Another rainy day. Perfect for staying indoors and "do things" - !

Shpw up and suit up (done)

When I work my programs, a miracle is only a natural happening.

The magic word is ACTION

Decent day yesterday

Managed to make a little progress in the evening, so that the day turned out reasonably well. Today I am again having a hard time getting started. So, I am going to try to leave at 7 PM. I hope this will help me focus a little better. Also , have to time track and avoid email and the internet. I have already been checking and rechecking news and sports sites, along with my work and non-work email accounts. There's really no point; nothing new is happening in the interim. What I have to work on today isn't even particularly painful, just not things I am in the mood for. But knowing I have to do them makes me uncomfortable to do something else productive. Instead, I just sit here, trying in vain to find something that will catch my attention but not make me feel guilty about doing or reading it. Hmmm...like that's going to happen. Awreet. Time to focus and get out of here by 7 PM.

Goal 1: Work 30 minutes per case for 1.5 hours (noon to 1:30 PM)

Actual: 30 minutes x 1 case, then got called to help with a somewhat urgent client care issue, spent 1 hour on that

Goal 2: Lunch 30 minutes (1:30-2 PM)

Actual: On track

Goal 3: Work 30 minutes per case for 2.5 hours (2-4:30 PM)

Actual: 2:24 PM: Oops! Spent the first 30 minutes on email. It just flew by imperceptibly as I thought I "quickly" answered a couple of emails. It's like a time warp for me, since I have no real sense of time to begin with. Back to it.

5:38 PM: Did pretty well, but spent about 2.5 hours on one long case, struggling against nodding off the whole time.

Goal 4: Take a 30 minute break, check email, maybe clean desk or work on some paperwork; no random internet surfing! (4:30 -5 PM)

Actual: 5-5:30 PM.

Goal 5: Work 30 minutes per case for 1.5 hours on old, overdue cases (5-6:30 PM)

Actual: +/- worked, but still hacking away at new cases which proved time-consuming

Goal 6: Spend 30 minutes tying up loose ends (6:30-7 PM)

Actual: Quick dinner in the cafeteria

Goal 7: Leave at 7 PM

Goal 8: Have dinner, spend some time working on personal development or entertainment *other than* surfing aimlessly.

Goal 9: In bed by 10:30 PM

Actual: Goals 7-9 weren't met. Continued to work until about 10:15 PM on new cases (or slightly overdue ones), didn't get to bed until midnight. Urk.

Journey 11:30 &

Late getting into the office today because I had a dr. appt - yearly checkup.  They are sending me for more unpleasant medical tests but all pretty routine.   I am feeling good because I got so much work done last week and I want to keep that momentum going although I don't have the sense of urgency I had last week.   The really good news is that I got most of that work done while working from home, which is a really positive development!

I had a minor crisis on my doorstep when I got in and that's been taken care of.   Now, off to make todo list for the rest of the day.  I'll check back if I get stuck otherwise I'll just motivate on over the hill.

Update 5 pm pretty good day.  I'm going to take half an hour to review my goals and projects then head home.   I've worked hard today and I'm tired, but it's a good tired.

Lots to do today! However, yesterday was a bad day, I think in part b/c my list was so overwhelmingly long, so I'm going to try and keep today's list manageable:
*check on expts

*collect samples
*Update records (started)
*Draft email (this has been a sticking point, so I'll try breaking this up, drafting it today and sending it tomorrow)
*Finish embedding
*Finish lit.
*Email D w/ condolences  (will do this soon)
*Email about thesis comm (will do this soon)
*Orders (will do this soon)
*Brainstorm pie chart

OK, starting with lit, then I'll check on expts and update records and finish embedding

9 pm Tuesday

Thankyou Rosebud for starting Tuesday. I wonder what the name of the pretty white flower is?

My Tuesday is nearly over, but I am fairly satisfied with it. I attended a job interview in the next town, which went as well or better than I could have expected. My son came with me for the driving practice and we did some more while we were up there. At home I made some calls (although only one person was in!) and sent some emails, arranged morning coffee with a colleague for tomorrow, did some laundry tasks, finished my novel and did the dishes after dinner.

Now I still need to get my papers and USB ready for a day at my client's office tomorrow; also clothes, do some piano and exercises, and maybe start looking at programs on this computer ready for transfer/installation on my new computer.

Hope you all have a happy and useful Tuesday! Smile

Rosebud, July 19, 2011

I think I will be too busy today to actually make a *list* on this site.

A long time ago I established a default to do list in a Word document. That list contains all I could think of with regard to "daily actions", plus quite a few other actions that I want to get to at various  points in time.

Once in a while I have also tried to use yet another list, about things NOT to do. Spending too much time online is among the things NOT to do. Plus various other time consuming items.

Enough for now. Morning routine continuing ....

Inspired

I like the idea of making a default list...I actually have a great website that I can go to for different routinges for the day wekk month...dont know if allowed to say it here...Right now, I don't feel well since I procrastinated getting out of bed and therefore didnt have a good breakfast...so I will make a loose to do list to follow...

find a healthy lunch to eat

clean kitchen

call about health benefits

clean dining room table

check in

get ready to go to work

go to work

ready or not here I go...
