Journey 6:30

Happy Wednesday!   Working from home after a day off yesterday and it's hard  to get back into the groove . . .I feel like I should have another day off!

Yesterday was a pretty good day, dog came thru surgery fine and I got caught up on a few chores around the house after working a lot of weekends lately.   I made one of the three phone calls that I've been putting off.  I also did a lot of sitting around watching tv.   I watched two whole movies!   Anyway, I'm rested up and the dog is fine and it's time to get busy.

I will make my todo list, then exercise at home with a video.  I'll resist feeling that I need to 'catch up' by working extra hours today since I was off yesterday - I deserved my day off, and I know what happens when I start out feeling behind.   I will focus on doing a reasonable amount of work today.   Here goes!

Have a productive and enjoyable day everyone.

Update 4pm: am busily avoiding getting back to the horrid documentation project, which was officially late as of Nov. 1.   I wasn't worried about it being late because I really didn't have time to work on it because of the Big Project, but I don't have that excuse any more  - I just hate doing it.   Bookending one hour of work on it.

Faltering

Have been having a tough time getting on track since the early part of October, when I spent 3 days in the hospital for i.v. antibiotics. Have been unable to get caught up, and persist a couple of weeks behind. As I feel more stressed, my anxiety about finishing work items, and my desire to procrastinate, only increase. Have not been checking in, so I am doing so now, in hopes of breaking this downer cycle.

What works for me, when I am able to stick to it, is to rotate through my unfinished cases, no more than 30 minutes at a time. It's surprisingly hard for me, because I have to battle my intuitive impulse to stay with something I am working on, even if it's taking a very long time and keeping me from any other progress. The anxiety piece is huge, too, often leading me to put off *starting* the 30 minutes as long as possible, then often giving up and moving on to something that *seems* less daunting.

Well, I am tired, feeling down, and ready to try again at my Sisyphean labor.

Goal 1: 10:15 AM - 1:35 PM: 30 minute blocks, with a break of 10 minutes at the end of each block. I realize the ratio of work to rest is low, but my actual productivity is lower still, and *maybe* frequent breaks will  enable me to blow off anxiety a little better

Goal 2: 1:35 - 2:35 PM: Lunch and decompress

Goal 3: 2:35 - 6:35 PM: 30 minute blocks, with breaks

Goal 4: 6:35 - 7:35 PM: Dinner

Goal 5: 7:35 - 8:35 PM: Personal development

Goal 6: 8:35 PM: Leave work

Not a highly ambitious day, but certainly far more disciplined - if I can walk the walk - than I have been lately. Back to report.

hey there 4change!

I was wondering where you'd been, hope you are feeling better!
