Dieing_to_live's check in 9.16.12

Today will be one of those "just slog through it" days for me. I did not sleep well, and I'm sore, exhausted, and in a snippy mood - not the best way to start the day.

Thanks to Pro for this website, Mole for starting this thread, and my HP for leading me here.

CK has me on edge. I haven't even had my coffee, and her constant yakking and pushing her ideas on me of what I "should" create through my work makes me just want to crawl back into bed. Demand resistance. I want to tell her to go make it herself, and that I don't need her so-called "ideas" to be creative. Need to figure out where this stressor stems from in tracing.

I don't want to do anything today. I am sore. I want to take a day off without feeling guilty. I feel like the more I do, the more I have to do.  This project I'm working on is getting larger, rather than shrinking. It has now turned into 2 projects that have to be done in order to get organized.

I am feeling frustrated. The there is Dearest, who can be Chatty Kathy, Dear Abby, and the One Who Gives Unasked for Advice. I need my ear buds.

I have almost finished getting my work area organized. It is still not
to my liking. However, I realize this is the perfectionist side of me,
and perhaps the fear of success that is making me stall.

I had a more productive day than what I imagined it would be today.

√ Empty both 3-drawer containers to put on work table for supplies

√ Pitch yarn

√ Pitch box of lamé paint

√Pitch faux-leather gift bags

√pitch box of plastic, gaudy buttons

√clean off sewing table

√Move Aida cloth and clothing patterns to fabric box

 √Box up stamping items

√Move die machine into bookcase

√Separate and box up tools for metal jewelry & polymer clay

√Make mindmap for reorganizing closet

The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to
reach your full potential... these are the keys that will unlock the
door to personal excellence.

Be aware of end of day procrastination before when I should go turn in for the night, to push through my demand resistance at going to sleep, and be in bed by midnight for a deserved night's rest. Affirm to myself that I am worthy of good self care and repose.
To try to defeat the belief that the chronic tiredness from lack of sleep that I feel that is exacerbating my compulsive task avoidance and lethargy is what I need to avoid unpleasant emotions and feelings of loneliness that I am afraid might come up and  plague me.
And to try to gently work through any unpleasant withdrawal symptoms from any increased productivity today Friday as I move to recovery from my debilitating addiction to procrastination & compulsive task avoidance .

EleanorBE back from holiday - sunday list.

Hi everyone,

Back from a lovely week's holiday, where I didn't have to think about procrastinating as my partner likes doing all the things I don't like doing (finding out where things are in guide books, map reading) - and I like all the things he doesn't like (trying to speak Italian, cooking with unfamiliar equipment!).

But now I'm back. And I'm also back off a longer period away from my teaching and administrative roles, which I had to do some research. As I've said here before I think, teaching's not too much of a problem when it comes to procrastinating. You have to turn up, I'm interested in the material, you get Instant Weekly Reward if the classes go well. But the thought of now reading a week's work email and thinking about dealing with all the administrative and organizational jobs and questions that will arise from them. Ugggghhhh! The new semester will be a real test of this new list system.

On the domestic front - I would impress myself if I could unpack today. I've been known to have an unpacked case sitting outside our bathroom for over a month before now...

Here's today's list.

Open work email.

Delete anything that's obviously rubbish to make list look lest daunting.

Read emails, answer immediately to anything that's quick

Make a to do list from other emails

Put things in diary that need putting in - nearly done! And I've read and responded to about half a million emails!

Get up A's emails

Write to A

See what time I have to get to c. tomorrow

Book train for C.

Write detailed admin, w. and writing programme for week, in diary.

Read SM agenda

Write notes to send to SM meeting if/where appropriate

Unpack

Put a wash on

Go to library to print off p.

Practice p.

Once I'd done the above, realized I needed to do a power point...

Go to market

pack for tomorrow night

Oh dear, really feel I need that Higher Power now!

Mole's Check- in

8 cafe

Market

Ringing

shopping

Lunch

CC

Walk

Have to das will be more specific later. Much more likely to do things if they are broken down into actual tasks.

Smile

Ok. It's now 3 pm and I haven't defined those tasks so I have spent two hours doing crosswords in the Sunday papers. I did cafe, market, ringing, healthy lunch. Today has to be CC and master plan day or this will keep happening. That is NOT a task Mole. Try again:

3.30 Make pot of tea sit at table with blank sheets of paper and in tray, identify tasks and next steps, then move round house with clip-board and do same. Did I really think I would do all that in an hour? What I DID do was go through my I tray and all the teetering and tottered piles on my desk, and throw a whole lot of stuff away, and file another lot and make notes of the outstanding things I found that need to be dealt with. So minor gloat is happening now, and reward of quick sunset walk round the block. It is now 6.30.

4.30 assign timetable slots for different kinds of tasks. Do this after supper & also CC which I forgot to transfer from above.

5.30 gloat

Walk round block lovely - walked part of way with A and chatted to A at PO.

Plan meals for this week this can wait til tomorrow. Yes, really.

Eat well.

Relax

Go to bed by 11
