Tuesday 26th August 2014 - daily check-in

Jack's Daily Check-in

Hi everyone.

I am currently working the Steps in another fellowship, and have been guided to pick up some of the wonderful P.A. tools again. I thought I would try Tool 10, bookending my daily tasks today with a daily check-in. For some reason I couldn't start a new thread, so I thought I'd recycle this old one from last year.

If anyone would like to use this thread today as well, feel free to do so. Please do not reply to this thread so that I can keep editing it, though prayers are welcome!

Struggling today and unfortunately must say that the above quote does not always hold true for me :-( Fear often follows action in my case. I fear whatever response/reaction is going to result from the action. I think the answer is to keep taking action, but I often tend to freeze...

Oh well: so far the morning routine is still working pretty well so I want to stick with it.

Today I will:

Back from a cold

First day back at work after a cold. Started convincing myself I am a fake at my job and I'm about to get found out.

I'm going to take this week one day at a time, and just settle back in , lremember to breathe and hand it over to a power greater than myself.

Today my plan is to

  • work on the M report, really finish up the introductory sections
  • transfer my rent
  • make a plan with Mandi about paying her back
  • AA meeting at 6:30
  • portuguese lesson when I get home tonight
  • Step 10 work
Have a great day everyone. Again, still wondering if anyone is in South Africa and wants to set up a call.

@realpro

clement ci - day 290 attempting abstinence, 210 from self

Abstinence from unplanned time.

  • The one thing, the only thing, i can do impulsively is write something on my todo list.
  • The one thing, the only thing, i can do off plan is recovery, something to maintain my sobriety, when tempted. I have come to believe that it is more important to maintain sobriety than to get things done.

Abstinence from relying on self. AA Big Book says to rely on God. Quoted in my bookmarks : scroll down to "AA Big Book on fears : relying on God not self-reliance:"

  • I have come to believe that it is more important to maintain sobriety of relying on God than to get things done.
    • "15 Points" point 5 says:
      5. Develop and rehearse a daily plan of thinking and acting by which you will live that day relying on God, regardless of what may upset you or how hard the old urge to rely on self may hit you.

      My Plan is this:

      1. read "15 Points"
      2. Meditate for 5 min on the attributes of God

When we retire at night, we constructively review our day (BB).
  • Were we resentful, selfish, dishonest or afraid?
--- yea a couple times. Lord help me Love everyone as job 1.
  • Do we owe an apology?
  • Have we kept something to ourselves which should be discussed with another person at once?
  • Were we kind and loving toward all?
--- not bad, but there were some sketchy times. Lord help me love always.
  • What could we have done better?
--- not chatted a new site so much. Got to limit time. It helped my mood greatly, but impacted my productivity. Need to tune this better.
  • Were we thinking of ourselves most of the time?
--- I did suffer from some ego today. Lord disabuse me of this habit.
  • Or, were we thinking of what we could do for others, of what we could pack into the stream of life?

THINGS I AM GRATEFUL FOR (everything i "did well" comes from god, either thru gifts he's given me or the way he's transformed me)

Club w/ my boys.
Family TV time and meal.
Helping my wife.
Working on my MIT--good session.
Felt close to god all day :D

Day3

Thanks to Mole for starting this thread &sharing, thanks also to Lennon for sharing and clement &Gloria yesterday.

I admit that I am powerless over my procrastination and debt and that my life had become unmanageable.  I came to believe that a Power greater than myself could restore me to sanity and I made a decision to turn my will and my life over to the care of God.

"Its not about the tasks - its about listening to the moment and going with the flow of the spirit.

Its not about the money, its about listening to the simplicity of need and contentment.

Its a big day today re volume of potential tasks vying - some really important & some just empting to pip higher tasks off the post. With gods help in the moment I'll be able to judge what to do best.

8awake - good rest, devotion

945 check in

My priorities today - 3 good study sessions - morning, afternoon, evening. Use timer

Wrt money- shouldn't need anything except milk &petrol.

Important & urgent tasks: Gina

Payroll: new paperwork

Ring Liam & n

Cancel Dr magnusson

Less important or urgent

Ian\Andrew

Ben c

Look up train v plane

 Xigent

Start research for Eddie- 15mins only

For sanity: some kind of exercise

Eat healthy

Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty. zechariah 4:6

Bit stuck

Good start with some impprtant jobs done efficiently- apt cancelled, gina emailed, msg liam. also listened to one study podcast.

Then the mind tyranny started & its 1420 and almost sitting paralysed at desk as lists of to'dos and worst case scenarios parade past!  Just do them quickly as things are never as bad as they seem but they do getworse if you leave it!  And its not about punishing yourself - your are a new creature, don't drag around old burdens.

So not by power or might:

ring Ian/Andrew - get new forms sent

study w timer until 1700

go for walk & print out forms

cook dinner

ring l & N; gran; research for ed

nighttime study - 2xtimer sessions

in bed by 10 lights out 11

still stuck but hopeful - new day tm

well - stilldidn't do any study but got to go to bed and rest so that tmr has the best chanc of a good day.

 rest well everyone.
