Happy Thanksgiving!!

Happy Thanksgiving even if you aren't in the US. If you are, enjoy today's feast!

Yesterday is the second biggest travel day in the US - the biggest is this coming Sunday, when everybody goes back home. Safe travels, everyone!!

Lark - there was no thread starter for the day, so I moved your check-in message to a comment, and I'm editing this message to be a thread starter (a greeting to everyone versus a check-in). -pro

pro's last check-in - 2:20am (FRIDAY!)

Geez - it's really late. Not my fault this time, though. I didn't dawdle - I just got back late and had a lot I had to do.

  • Wash rest of dishes from yesterday's pie making, including the splattered oven trays.
  • Make and eat breakfast. (I'm using the filling from yesterday's ruined pie as jam - just cooked it down a little more. It was the crust that was a disaster.)
  • Rebuilt screwed up computer.
    • Check email one last time and clear spam folder.
    • Do a complete virus scan of hard disk (takes hours).
    • Do a Ghost backup of hard drive.
  • Clean convection/microwave oven. (I scrubbed part of it, but noticed I was scratching the finish so stopped. I'll buy some oven cleaner and try that. The manual says to "wipe with a soft cloth, and perhaps mild detergent - no scrubbing". Are they kidding? This is not a non-stick surface. You can't clean baked-on food that way. It doesn't explicitly say no oven cleaner, so hopefully that will work.)
  • Clean toaster oven.
  • Make bed (convert futon back into couch).
  • Make cranberry sauce.
  • Shower and dress (wear apron when cooking!!).
  • Put in contacts.
  • Bring pie to Mother's apartment.
  • Bring cranberry sauce to Mother's apartment. (I can't carry everything at once.)
  • Make butternut squash dish.
  • Wash breakfast dishes.
  • Bring butternut squash and self to Mother's apartment for Thanksgiving dinner.
  • Put away leftovers.
  • Wash dishes.
  • Take pills (partial).
  • Bedtime routine.

pro's CI - 1:45am (FRIDAY!)

I just noticed that my wall clock has the wrong time. It needs a new battery. One more thing...

The apple pie I made turned out really well, but there's a lot left over and my mother wouldn't take any because she doesn't want to get fat (let me get fat). I hate throwing it out because it was so much effort and work. I can eat some, but not all that. Maybe tomorrow I'll ask my next door neighbor if she wants some.

I've washed a zillion dishes the last few days. I'm feeling down. It's late - I need to get ready for bed.

    • Reformat hard drive, and reinstall Windows.
    • Apply the zillions of Windows updates.
    • Reinstall all my applications.
    • Restore my data from the Ghost backup.
    • Re-backup my restored hard drive (clean version).
  • Vacuum.
  • Do exercises (Pilates, stretches) - can't skip, back needs it.

pro's CI - 11:50pm

I have a lot of stuff to wash up and put away, and then I need to get to bed. I'm feeling a tendency to procrastinate on it, so I'm checking in. I don't want to stay up really late tonight.

I've had it with my main computer's constant crashing and unbearable slowness. I'm going to wipe the drive today. This is a very time consuming process, which is why I've been avoiding it. But I just can't stand it anymore. So today I'll be using my Mac or Tablet PC. This is why I always have more than one computer. I live online - work and play. It's horrible to have no access.

I won't get everything on this to-do list done today, but these are the things I'd like to do.

  • Wash rest of dishes from yesterday's pie making, including the splattered oven trays.
  • Make and eat breakfast. (I'm using the filling from yesterday's ruined pie as jam - just cooked it down a little more. It was the crust that was a disaster.)

    • Restore my data from the Ghost backup.
    • Re-backup my restored hard drive (clean version).
  • Wash breakfast dishes.
  • Vacuum.
  • Clean toaster oven.
  • Clean convection/microwave oven (maybe - it's a mess, looks very hard).
  • Make bed (convert futon back into couch).
  • Do exercises (Pilates, stretches) - can't skip, back needs it.
  • Shower and dress (wear apron when cooking!!).
  • Put in contacts.
  • Bring pie to Mother's apartment.
  • Make cranberry sauce.

  • Make butternut squash dish.
  • Bring butternut squash and self to Mother's apartment for Thanksgiving dinner.

pro's first check-in - 10:10am

I woke up at 8:45am with a migraine, took some meds, and went back to sleep for an hour. I'm feeling better now, but want coffee. Since it's a holiday and I'm allowed to dawdle, I'll have my coffee before I get dressed.

It's raining out. I wonder if the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade has been cancelled. Last night they said it might be because of strong winds - or rather, the floats might be cancelled, not the entire parade. I only went to the parade once. It was fun, but very crowded - also very cold that day (pre-global-warming).

I'm glad I washed the dishes last night so I wasn't waking up to a disaster this morning. I have more cooking to do today - nothing as hard as an apple pie, thankfully.

Rexroth 15.05 GMT

Happy Thanksgiving 9:40am (lark)

Good morning and happy Thanksgiving. For our members outside the US, I'm sure you know it's our celebration stemming from a bountiful harvest, and having friends and family all together to help and share gratitude. It's also the day when more Americans say the phrases "Why am I here?", "When are we leaving?", "What an a@@&*#%.", and "You didn't tell me he/she was coming." more than any other. You may be thankful you don't have Thanksgiving!
To Do:
1. Morning ritual
2. Light housework
3. Survey workshop, and put things away for a few minutes.
4. Do accounting for work for an hour minimum (either a bit at a time or all at once.)
5. Have Thanksgiving dinner with friends.
6. Clean our my car and do the windows.
7. Go to my 12 step homegroup meeting.
