Had an interesting, low key weekend. Got a couple of millstone cases done, and moved close to finishing a couple more. Exercised yesterday, maybe a bit too vigorously, since my legs are quite sore today. Managed to pick up a replacement contact lens that has been waiting for me for several weeks. Even did a little personal reading.
Today, though, I have been unable to get started. I have barely eked out a couple of case reviews, one of which is only preliminary, since I had to request additional materials and discovered that part of the case got held up and will arrive tomorrow. So, a minimally productive day so far.
Clearly my thinking process is to blame, because I keep reminding myself that I can stay late today. Part of it is also my sense of relief at ridding myself of a couple of the most ovedue and anxiety provoking cases over the weekend, even actively learning some things in the process of researching them. Completion always brings a letdown and difficulty getting back on track, though.
Well, no time like the present. Moving forward.
Goal 1: Work 5:30 to 8:30 PM, 30 minutes per case, with time tracking
Goal 2: Leave at 8:30 PM.
Goal 3: Work on some professional society items at home, 9 to 10:30 PM
I have lots of work, and I'm not really sure how to prioritize.
I guess the priority is MK's project, which is a bit of a hot mess now:
*check on expts
*collect samples
*mail samples
*Update records
*Draft email (this has been a sticking point, so I'll try breaking this up, drafting it today and sending it tomorrow) *Start embedding
*Try tiling images
I also have some small tasks to get done
*2 emails about audio stuff
*Email D w/ condolences
*Email FC girls, email L, email KA
*Finish budget
*email about thesis comm mtg
*1 hr work reviewing lit. (ended up doing almost 3 hrs)
*Assess gels (working on this now)
*Orders

I was half an hour late to work, which is no biggie considering I worked most of the weekend. HOWEVER, it's not for my employer that I want to get here earlier - they don't care as long as the work gets done and you don't miss meetings - but I want to start my day earlier for MYSELF. If I have a short work day, I'd rather leave early than get here late. Anyway, it's water under the bridge now so I'm moving on. I worked like a demon all weekend, I had a major install and although I was prepared, things didn't go quite as smoothly as I would have liked. I had to fix stuff while people waited for me to finish so they could do their stuff, and it was stressful. But I kept my head, figured out what to do and did it methodically without panicking, and I am quite happy with the end result.
Yesterday was a pretty good day too - I did a lot of sleeping and relaxing but I also got a moderate amount of housework done and cooked a nice healthy dinner. Hubby was all for cutting out red meat and alcohol when he was having his gout attack last week, but now he's rebelling at all the chicken, garden burgers and vegetables I'm giving him. Oh well, he will just have to suck it up lol
I started my todo list yesterday - I have two meetings today. Last weekend's install finished up one of my major projects, and I need to do some follow up and close out stuff today. The new project hasn't kicked into high gear yet but I need to do a lot of prep work - reading and planning and stuff. I'm in the midst of a third small project which needs an hour here and there this week, and I have been neglecting my toastmaster's club so I want to do a bit of work for them today. I'm going to go get a giant glass of water, and buckle down to finish up my todo list and schedule for the day, then I'll work on closing out project 1.

Thanks for starting, Sam. And thanks to all of you for being here.
Lots to do today. I may try to start doing more over the weekend, as well as putting in longer work days during the week. It seems I am always behind and missing deadlines. Oh, well, it's probably better than it used to be. Today...

Checking out... I didn't do as badly as it looks today. The mower wouldn't start and then my sister needed help with her car battery, all of which took about three hours. As a result, I didn't get the grass cut until 1 p.m. I'll hit it again tomorrow and see how it goes.

Thanks Journey!
Yes, definitely. Finishing one task seems to take away my energy to start the next one. It's very easy to procrastinate in that setting.
