Friday 7th September, 2012

 Success nourished them;

          they seemed to be able,

                     and so they were able.

Virgil Aenead

Good morning talented Procrastinators.

Lavida Summary CI Fri. 9/7

"If you feel you're about to drown, remember Tool 1 and Break .. It .. Down"

Yes I feel totally overwhelmed from packing to move because of my eviction (the judge denied my request for an extension, so in 1 week I will be getting the notice and will only have a few more days after that -- don't know which day!!!)

I will post my task list in a separate post so other PA'ers can reply to this one instead. Any words of wisdom or support I would welcome right now -- I feel very alone and scared -- I have one person who is helping me in my life coordinate everything but it's still scary, but I am grateful I have that person to help me.

I have to pack, get more boxes, get storage, call movers, get friends to help move probalby instead of movers since I have no money, get a room at an extended-stay hotel so I can pay weekly, ETC ETC ETC

SCARED AND OVERWHELMED. But I know it's time for me to leave this apartment -- here for 6 years, far too long! Too many bad memories, isolation, and I know once I get through this hell I will have a fresh start.

Lavida

All the best

I keep you in my prayers - I hope all goes well for you.

For lavida

Reading your post made me remember when I had to sell my house and move. It was a hard time, although like you I did have help from one true friend which made a big difference. If there is anything I can do, a private chat perhaps, or anything else a random procrastinator friend can do, please let me know. I am praying for you and sending you all the constructive, helpful vibes across the ether than I can.

All is not lost. This may be hard at times, but I did discover that I was going to survive the experience, despite its unpleasant moments. And now I am happier than I have ever been in my life. So some good may yet come out of this for you, and I sincerely hope that it does. (((lavida))) x

"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." (Anais Nin)

Lavida, I'll pray to St.

Lavida, I'll pray to St. Joseph for you. You might know this already, but he's the patron saint of all housing issues. Good luck.

Really?

Gosh, I never knew that! St Joseph's a busy man! Smile

Somu's Friday (and short review of Tue to Thu)

Several lessons:

1) When other people or events are in the driving seat, such as Tue and Wed this week,  it's much easier (for me) to be productive. Had two VG days :-)

2) When I'm in charge (yesterday), it's easy for productivity to be terrible. I was a bit tired, but that's a pathetic excuse :-(

3) Check-in here is a good process. Use it as reminder of principles (micro-bursts, which I prefer to call "kick-starts"; silver bullet, which I prefer to call "talisman"; and pomodoro technique (working in 25-minute bursts), for which I haven't yet developed my own pet name

4) Personally, I prefer rules to be expressed in positives. Instead of "avoid", I'd rather use an active verb like "pursue" or "work" etc. So the bingeing rule for me is "Work in 25-minute, intense bursts, then switch to something else important". And perfectionism... "Pursue good-enough to excellent depending on circumstances. Most times, good-enough is enough; beyond excellent is unattainable and a waste of time".

OK, this 25-min slot has expired, so bye for now and have a good day.

Findingaway CI

Thank you Mole for another great thread starter!

Must do: clothes washing, dishes, check dates for input to RL and RC, bike ride, lunch date, shopping, ring J, sign up for M, ring DS, H practice, cook dinner.

If possible: f receipts, ring C, email J, mending, start input, read EDO doc.

I'm sure that's more that enough, it's 11.15 am local time already.

Have a good day everyone!

Welcome Hamlet!

You are doing fine with the check-in :)

Good to have you here!

Oh - PS - you don't need to put the date in the subject header of your post. Most people put some version of their username eg Findingaway Check In, but it's all your choice.

got it.  Thanks.

3. Finish gardening blog

not sure how to strike out items 1 & 2 which i managed to finish in a "burst" just now (any tehcnial advice is welcome for this Luddite).  Moving on to item 3; expect it will take the rest of the day; but aim to finish before clock strikes midnight.

Click 'edit' ...

... then

  • highlight what you want to cross off by clicking and dragging across it
  • click the ABC  icon above - the 4th one along
  • you'll need to unclick the ABC again before writing anything else, or it will all be crossed out!
Hope that helps.

Salamander's check in - Fri 7 Sep '12

Thank you, O Mole, for starting the thread with such a true quotation. If you act "as if" something, then quite frequently you find you *are* that thing. Or so I have found... Cool That is my understanding of that quotation.

Gratitude also to my Higher Power, who/whatever S/he/it is. I'm learning.

Yesterday when I set tasks in groups of three, it was extremely successful for me. I will try that again for a while to see if that was just luck or is in fact a useful tool for me.

Start time:1500

  • Colour hair
  • Hoover downstairs
  • Phone L re Excel sort query

1550
: Nothing here that can't wait. I think I have a migraine coming. :-( Will rest for a bit in case. Tomorrow is supposed to be a very busy (and enjoyable) day.

1814: I have slept on the sofa almost all day (as well as last night in bed). I am still aware a migraine is lurking. None of the jobs below are suitable for when I feel like this. I will take another look at the paperwork (now tidied) at the desk if I feel I can manage that without making things worse.

  • Go to Leisure Centre
  • Phone DD re sum owing
  • Clean bathrooms
  • Sweep kitchen floor
  • Scrub kitchen floor
  • Clean microwave
  • Phone vet re cat meds for T
  • Wash bedding

1837: Have decided not to get stressed about migraine?/no migraine? and just to log out of here for today, having a quiet night. :-)

Wishing the rest of you a good and constructive rest of the day.
