TGiT,
Show (done) moving forward, progress not perfection.good to check in here, have texting buddies to help focus on next 1-3 tasks, only way I can move forward, have a "running tab" of tasks on paper to pick from and remind me. Also helps to write what I completed. Did lots and lots of coda work due to teen issues, but results were worth it. Thank god for 12 step recovery paths and people. Trying to keep up wi basics and looked at calendar today. Hope we all experience a grace filled day. Thanks for being here.
Inching along
Had a nice productive, but overly long, day yesterday. A key culprit was getting very stressed and anxious and procrastinating about really getting started until almost noon. I found an online site with a variety of guided meditations and did a "1 minute calming meditation" which actually helped. I then proceeded to work pretty effectively through the day, listening to "Music for Meditation" online to keep the anxiety at bay. As I got some things done, the anxiety decreased to a manageable level.
I was also actively trying to push myself along at a little higher rate than my typical comfort zone, which is best described as easily distractible plodding. One of my colleagues indirectly, but kindly, suggested it, by telling me how he manages to work so quickly. It reminded me of another colleague some years ago, who was a competitive swimmer. At the time I was swimming for exercise - very slowly, of course - and I asked him how I could improve my pace. He observed me at the university pool one day, and gave me a few specific tips. But he also said something that may sound trite, but which actually makes a lot of sense, "The only way to swim fast is to try to swim fast." So I have to try to 'swim' fast. Or at least less ploddingly.
Today's goal is to do something similar to yesterday, with a key difference. I want to leave at 7 PM so I can go do a little exercise, following up on Sunday's tentaive foray into that realm after months of sedentism. We will see.
Goal 1: 30 minute blocks, continuously
Goal 2: Break for lunch before 2 PM
Goal 3: 30 minute blocks until 7 PM
Goal 4: Leave at 7 PM
Goal 5: Exercise at least 30 minutes
Goal 6: Bed by 11 PM
Back to report.
6.14 - Ian's checkin / to-do list
Bad ideas plucking at me, and I don't want it to be that kind of day. First a daily spiritual renewal, then back here to post a to-do list.
TO-DO LIST
FIRST THINGS FIRST - RECOVERY
Toolkit: I want to make habitual use of these. Whether or not I actually use a given tool on a particular day isn't the point — it's whether I'm choosing to pick them up, regularly and often, and use the right tool at the right time.

I heard a great idea that you may like. Did you ever write a 10 step "what I did right today" inventory. I am quite sure it will help change your day.
vic - re 10th Step
Yeah, I have. But not often — my habit is to be so demoralized by the end of the day that I just let the tube and sleep take me; it's hard to put my shoulder into working a program regardless of my emotional state.
But thanks for reminding me that this does work, and just for today I know I can, and will, give it a shot.
Journey 9:30
Happy Day! I'm working from home today and I have a brand new laptop. My old one has been repaired 4 times in the past year and I guess they finally figured out that it needed to be replaced even though it is still has 8 weeks left on the warranty. The poor tech (whose name is the same as mine in real life) is tired of dealing with me and my piece o' junk laptop lol.
I got absolutely nothing done yesterday except attend four meetings and deal with computer problems. I will resist feeling that 'behind' feeling that gets us in trouble, and I will review my todo list, prioritize, and figure out what is most important to do today. I'll check back with todo list.
Update 4 pm I've completed 3 of 5 MITs. #3 took about 3 times as long as I thought it would :( but it's done. Now I'm going to work on #4 for an hour and #5 for an hour then call it a day.

Not a happy day. Broke. Tax payment due tomorrow. Maybe something will come in the mail today. At least I deliver Meals on Wheels today. That will expose me to some people who are a lot worse off. Off to try to change what I can...

I clicked off almost all my tasks today, but no money came in the mail so I'm overdrawn on my checking account and need to send a big chunk of cash to the IRS tomorrow. Kind of annoying. Then again, it's better than some of hte peopel I delivered meals to today. No complaining. I'll try to do more tomorrow and, hopefully, all will be well.
