********** Editorial Comment *********
I actually got started on Grisha's project, after 2 full weeks of avoidance. That's the good news. (I really detest working on business projects alone in this little room.)

What seemed to turn the tide is making the decision (again) that despite what everyone wants me to do, I am going to be a "show-business entrepreneur," meaning a performer who also produces, directs and writes. That seemed to energize me.

However, I failed to get restarted on the project after errands and dinner, and I think I need to honor my schedule and my instincts, and quit trying to work for now, focus on a social outlet for now.

(note - a twentysomething from upstairs just came down to borrow a can opener - they are having a "dinner party " upstairs, and one of the dishes is apparently Campbell's pork and beans. Ah, it takes me back! Thank God for noise and kids, and the energy they bring!)

Looks like just you and me here,Lark. Good night!

jj evening CI

Did more cleaning than I planned today: vac'd upstairs and downstairs, washed all floors, did some dusting, made simple supper, did dishes, unloaded dishwasher. Didn't get around to the xmas tree, but thought I'd just focus on the cleaning. Now I'll watch some TV before bed - no more cleaning tonight as my back hurts from too much vacuuming and mopping!

pro's CI - 10:10pm

I'm unpacked and ready for bed - except that I didn't take my pills. I'm not sure I'm going to. They can upset my stomach when it's empty, and I'm feeling a little hungry and I don't have much to eat here - also it's late, and I don't want to eat right before bed.

Tomorrow I need to handle the mail I brought back from my PO box on this trip, and also I need to do laundry. The pile is getting very big, and soon I'll be out of undies.

pro's CI - 9:30pm

I'm back in New York. My only plan for this evening is to get unpacked and ready for bed early. I really want to start getting up earlier. I'll do it for a day or two, then fall back into bad habits. Yet I feel so much better when I'm up early in the morning.

Lark's CI at 4:05 PM

Late check in, but some urgent things came up quickly this morning. I was at the mercy of others, but had a productive day nevertheless. Not a good idea for me not to plan and bookend, but today went really well. I do want to do some housework before bedtime, though.

Thomas C.--mid-day check-in

I just played four games of Mini-Putt. Finally got down to 30. (Par is 48.)

Yes, I actually enjoy this game. But the present circumstances clearly make it procrastination. It's 1 p.m., and office hours have been done for over an hour. I have until 5:30 or so to get this article done. I am ready to, but boy, do I feel anxious. But it's time to post to the DA list I'm on, send a brief email to an advisor, and GO!

Thanks for being there. If it weren't for this list, I'd still be doing Mini-Putt.

jj check in 12:30 pm

This aft:
vacuum main floor
wash hardwood & entry
start setting up xmas tree

Spent too much time stewing about window cleaning issues this morning. When I get off to a bad start, I feel like packing it in for the rest of the day and just sitting in front of the TV. But I didn't today...yet!

On the upside, I'm glad I finally found some people who can understand why washing my face and getting dressed might be big accomplishments for one day. The rest of my family are ultra self-disciplined (ie. Monday is laundry day, Tuesday is grocery shopping day, Friday is house cleaning day and they stick to it come hell or high water), and I've felt very alone trying to understand what's going on with me. I have a very patient loving husband, but I think it's hard for him to wrap his mind around the difficulties I'm having.

jj - I totally understand!

>I'm glad I finally found some people who can understand why washing my face and getting dressed might be big accomplishments for one day.

This is an issue for me, too. Sometimes I have to use every ounce of willpower I have to get dressed and ready to go out in the morning. Even if I don't go out, I make myself do this. I get fully dressed, put in my contacts, make my bed, wash the dishes, etc. Sometimes I end up not going out, but I'm still glad I did it because I feel so crappy when I don't. There was a time when I was very depressed and didn't get dressed until late afternoon or not at all. I'm not feeling that cheery now, truth be known, but sticking to my wake-up routine is a big help.

Thomas C.--Tuesday check-in

Well, yesterday got out of hand.

There was really good news sometime in the afternoon: another department wants to see more of my work. That means I made the "long short list," which is anywhere from 10 to 20 people (out of a minimum of 100 applications). However, they want writing samples--at least two. I have one ready to mail today. The other one, however, is that article I keep talking about. You know, the one that's not finished?

So...

I stayed up until 4 a.m. revising it. Didn't get it done, and am now operating on three hours of sleep. However, I have a good plan for the revisions, and got started on them. Today, after office hours, I go to the library and finish the article. Then I send it to one of my advisors for a quick read. Then revise it a little and send the two articles (one published, one "in progress").

So, really, two items today: office hours and the article.

pro's check-in - 11:30am

I'm out of town and just got a chance to get online. I saw no one had started a day thread for today, so I started it. I'm packing up to leave now so I won't be online again for a while. I hope everyone has a great (and productive) day!

Thanks pro

Thanks for starting thread pro. I would have started it but friend has been using laptop all day. Hope your trip out of town is successful. Regards Rexroth

jj's CI - 9:40 am

I'm totally new at this, but I'll give it a try...

I'm starting off not on a good note - got up later than I wanted to, and examined windows that I paid to have cleaned yesterday, and I think they may be scratched because the guy used a scraper. What do I do about that? This is what I find frustrating - I put off calling people because I'm afraid they'll do a poor job. I finally overcome that and make the call, now the job was not good and now I regret making the call in the first place! So next time, I'll be even more afraid to make a service call and put it off even longer. Arghhh.

TO DO THIS A.M.
eat breakfast
make bed
wash face/brush teeth
wash dishes
vacuum main floor
