HAPPY MONDAY, EVERYBODY!

Tool Five of PA:
Avoid Time Bingeing: One reason procrastinators dread starting is that once they start they don't let themselves stop. Plan to work on a task for a defined period of time, then set a timer. When the timer goes off, you're done.

Have a great proactive day!

Piqued's check-in

How can it be 4:24 PM with nothing accomplished? Sigh. Once again, I'm paralyzed by the thought of making a to-do list. Ridiculous, but "it is what it is."

Goal:
1) Look in CQ, pick a defect to work on, and work on it. Finished!
2) Look in CQ, pick another defect to work on, and work on it. Made good progress...

EOD thoughts: I'm pleased to have made some progress on a task that intimidated me. Apparently I put in about seven hours at work today. Not all of it was productive, but it was immeasurably better than yesterday.

gotmusikk's (better late than never) check-in

This morning, I processed my whole inbox!! HOORAY!  I had quite a bit of catching up to do.

And now I'm telling my internal Negative Nancy to stop dissing me and let me be proud of that accomplishment.

I've been "off task" (organizing/printing out P.A. meeting materials and other motivational tidbits), and am feeling bad about that too.  HENCE, the need for a check-in to keep me on task for the rest of today.

Journey 10 am

Yesterday was a good day even with a couple of unexpected tasks showing up.  Today I am getting a slow start.  I totally have brain fog this morning.    I got sidetracked because I was all determined to make a phone call as soon as I arrived at 9 am and then the place doesn't open until 9 am pacific time and I'm on eastern lol.  So far, I've read email and checked calendar, otherwise nothing.   I will do the agenda for noon meeting right now then do todo list for the rest of the day.

Update 1pm Noon meeting done - someone almost passed out in my meeting and had to be helped to the restroom - I swear Toastmasters is good practice for like, everything.

Now to give the software vendor a little nudge on Major Project - cause he's supposed to be back in the office today but I have yet to get a reply to my emails.

Update 3:30 Major Project moving along again now.

musti's 12/3/12 check-in

Thanks for the reminder lennon. Good luck and godspeed to all.

10am and beginning at last!

Start with three 25/5 minute periods to:

Go thru shop and group pieces by job.

Write actual notes on tasks to be done by job

" .................................................... by individual piece.

Breakdown tasks on each piece (with an eye on ADD/OCD) so that I can get an idea (!!) of timeframes.

check in after.

Well, 2pm. Two hour lunch/browsing not exactly on task, but, what I accomplished this morning remains!

So...

Now until 3:30 or so, 3 work periods (25/5)

punchlist of items to remove from shop area.

list of what's needed for tasks #1 and #2

as much actual movement on the above as I have time for.

10:30am : it's 17hrs + 28 min since i last went off task. that 28 min was sorting tasks. Seems long but i have a hundred of them, and many of them are important and ripe. And so now i have a list of the most important, most urgent tasks to do today. Oops. I just realized, did i ask God? No. God, retroactively, can you show me what you want me to do today. Thanks.

10:54am : God wants me to be part of his people on earth today. At the end of the world, God will abolish evil. But today, in my own life, he calls me to be a foreshadowing of that, in the way i interact with my friends and enemies. Overcome evil with good. Thank you God for this message. Please help me live it.

11:27am : It's been 1 min since i last went off plan. dang. Well, New Beginning, right now. Thank you God for infinite new beginnings. also i went off track during my quiet time. Mind wandered. Both very short, Thank You God!

5:34pm : It's been 6h 8m since i was last off plan. God is with me.

9:34pm : It's been 35 min since i last went off plan. Watched football cuz it was on in the room. I need to plan that in. So i need to look at what else i need to get done. Wait. God, what would you have me do?

10:53pm : It's been 1h 54 min since i last went off plan. A little sketch at one point in there. Didnt have a firm plan, so not sure i was on or off. But i can be imperfect. God is with me, helping me.

Hello,

I definitely have been on the wrong track and am figuring out how to get my life back in order.  Once again all of the unfinished details have come together at the same time, forcing me to face them and deal with them.  It is easy to ignore them when there are just a few, but when they pile up, I know I need to finally do something...i don't have a a choice anymore.  So, here i am trying to figure out ...what to do.

1. send paper work to cy.

2. go through piles of unopened mail, sort and categorize important stuff

3. declutter desk so it can be used without stressing me out

4. send invoice to a

5 take care of z

6. appt at 3

Ive been busy cleaning up the mess that I made of things.  I am working on priority one...still.  I am thinking that I wish I would do things before they became a terribly uncomfortable crisis.  I can't stand the sick knot feeling I get in my stomach, which is directly tied to my procrastination. Anyway, I am very grateful to pro and pa, this is the only thing that has ever helped me get back on track.

after a while away from the board, I'm running into trouble again.  I've been really busy, but things are piling up.  I'm starting to get more depressed again, and it's coming up to the first anniversary of my husband's death.  I'm back to sitting here staring at the computer, with a pile of reports waiting to be written.

  • M's report

Blue-eyes' check-in

Hi everyone,

Happy Birthday, Knitfisher!

I'm feeling really good today because I got so much done on Thursday and Friday. Partly because of PA and my first check-in on Thursday, partly because of impending deadlines. That stressful feeling - the knot in my stomach - is gone, at least for now. Today I'm determined to stay in control of my time and not let the procrastination monster take over.

My list for today:

1. first draft of new translation

2. Prepare and send new invoices

3. Text on l.

Good luck, everyone!

10:30 pm:  I DID IT! I battled the procrastination monster all morning but in the afternoon I won and got serious and now I can cross off the three most important things for today (plus the laundry and tons of other little stuff that I also wanted to do, like answering personal email).  Thank you pro and PA!! I hope to remember this satisfied, stress-free feeling and build on it. Good night from Europe!

My check in for today

Didn't sleep to well last night. It was my own fault though. Had a light nap and decided to post my list online now instead of waiting. Thanks again to everyone who makes this site possible. I really do have a long road to my recovery. I get a little down at times thinking about so much I have to do, but feel up-beat again when I start thinking of the things that I have accomplished in the last 2 weeks.

1. Eat healthy breakfast, map out a healthy diet schedule for my lifestyle

(Breakfast wasn't to healthy this morning, it was convenient)

2. Make appointment with doctor to get a physical under new health care plan

3. Go to job for acceptance and tax paperwork

4. Contact ssa about my social again

5. Check status of my 2011 tax return

6. Make personal calls/emails

Knitfisher's birthday checkin Mon 3rd Dec

Today is my birthday. I slept really badly, I have sore gums and I am dreading going to my client today. I am going to try really hard to face the thing that I find so aversive at that job. As a birthday present to myself.

I am loved and I mostly have my health and all the comforts I could need. Today I will try and remember the reasons to be grateful rather the reasons why I could be sad.

I hope everyone achieves what they'd like to today and can find the strength to be kind to themselves in the process. That's the hardest part.

 Love and hugs,

 KF x
