at last yrs files, make list of editors
Eat my sandwich.

Gnothi Seauton ~ Know Thyself

Go Gwen!

Best of luck getting through your tasks, hope you can take a break soon!

Encouragement to Gwen!

Cheer yourself for even tiniest task (or section of task) done.  Then do another little piece.  You can do it!

Hugs!

Gwen D: Priorities Shifting, But Mood Lifting

Thanks, PA buddies!

I have to do a flyer for HR NOW NOW NOW

then I can get to the edit request doc set up

then, the nice to do's might include taking laptop to cafe to do web updates and eat my lunch

Hmmm. I'm procrastinating lunch, aren't I? Maybe, but I have to do this. It won't take long. I'll be back.

Gnothi Seauton ~ Know Thyself

Gwen D: 9:49 CI

I did the flyer. It looked good.

Also did the updates.

Today was not a day I got to work on any of my big projects, but it wasn't so bad.

I had two great exercising experiences. Tai chi in the park this morning, and swimming after work. The weather makes me feel like I'm on vacation.

If I get some sleep, I can be fresh tomorrow. Time to go!

Gnothi Seauton ~ Know Thyself

movingalong's Singing in Rain Glorious Feeling Thursday (giggle)

Laughed at today's Singing in the Rain thread starter!

Found this:

Second verse of song Singing in the Rain:

Why do I get up
Each morning and start?
Happy and head up
With joy in my heart
Why is each new task
A trifle to do?
Because I am living
A life full of you.

Cool, eh?  And you don't have to procrastinate time looking it up, because I've already procrastinated that for everyone!

It is only 6:37 AM here, and I am still groggy.

Movingalong says:

Here's hoping all tasks will be trifles to do,
because here I'm inspired by my friends -- all of you. Laughing

Movingalong's Thursday plans:

Continue working on this week's commitment (that I made on the Sunday 11 May thread):

  • Work on legal-financial stuff.
  • Will commit to working in chunks of time, with short breaks for fresh air.

I've had a few days off from work -- and have been working on the legal-financial stuff all week !   It's been tough going, but I've made some progress.

Okay, it has felt as difficult as molasses going uphill in winter -- so much resistance -- so I would say my activity has been 80% distraction and 20% work.

But this is still an improvement, seeing as I have been delaying for YEARS on some of this stuff.

Today I hope to up the productivity percentages!  Today's thread theme has me psyched and ready to go!

Plan of action for today:

  1. Review the 12-Step paragraph on commitment mentioned in my Sunday Commitment post:
    http://procrastinators-anonymous.org/node/1427#comment-20380
  2. Review my game plan from my Ruby Tuesday post:
    http://procrastinators-anonymous.org/node/1436#comment-20467
(By the way, this seems to be working!)
  3. Coffee, breakfast

  4. Happy music as I tapdance through my legal financial paperwork!

laughing @ moving tapdancing through paperwork!

e's 3:45 check back

It has been a quiet yet productive day. There are new germs lurking around the library, so I have frequent handwashing on this afternoon's to do list.  My body has decided that it has finished for the day, so I will see how much I get done.

I have sorted through about a 3rd of the photographs for H. More to go. Gotta clean up my desk. Spent some very good time learning some of the databases. Dinner is set for tonight, so we shall see.

Perhaps this is a job for... chocolate!

Journey 8:30

I was REALLY early to work this morning.  Maybe school is out?  I'll have to check.

I stayed up a little bit too late last night, not too much though.  I'm still feeling sleepy this morning.  We'll see.  I meant to go to bed an hour early last night but instead stayed up 1/2 hour late.

I have an important meeting at 9:30 so my first item on the agenda is to prepare for that meeting.  Well, coffee is first, and that's second.

Journey 10:05 and updates throughout the work day . . .

Yep, school's out for the summer!  Traffic will be great until August 13!

The meeting is done, and that was the hardest thing on schedule today. I'm taking a break!  back about 10:20

Update 11:15 Arrrggghhh!  Where did this last hour go?  I've been doing some random stuff and responding to email, but not working on my MITs.  I'm stressing out over the meeting, which is OVER, and stressing out over my budget, which is DONE.

Journey bangs her head on the keyboard. d;kjlsfskjdlf!  OK, back to work.  I need to - scratch that - I WANT to get the minutes from the meeting finished and posted before lunch.

12:30 k, the minutes are done and posted.  lunch break.

1:20 had lunch and read a bit of Hillary Rettig's e-book that someone posted about.  That's a good little book.

I'm kind of a wreck today, feeling nervous and stressed, and flitting around from activity to activity with no real purpose.  I've done two of my MITs in spite of it, but I've wasted some time in meaningless dithering too.  I have a lot to do before this weekend's change window so that is probably contributing to my nerves, but the stuff I need to do is doable.  I just need want to focus on my work and get it done.

So: breaking up my tasks into SHORT segments - and checking in frequently.

Next item on the agenda:  write up our weekly accomplishments for the boss.  then check back.

Update 2:00 pm:  That's done, now I have a conference call with a vendor so I can ask some stupid questions in front of my brilliant coworker, who would have probably had all this stuff figured out two weeks ago.  Maybe I'm a little nervous about that, too!

Update 2:30: conference call over, and it wasn't that bad.  I didn't look like a complete idiot, and I got some help from the vendor.  Now, another double check of some numbers for the weekend changes . . .

Journey 4:45 CO

double checking is done, I'm going to do one more task for this weekend, and then go home!  I'm glad this workday is over, it's been stressful.  The funny thing is that the stress is all of my own making lol . . . but I made it through!

I'm picking up dinner again tonight, didn't plan ahead for meals this week since I was babysitting over the weekend.  There should be few, if any, dishes, so I'll fold a load of clothes and prep for tomorrow.  And go to bed early!

Journey pushing through the stress -- doing short segment tasks

Way to go !

Despite "feeling nervous and stressed, and flitting around from
activity to activity with no real purpose" and having "wasted some time
in meaningless dithering", you pushed through and got M.I.T.'s done...
and are still moving forward.

thanks moving !

hi e, lark, edge, clem ci 8:50, [multiple edits]

e, lark--happy for your good mornings.
edge--sound like it's going ok. progress not perfection.
clem--time to start your day, good or otherwise, as yet to be seen, now.
:)

[edit 10am]: [nothing to report... i fiddled w/ my edit window open until 11am]

[edit 11am]: time to stop fiddling. pick some MITs and do them.

[edit 11:22]: email interruption. done. now back to picking some MITs.

[edit 11:26]: finished a personal email that was distracting me. Finishing it in 4 min was an appropriate time allocation for it. The 20 min i spent before that was delving too deeply into something that's not MIT right now. Moving's post here: http://procrastinators-anonymous.org/node/1432 says "reviewing what you did ... and honestly acknowledging your errors -- but not beating yourself up -- or falling into worry or morbid remorse." It says to do that at night, but i'm doing it right now, and i'm making corrections.

[edit 11:42]: 20 min to support SO thru something. Now back to picking MITs (but another interrupion is on its way...)

[edit 12:02]: 20 min to complete one of my MITs. yea. Onto next.

[edit 12:07]: 5 min to pick MIT.

[edit 12:14]: 7 min on MIT, then phone call...

[edit 12:41]: 27 min phone call, close to MIT so i guess that's good. Back to MIT.

c ci 5:50pm

thanks moving. you're very encouraging to me!

completed my work MIT, and several home MITs.

Balance was too much home, tho. In a 12 step lookback evaluation sort of way.

not much time left for MITs. I should evaluate and set them. brb if i have time.

Thursday CI for Lark, 1:48am, 10:51pm

I'm getting an early start on Thursday. The morning promises to be hectic from the start, and I'm dealing with two unfavorite clients at once. Can you say "demand resistance"? Also in store is a dreary weather forecast, a sink of dirty dishes, and a large and expensive parcel via UPS. That'll prevent lush profits and any trips on Easy Street for a couple of weeks. Arrgh.
(X)morning routine
(X)spiritual time
wash dishes
(X)tidy house (It's really not bad.)
(X)paint door
(X)deal with first client
tidy garage and car
(X)client/project A
(GONE!!!)client/project B
(X)one section of project C
(X)check in if I have time

Oh, I hope you're feeling better, e!

e's kicking a check in

Up at 7 without an alarm clock, water, meds,  email checked, shower, washed bathtub, washed sink, got c up with a timer snooze, got A up and in shower, swish and wiped bathroom, dishwasher set to go off on timer, hot spot next to bed out, meds, water, hair,

now: shoes, walk to work, breakfast, photos, work on p at circulation desk, get money

This is how one should feel in the morning!
