Scarlett's daylong progress

Scarlett said (excerpts here from each of her five check-ins):

  1. Ta da: Eat breakfast, Take pills, Today's schedule
  2. lunch break to reward myself for what I had gotten done.
  3. I'm still working, so I'm going to call it a win
  4. Still making progress.
  5. Not bad for a day's work. Much better than it's been, anyway.

Smile  Love reading your successive progress through the day!  Always great to have a "better-than-before" day.

Thanks!

It was cool to see those things pulled out and highlighted.

Time to get on with today!

c ci 10am,10:45,11:05,2:40pm

i have 1 hr til i leave.
set MITs.

[edit 10:05am]: got my 1 MIT for right now. See, that only took 5 min ! :)

[edit 10:45am]: MIT 1 is humming. During waiting periods i worked on MIT 2. And i'm going to pick an MIT 3 for my remaining 10 minutes. Yes, just 10 min. Mini sub-task.

[edit 11:05am]: MIT 1 in good shape. Progress on MIT 2; did MIT 3.

[edit 2:40pm]: back from meeting. MIT 1 had a hiccup, but reached a new milestone. Time to do nex step on it. But, i did flounder for a few minutes.

[edit 3:15pm]: dozed at my desk for a bit. got coffee. Now going to talk myself thru in chat.

c ci 10pm,11:50,12:40,1:10

wow! we have a lot of recovering people on this site today. On the biggest loser, they sometimes state how many pounds everyone has lost. I wish there was a way to express the aggregate amount of procrastination we all did not do today :)

as for me, it's been a good day. Defining and executing MITs all day. Probably 3 times i looked at my list of 5-10 MITs and said, well, none need to be done *right now!*, they're all about equal, which should i do? I think i'll get a snack. No wait! I should just pick one, and then altho the others will NOT get done, this one WILL. (That sounds so reasonable :))

I have to now do it again. Define MITs for my last hour or 2.

[11:50]: wow, that took longer than i thot. Once i again, i had reason to be overwhelmed. But lookie here... i got it done. Rather than spending the last 2 hrs fritting away the time in fear and dread. Thanks PA. Thanks HiPO!!!

Any other MITs tonight?

[12:40]: Found a very significant MIT, dreaded it, used our chat to own it, and finished the task.

I think i'll find and do another while watching TV.

[1:10am]: late, but finished that MIT. Nice to get it off my chest.

And now, after doing so many MITs, i feel flush and hollow in my chest. What is that? Fear of success? Fear that i won't be able to do it tomorrow.

Shrink the self. When i do that, the feeling goes away. It doesnt matter how well i did, or whether i can do it again tomorrow. Tomorrow i dont have control over whether i will procrastinate or not. I just believe HP will be there for me. I'll give my life to him tomorrow, too. I'm not thinking past tomorrow.

one day at a time...

congratulations on your continual return to focus, clement.

8:53 am CI for Lark

Wow, it's a pretty day here. I hope yours are nice, too. Last week I pulled a festering task out of the box and did something to it. I'm doing something to it this week, and it'll be gone next week. It feels SO good, and it'll be gone by next week. Yippee.
Today:
(X)morning things
spiritual time
deal with client on finished project
do one section of next project
make work schedule for this week

lark unfesters task

> Last week I pulled a festering task out of the box and did something to it. I'm doing something to it this week, and it'll be gone next week. It feels SO good

isn't that a great feeling!

Yep, a wonderful feeling

Most of this stems from the attitude of the client, a real blankhole. Getting rid of him is most of my intent. When I'm resentful toward someone, demand resistance sets in with a vengence. Now ideally I'd like the coping skills to deal right off with someone like that. But, the next best thing is to just not do business with him. Almost the same result, sort of. I haven't been really productive this afternoon. The phone, people dropping by, etc. have thrown my off a bit, and I really needed about a 15 minute nap in the easy chair about three hours ago. Drag, drag... Thanks for everything.

Journey 8:30

Getting an early start this morning.  I've been to the gym, scanned email, and set my MITs for the day.  I have two meetings this morning, so I'll try to get a couple of my routine "on-call" duties out of the way before the first meeting.

Have a great day everyone!  First items on the agenda: coffee, do something with my hair, then check on-call stuff and follow up on trouble tickets.

Journey 10:50

My second meeting was cancelled woot!  I didn't do the oncall stuff earlier, I processed email instead, which needed to be done since I didn't do it yesterday.

Taking a 10 minute break then getting to those oncall duties.

Guess that was a 20 minute break! Back to work. checking tickets, double check change request, back at 12.

Journey 12:20

Worked for an hour on on-call duties.  This is boring stuff.  Taking a break then I'll eat my fruit while I double check one last thing.  back in 10

forgot to check back in, but done with my oncall stuff for the day.  Lunch break time!

Then, uh, not sure.  check back in half an hour with an update.

back from lunch, going to work on DR stuff for an hour

update

I did get back to work and I'm still working on DR scripts.  I have one more task to do on that and then I'll be at a good stopping point.  These scripts have to be tested and then put into production before June 7, and ideally I'd like to have them in two weeks before that which would be the 24th.  I have plenty of time, if I work on them at least an hour a day.

OK, about 15 more minutes on DR stuff and then I'm going to spend 15 minutes filing some stuff that is hanging on my wall and bulletin board.  My desk is fairly neat and organized, which makes the messy bulletin board even more distracting.

I'm picking up dinner tonight, and I plan to spend 1/2 hour on dishes and laundry, then watch American Idol.

I was not quite as productive today as I was yesterday.  I was able to get back on track when I lost focus, but I continually had to remind myself to get back on task today.  It was still a decent workday though.

As much as I hate to admit it, I think the lack of focus is due to lack of sleep.  I got about 5 1/2 hours of sleep last night and I really need 7 hours.  Need to get to bed early tonight!  It's just so hard to go to bed just when I have the opportunity to mess around with fun stuff on the computer.

See you guys tomorrow!

Jo

kromer 8

This morning:

*Finish studying for Spanish exam
*Leave for school at 9:30, take exam 10-11
*Revise Spanish script & email out
*Revise peer review letter and email out
*Do course evaluation
*Buy orgo book

That's enough to start, check back when that's done.

kromer 1:10 CI

Did all of the above.

Now I need to prep for an experiment tomorrow. Specifically, what I need to get done is:
*Take notes on mtg w/ PK
*Write out procedure/organize lab notebook
*Do calculations
*Reset cells
*Check on cells)
*Label tubes
*Measure out media
*Get key for tomorrow, figure out schedule for tomorrow

I'll start on this (taking notes/writing out procedure/doing calculations/checking on cells and figuring out what to do), then go to class 2-4, then get back to expt. prep.

movingalong's Ruby Tuesday plans

Today I hope to:

  • Take box of stuff relating to Big Task -- and put contents on table.
    • Take apart the cardboard box that formerly held all the Big Task stuff.  Put cardboard in recycling so I won't be tempted to refill box.
    • Bring trash and recyling out to curb before collection truck comes.
  • Go back to pile of "Big Task" stuff now on table.
    • Break Big Task into smaller projects.
    • Put each smaller project into a large folder and put it away in filing cabinet drawer labeled Big Task.

  • Prioritize the smaller projects by deadline and expense.
  • Now grab the folder of the most urgent smaller project and begin on that.
    • Recognize that I although I might need to break "Smaller Project" into steps -- I really don't need to overanalyze this.
    • Just start anywhere, so that I can get STARTED !

---------------------------------

way to go, moving!

Sounds like a GREAT beginning!

My day went something like this:

called work to confirm out sick

finalized arrangements for someone to cover meeting

slept

slept some more

sniffed, hacked, coughed, whined

ate some unhealthy things that were readily available

slept

checked email

slept

repeat

watched three downloads of recent House episodes when my son came home from school

laughed head off

slept

ate more unhealthy stuff

etc.

now it is 11PM and I am admiring your to do list. Tomorrrow, IF i get better, I will have on my to do list to do a to do list just like your to do list.

"e" accomplished her "M.I.T." of resting to get well

Good Job ! You didn't allow yourself to be distracted from your Most Important Task of resting !

Feel better soon E! and "House" rocks

House was awesome last night, and it was part 1 of a two-part season finale.  OK, it was a little far-fetched, and there's some glamorization of illegal drug use which I find distressing, but still awesome.  My daughter doesn't watch it anymore, she says it's the same plot over and over again but I'm still really enjoying it.  I love the interaction between House and his best friend whats-his-name, the oncologist.

I'm rambling.  Getting back to work now!

Wilson

The interaction between House and Wilson is what I get a kick out of, too. The illegal use of legal drugs is not bothering me particularly: it falls into the same category as the breaking and entering, and kidnapping: all are completely out of bounds, but the irreverence is what makes it fun for me.

WDV CI - 9:50 am

Goodmorning! After a long weekend of dedicated gaming and relaxation, it's back to work! This week I need to make some deadlines for work, so no time to write on my report...

Today:

  • Contact D
  • Finish deliverable for S
  • Work on C

WDV CO - 10:20pm

I did the first 2 of the above, and while I hoped to have done something on C, the achievements on S were enough to make it ok.

Now relaxtime. It's tempting to start working on C, but I know that if I do that, my motivation tomorrow will be extra low. Better to stick to the schedule.
