Crazybug CI after long absence

finding myself walking on a physically healthy path for the first time in months (what a blessed relief!), but, mentally, the path is rocky.

Lots of resistance to doing work. Very distracted and uninterested right now. Not sure what the root of it is, but know I need to keep pushing forward until I figure it out.  Though there is not much time left in this day, there is enough to get a number of tasks finished.  I'll just try for 15 minutes to start with and then check back in.

Thanks all for still being here...

Back Again

It's been three years since I joined ... and I am still in my grave of procrastination. I quit drinking, and learned about addiction ... BUT MY CORE ADDICTION IS PROCRASTINATION.

So for today I need to clear my desk and daily tasks and then check in fresh tomorrow.

I'm changing my profile name to KnowPeace from the Promises of AA.

Findingaway check in

10.15 am Wednesday

Thanks for the starter, lennon.

I am having a bit of a 'day off' syndrome. I have been busy the last 2 days - although I did not check in yesterday I completed a reasonably productive day at my client's office. And I know the next 2 days will be busy as I have planned field work, including employing an assistant. So I told myself today would be an 'easier' day plus I am a bit tired and resistant.

Don't want to fall into the trap of procrastinating now and then staying up late doing my work or not getting everything done. I want the kind of easy day where I finish early and can relax. So time to face the list, although I will do some exercise first, even though it's a bit late.

Thank you all for being here.

Mollie Check-in 2:30pm

I am feeling resistance to all the things I still need to do today, so I thought it might help to list the things I *have* done:

*went to hearing & did everything related to that
*got mail at the P.O.
*called Dr. D
*called SW
*called LL re: JAS & JB
*drafted a letter & faxed to ES
*drafted a letter to MFR
*scanned a document & faxed to MFR
*called MFR
*called 6 places re: document scanning services
*emailed JC re: best practices for going paperless
*called LS
*paid BCBS & parking tik
*ate healthy breakfast & lunch (and some junk, too)
*voted

Well, that's a bunch of stuff. :-) I'm just frustrated because there's such a bigger bunch of stuff that still needs doing.

Journey 2 pm

I just posted this on yesterday's thread.  Oh, well, here it is again!

Bit of a late checkin eh?   I am taking the day off work, taking my BFF Sheppie the Border Collie to have his bad tooth taken care of.   I'm catching up on a bit of housework and laundry and I'm going to make at least one of the phone calls I've been putting off.   I need to call the life insurance co., my work benefits dept. about an IRA question, and I need to make a mammogram appt.   I'll get at least one of those phone calls made, and also take care of a couple of other things by mail or email - I'm really behind on my financial/personal paperwork kind of stuff.   But thankfully, not as behind as I used to be when I joined this site.   I still don't like doing it, but I'm managing to stay on top if it . .. mostly!

Shep came thru surgery well but I can't pick him up until 4.

Sending Shep well wishes and speedy recovery. Vic and Velvet!!

Thank you Vic and Velvet!

All acts performed in the world begin in the imagination.
  —Barbara Grizzuti Harrison

We use our imaginations to plan how we're going to build a model car or plane, rearrange the furniture in our rooms, even dress for a special party. The imagination is like a big piece of drawing paper on which we sketch the way we want something to look.

When we don't know just how to begin a task, the imagination gets us started. It's like having the directions for playing a new game. Dreams about the future, where we want to go, the jobs we want to have, are made more real when we "draw" them in our minds. The imagination gives us courage, too.

Do I have the courage today to imagine a better me?

SECOND READING FOR DAY

As in the physical world, so in the spiritual world, pain does not "last forever."
  —Katherine Mansfield

Each of us struggles with pain and its repercussions; some of us more than others. At times pain seems unending. Sometimes we hang onto the pain in our lives, maybe because we fear even more what's on the other side. The unknown so easily controls us. Right at this moment, each of us can look back on other painful times and feel thankful for what they taught us. The puzzle pieces take on a deeper meaning when we enjoy the gift of perspective. The pain at this moment fits, too, in the bigger picture of our lives. And it will pass. It is passing.

The wisdom of the past tells us that pain enriches us, prepares us to better serve others. We come to know who we are and the specialness of our gifts through the despair that at times encumbers us. An old, wise saying, is, "We are never given more than we can handle."

My pain today is bringing me closer to the woman I'm meant to be. With each breath I'll remember that.

riddled's first attempt at a check-in

hmm, let's see... already afternoon, but still so much to do...

now - 15:30: wash dishes (part of)

15:30 -16:30: return stuff to libraries (2 different locations)

16:30 - 18:30: give math coaching, drive back home

18:30 - 19:00: put clothes in washing machine, then finish dishes

19:00 - 20:00: cook something HEALTHY, eat it, wash dishes again

20:00 - 21:00: work on JJPP for an hour

21:00 - 22:00: hang up laundry + put away some of the clean laundry creating a mess here

22:00 - 23:30 if it has worked so far, do MC bookkeeping for October, and if there's still time, get some clothes mended

23:30 - 00:00 brush teeth etc., go to bed.

Sounds like it's never going to work. I'll see.

EDIT: ... and of course it didn't work. I managed to do the crossed-out things yesterday (tuesday) and finished the green stuff this morning, the rest still remains undone. I couldn't use the washing machine yesterday for reasons that are not my fault, but that wasn't the bad part. The bad part was that a) everything I touch seems to take three times longer than for every normal person, and b) after having finished eating (that was at about 21:00) I crashed on the bed and fell asleep. Lights on, fully dressed, teeth unbrushed etc. Woke up again at 02:30 (and hadn't slept very well, of course), switched off light etc., got up at 06:00. And the bad thing is that that happens regularly and threatens to turn into my daily routine.

I didn't get sidetracked yesterday evening (or this morning), didn't get stuck in the internet or a book or any other stuff - but everything just takes so looooong!

Vic 11/8/11

Show up, suit up, look up (done).

Mind tricks. Always searching for ways to skip over the wall of ??? ie pt A to pt B..., yesterday I noticed that many of the things "I want done" are things "I don't want to do", so I would say t myself, I have to "done it" instead of "I have to do it", it did help to take the edge off.

Another "mind trick" that helped was something I really did not want to do and too stressful to even think in terms of "done". I thought of pro's "silver bullet" trick. The trick caught my eye when I thought I needed a silver bullet to the head. But that was not the trick. I put on a comedy , Hall Pass, and it took the edge off as I printed out stuff I needed, with the printer next to me at the couch.

Sometimes I relating something I know to the "unseen". I think of me at one end and an electrical substation in the middle and the completed task at the other end.

ME ___________________________________COMPLETEDTASK

The substationhas step "up" and step"down" transformers. Sometimes I need more power  and other times I need less power and more humility. I need to make sure I stay "grounded" and not go on "overload", etc. etc. This mental trick helpsmee get past my "feelings of anxiety".

I have others, it would be fun if we could write our mind games in one spot .
