WingArtist's Check-in (9/19/2012)

Had a long talk with my parent last night about taking a challenge to do my drawings and running wihtout exposure to the computer. But I still use it occasionally to write this check-in down. I wish I could spread my thoughts properly and tell her about this site/solutions. Not sure if I can resent her concerns because of my overreactions, or trust her knowingly that she wanted me to do my best without force.

Here's my plan that I attempted to use for quite a long time:

  • Drawing 2 pictures for an hour each
  • Running outside, or use Wii Fit marathon feature.
  • Reading Procrastination Equation

Maybe I can try out the chatbox sooner. But let me try the tasks without the comptuers on. Wish me luck!

Mouse's check in 9/18/12

Feeling odd. It's a grey day outside which I actually like (it's been super sunny) but I feel like I'm readjusting.

Home-y stuff:

  • Install iOS 6 (in progress, kind of a reward for me honestly since I'm a tech junkie... and I'm getting a new phone Friday so I feel silly for updating)
  • Exercise
  • Sort through more clothes
  • Do more laundry
  • Pick out Z's clothes for tomorrow (Anybody else have an SO who simply can't dress himself? He asks me to do this every day. It's kind of sweet.)
  • Groceries (potato chickpea curry tonight, buy fresh flowers)
  • Dogpark with K

Work-y stuff:

  • Touch base with Dr. H re: website
  • Reply to P's email and prepare for tomorrow's meeting Still have prep to do for this but I took a good bite out of it.
  • NWC site updates
This feels like a lot to me, particularly because Wednesdays are supposed to be off-days for me... I have a hard time working more than two days in a row but I clearly have some expectations that need to be completed today.
Courage.

Happy Talk like a Pirate Day!

I got one of the problem sets done I was worried about. The other one is not done :( Idk what to do because I emailed my TA with questions and he never responded.

I am feeling really behind and overwhelmed. I am also feeling in that low after you get some stuff down and rest on your laurels. Need to regroup :(

Things (I am going to try my very best to keep this small)
-tutoring (me tutoring someone else)
-physics- there's 11 problems. Lets see if I can get 6 done
-1 optics problem
-some organization

Innertruth's 11 am check-in

I'm finally adjusting to my new mdications for depression and anxiety and don't feel tired all the time.

After much soul searching I've decided to go back to night school to learn how to teach English as a second language. I need to have a way of earning decent money while I build up my business or else try to get enought teaching hours to make a living.

If I get a job with the school board, I will be able to work 20 hours a week and make enough money to pay for the necessities of life and have a little over to enjoy myself. The board pays four times as much per hour as my crappy part-time job does. The course lasts until May and it probably won't be until this time next year that I'll start seeing results.

Work for today:

Tasks 1 to 4 - do before 4 pm
Tasks 5 to 12 - do between 4 and 5 pm

If cool enough, then run at 5, have dinner and start work again at 7 pm.

  1. Check both emails
  2. Invoice Anita
  3. Email marketing names (1 hour)
  4. Draft emails (2 hours)
  5. Email SS
  6. Email JL
  7. Call HW (will do on Thursday)
  8. Call ME and keep conversation to 15 minutes.
  9. Email RT
  10. Pay TD
  11. Email Ken (will do Thursday)
  12. Renew PWAC membership

Evening

  1. Wash dishes
  2. Wash one sweater set
  3. Clean kitchen and put away groceries
  4. Run
  5. Clean desk (keep to one hour) - probably not enough time
  6. Do reading for class tomorrow (also did reading for Saturday class!)
  7. Writeup for PIC (keep to 2 hours)

Keep a time log and get in bed at midnight

Yoh 19/09

Have been away from check-ins for a while. After my exams passed, I had less urgent tasks to procrastinate on.

Now I have been dealing with choosing my courses for the next year and cleaning my apartment before school starts again next week.

So now it is 17.00 here, I will do:

- clean and rearrange bookcloset
 DONE
- clean bedroom

- cook
DONE (and tasted good I might say:) )
- clean the 'random things closet' :) DONE
- iron clothes
- read school book DONE (small part)

If done before 22.00 tonight: victory party! :)

22.16: Bedroom and ironing have to be done tomorrow. I lost a bit of time after writing this post earlier, but not enough that I would be able to do the ironing. So it was just overestimating of my time. I'm happy, going to bed now.
Keep up the good work everyone!

kromer 10:40 CI

Yesterday was a disaster, and I have gotten off to a bad start today (had stayed up way too late last night so I slept in this morning and am late to work)

But, I can start over where I am, and work rather than feeling guilty. I will take this one step at a time. Right now, I need to go spend 30 min looking for lost papers. if I can't find them, I will post a note by the elevators.

Update 11:15: I couldn't find the lost papers, but I did post a note by the elevators. If they haven't re-surfaced by the end of the day, I will try to reconstruct my work.

Update 3 pm: OK, today is super slow. But, I located the lost papers, I did 1 slide for my talk, and I made some progress on a model figure. Now, I am working on a second slide.

Update 8:45 pm: Wow, still like molasses :P But, I finished the 2nd slide, and also the a 3rd slide. Yay! I think it's cool that I can make slow progress even when I'm feeling totally lost. Now, I will work on model figure for 15 min.

Spoon Check

Did 2hrs meditation practice, now healthy b'fast, in 45m will do full 2 hrs pomodoro! for work preparation, go to meeting, then well earned GFP, then instrument playing and making, finish w/ eve routine.

3rd day in a row of practicing pomodoro and I am loving it.

Real substantial trust will come from real substantial doings.

Kodos--6:40

Thanks, Mole.

Today is a regular work day, so my goal is to simply follow my regular schedules. I'll report back at the end of the day.

Happy efficiency, everyone!

Kodos--8:30 check-in

A little (15 min.?) wasted time, but so far, so good...

Kodos 5:15

Kind of a stressful day, so I'm straying off schedule for half an hour to chill out. Otherwise, I've been following it, which is huge for me.

To try to defeat the belief that the chronic tiredness from lack of sleep that I feel that is exacerbating my compulsive task avoidance and lethargy is what I need to avoid unpleasant emotions and feelings of loneliness that I am afraid might come up and  plague me. And have a week's good sleep to aid my recovery from chronic undersleeping.
And to try to gently work through any unpleasant withdrawal symptoms from any increased productivity today Weds as I move to recovery from my debilitating addiction to procrastination & compulsive task avoidance.

Finding a way CI

thank you for the starter, Mole.

Did not check in yesterday as I worked a full day at a client's office, hadn't done that for a long while due to a few factors. It went well and I made some good progress! Only possible because my husband was home to help out with my mother, for which I was very grateful. Today she is much recovered and driving herself home, a big relief for me but also leaving me feeling quite drained and with many unanswered questions about the caring role, such as what is reasonable, what is possible.

Today I will: do some more paid work, go to appts x 2, make another appt, buy tickets, practice t, do dishes, make dinnerI did have a lot of time out today and did very little billable work; maybe I really needed a rest today because I don't feel too bad about it, not certain if this is the right attitude. Resolve to work properly tomorrow before this becomes a habit.

Salamander's check in - Weds 19 Sep '12

Thank you, O Mole, for starting the thread. Please would nobody comment
here so I can edit this version all day. I do welcome though any
positive vibes, prayers, good thoughts and healing energy you might care
to lob my way as you go about your own days. Thank you!

Starting at 0900, go to GYM - No excuses! Motivation follows action! Come back via Asda for petrol; then chicken bits x 5 and lentils.

Have decided to abandon gym plans for this week and begin next week because my hours are different and I am less likely to fail. Only reason I failed this week is because the weather has turned and I can't stop sleeping. I believe I am not procrastinating. Next week leave painkillers by bedside and move one alarm clock to other side of room so I have to get out of bed when it goes off.

Oh dear, the day has gone to pot! Try again tomorrow, Salamander!

Starting at 1200:

  • Log on
  • Dust downstairs
  • Hoover downstairs
  • Facebook/Emails
  • Clean kitchen surfaces
  • Sweep kitchen floor
  • Admin - house insurance
  • Cook nutritious dinner (freeze balance)

Later/Evening:

  • Put away things in bedroom
  • Skincare
  • Chase plumber re shower

EleanorBE's Wednesday list

Thanks for starting Mole. I'm v glad you're in that time zone so you're encouraging me to make my list the evening before!

I had Go Swimming first but I've had to cancel that as I had a rather bad night's sleep. Will have a half hour's brisk walk at lunch time so at least I'm not procrastinating exercise altogether.

Write to F re SiP launch

Take back cups!

CHECK EMAIL ONLY TWICE!! See if you can manage this even if you're interrupted! If this is really impossible, compromise and try three times on Thurs. But the email thing HAS to be restricted.

Ok, so I checked three times. Just twice seems to be impossible. But I don't seem to be using it to put off other things at the moment so I'll allow myself 3 work email checks per day and see how that goes.

This is a less tough day so REALLY make two hours for writing. If necessary, postpone some of the training stuff to Thurs...

hm...didn't manage any writing.

Less tough day did I say? Hahaha. I did a few things before leaving for work this morning, then worked pretty solidly from 9.30 - 6.30, eating lunch on the run. So I got a lot done but was too tired for the  two hours of writing I somehow imagined I would do when I got home. Days in which I get lots done are very satisfying - but boy is working properly more tiring than looking out of the window and finding people to bug with trivial matters/coffee invites... So - all I did this evening was cook, eat, then have a diary session with partner - mind you, that did lead to me emailing the people we tentatively put in our diaries to see - when usually I'd put that off til it was too late for said friends do anything with us. Which is SO daft because I'm the social one who actually likes seeing people. Poor partner is organized, absolutely not a procrastinator but less social - and very sweetly gets me to stop procrastinating about seeing friends who he'd be perfectly happy not to see!

Anyway, I think I've got some writing time in the morning.
