"I fairly sizzle with zeal and enthusiasm
and I spring forth with a mighty faith
to do the things that ought to be done by me."

Avoidance

Well, managed to meet a few of my goals yesterday, but didn't work on the really old case at all, and (no surprise) struggled to make myself go to bed at 1:30 AM. Well, today has been a hard start again, but I have a reasonable amount of work to attend to, then half-day tomorrow and back on the road until Monday. So I am actually feeling a little complacent. However, I have to force myself to progress, because I don't want to be facing panic later or tomorrow morning.

Goal 1: Two 30-minute work blocks (current work) with no internet interruptions

Goal 2: Check internet quickly for anything from meeting co-contributors (have already been compulsively scanning email all morning for that same purpose)

Goal 3: Lunch for 30 minutes

Goal 4: Two 30-minute work blocks (current work), check email at end of second block

Goal 5: Two 30-minute work blocks (current work), check email at end of second block

Goal 6: Two 30-minute work blocks (overdue case), check email at end of second block

Goal 7: Dinner for 30 minutes

Goal 8: Two 30-minute work blocks (current work if not finished, otherwise overdue case), check email at end of second case

Goal 9: Leave by 8:30 PM

Goal 10: Laundry for trip, pack bag

Goal 11: Meeting prep

Goal 12: Bed by 11:30 PM (seriously)

Journey 10:00

Happy Tuesday!   I am working from home today, and feeling a bit more rested although still not back to normal, or what passes for normal around here.   Yesterday was quite a struggle, I think I was sleep-walking through most of it.

Making todo list now.   Some of the pressure is off, which is good, but not necessarily a good thing for my productivity.   I will plan a reasonable amount of work for today, and when it is done I will relax.

Today I have some scheduled meetings:
*Lab mtg
*Cell cycle club

*Dinner w/ friend, and/or square dancing

And I have some work:
*Finish and email rough draft (working on this now)
*Finish hyb & image (will start this soon)
*make more ROL

Hypatia has lost the plot!

After  avery busy couple of week,  and some unavoidable time off work I have realised that my procrastination has got so bad I am having trouble even getting started, both at home and at work. I haven't logged on here because I've been rushing to get the highly urgent stuff done.  If I wrote down everything I should be doing I'd just get completely paralysed.

I have a meeting in half-an-hour.  The rest of the day will be

  • check for urgent e-mails
  • return phone calls
  • yesterdays reports
  • today's reports
  • find P's records
  • write MH reference
