Making an effort

I've been too stressed lately to even care that I'm procrastinating. So I've decided to make a Lenten effort and at least check in here every day, even if it's only to make myself do something very small.

Tonight I'm going to throw away some of the rubbish in the kitchen.

RisingUp Check-In 2/13

MEGA-depressed today. Very tired, thanks to teens up till 1am talking. My living situation is deteriorating fast, after 2 months.

But God came through for me in a major way yesterday!

I gave offering at church of all the change I had in my purse: $1.73.

The Lord blessed me with $90, without me even having to ask, from another churchgoer who was there and felt that God told her I needed the money. Now I am able to pay my rent from last week and this week!!!!

Also, I was willing to pay $25 toward my phone bill yesterday. But somehow, my zip code didn't match. Because of that, the phone guy let my entire past due balance be due 2 weeks from now, instead of just the balance after $25. I'm so low on cash that the $25 meant I could get half a tank of gas for my car.

So, God keeps trying to show me that I can trust Him to take care of me. I am one of those people who is so fearful I don't trust in anything. I worry constantly. So this is his way of showing me in a practical way that he is watching and proving he is trustworthy.

God, I am sorry for having such a hard time trusting you. I am still worrying about my housing situation, job situation. You have provided for me all the way through my hell, so why would you stop now ...

Thank you, in Jesus' name I pray for your continued understanding even when I am a real piece of work.

RisingUp

Thank you for sharing

This is a wonderful story of faith.  I hope the connection you find with God and the trust you have found in him gorw stronger every day.

Journey 9 am

Happy Wednesday!   I took yesterday off work and took care of getting my tags and driver's license renewed.   I ended up working for a couple of hours on my day off yesterday afternoon so I'm starting a bit late today.

I've checked email and calendar, and I have a meeting in 35 minutes which gives me 30 minutes for exercise if I start RIGHT NOW

Update 11:15 - I guess it goes without saying I am working from home today.  Here's the list - it's pretty detailed today cause I have a lot of small things to catch up on and I don't want to miss them:

  • Project M - follow up on missing responses
  • Project C - reschedule test
  • Take a shower at lunch break

  • ADDED = PROJECT M - LAB UPDATES

Update 3 pm - additional high priority task on Project M arose - this will push some lower priority tasks off the bottom of the list, which is ok.

Update 6 pm  Now to make dinner and do the dishes.  I'll feed the birds quickly before it gets dark, but the other stuff I didn't get to can wait.

9:26am : it's been 1day, 10min since i last went off plan. I think i had my first day, 100% on plan. At night i was really feeling strong withdrawal and the urge to act out. But i stopped and prayed, and God gave me strength to continue to go to bed. now v & qt & r.

7:10pm : it's been 5 min since i last went off plan. I went off plan at about 5:50 when i watched TV cuz i was beat. I could have designated a break, but i didnt plan it, i just did it impulsively. God is already and will continue to break this addiction. He's making progress in me, but not finished yet.

8:38pm : it's been 1h 33min since i last went off plan. Hmmm, i'm on-plan but extremely tempted by my addiction to act out (go off plan, wildly, with abandon--does not mater one iota what the activity is. net. tv. work. Just something to dull the senses and escape). I'm gonna read "15 points for someone who's addicted to relying on self to consider when confronted with the urge to rely on self and not God"

"Relying on God, the magnificent obsession"

The pamphlet confirms that the #1 thing, the most important job in my life it to resist the temptation to indulge my addictive personality, to "use" my drugs. Number 1! So if i get nothing done tonight except one thing: prevent "using" i am victorious. Now THAT is very different way of looking at it.

But from God's point of view, i am saying my #1 job is to rely on him and not myself. The bible would back up that idea, enthusiastically.

"8. Don't permit yourself to think relying on self will help you get something done, make you feel confident, provide a sense of accomplishment, or boost your self-image. Substitute the thought: 'Relying on self will mean separation from God.'"
