Procrastinators Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from chronic procrastination.
I did "write" for 15 minutes. I took a friend's advice and tried to "write the block" because I didn't feel ready to actually write my dissertation. I know that will have to change. But, "for today" . . . I am done with that.
Now I am going to go out and enjoy the (beautiful!) day -- or some such.
Hi everyone. Frustrated that I didn't finish my main goal yesterday. It wasn't difficult or disgusting, either. Well, today... To do: (X)morning things spiritual time finish that job (X)work hour on project B (X)spend rest of time on any other work project (X)order supplies (X)return excess items take cat to neighbor's and spray for fleas here sort workshop for fifteen minutes (use timer) visit elderly relative go to 12 step meeting
Stopped work on landlord's file shortly after last posting and put stuff away. Then felt confused as I wanted to work on it into the evening and I am told that this is not a good way of going about things
when you say "I am told this is not a good way of going about things"?
Do you mean that if you continue to work on the file you might be "time binging"?
One suggestion is to talk to your Higher Power (whatever that is for you) and ask whether you want to continue working on the folder because you have the time and energy and it is a higher priority than anything else you'd be doing now -- i.e. "why not?" OR whether you want to continue working because you want to get this thing done at all costs (even if it throws your sleep schedule and other stuff out of whack), i.e. whether you've become fixated on it.
Yep Nan, time binging was exactly what I meant and I feel glad I stopped and did other things. The work is important but not urgent as I have at least two weeks to finish it.
To do
It's 2:15. Been looking at the internet and stuff. Need to focus on the priority.
Better late than never: I am committing to 45 minutes of work on my dissertation (however tangentially). Will be checking back in in 45.
Hello to you all and thank you for being here on this thread with me! Just reading your posts helped me.

Did the 45 minutes
It consisted of removing post-its from two library books and putting them in two copies I just bought. Still. It's progress.

Did the 15 minutes
Baby steps.

Good for you for committing to 15 minutes and sticking to it. It might sound like a small thing, but it's not!! :)

It's 10:30, I've been at work for almost two hours. I haven't done any work or even eaten my breakfast! This is Not Good. So!
To do:
Eat breakfast
Take pill
email: markets
email: seats
Next CI: 11 am
let's see...
In the past ten minutes, I've gone to the bathroom, checked my email (AGAIN) and looked for a used book.
None of these things are on my list.
Refocusing yet again.

I'm not quite sure what you're asking . . .
when you say "I am told this is not a good way of going about things"?
