9.05 am Tuesday
Here it is Tuesday already. I am feeling very challenged over whether to apply for some part-time work to supplement my consulting, since I have had almost no new clients the last few months. Agonising over whether it is worth putting the time and energy into applying, when I could be getting my current report finished. I guess it is this kind of indecision that fuels some appalling procrastination I have done with job applications in the past.
Ok, here goes. I will aim for 3 hours on each, plus two phone calls (second one can be postponed if necessary) and a quick banking job.
The good: Did 2 hours on job application and 1 hour on report. Started to feel more positive about job application once I got past the initial bad feelings. Got other minor jobs done.
The bad: Only did HALF the hours I was aiming for - took too long on lunch and played a computer game when I was having a slump.
Journey 1 pm & update
Been in a rush all morning with meetings . . . I feel flustered, distracted, disorganized. Coming to this forum to suck up some of your positive energy, then going to make a todo list for the afternoon. I know I have some must-dos for this afternoon and I want to get some project work done too.
Update 6 pm Did my MITs but didn't get any project work done. I guess that's ok, that's why they are MITs eh?
Tomorrow is another day, headed home now. I will pick up dinner and do a load of laundry when I get home.

Hi everyone,
Back from spring break trip and then a seminar trip.
Reading for today:
Financial Goals
Taking responsibility for our financial affairs will improve our self-esteem and lessen anxiety.
Each of us, today, has a present set of financial circumstances. We have a
certain amount of money in hand, and money due to us. We have a pile of
bills that we owe. We have taxes to pay. Those are our present financial
circumstances. No matter what the details are, acceptance, gratitude,
and self-responsibility will lessen the stress.
Each of us, today, has a financial future. There are few future aspects of
our life we can control, but one part we can play to assist our future
is setting goals.
We don't have to obsess about our goals. We don't have to constantly watch and mark
our progress toward them. But it is beneficial to think about our goals
and write them down. What do we want to happen in our financial future?
What financial problems would we like to solve? What bills would we like
to be rid of? What would we like to be earning at the end of this year?
The end of next year? Five years from now?
Are we willing to work for our goals and trust our Higher Power to guide us?
Pay bills on time. Contact creditors. Make arrangements. Do your best,
today, to take responsibility for your finances. Set goals for the
future. Then, let go of money and concentrate on loving. Taking
responsibility for our financial affairs does not mean making money our
focus. Taking responsibility for our finances enables us to take our
focus off money. It frees us to do our work and live the life we want.
We deserve to have the self-esteem and peace that accompanies financial responsibility.
Today, I will take the time necessary to be responsible for myself
financially. If it is time to pay bills or talk to creditors, I will do
that. If it is time to set goals, I will do that. Once I have done my
part, I will let the rest go.

I choose to show up and start my top 6 tasks, 15 to 30 minutes at a time. I complete my top 6 tasks -- in 15 to 30 minute periods.I embrace the pain or feeling the pain while I do these tasks.
I know that if I have that old feeling of pain or anxiety while I am working on my top 6 - I will embrace and love that pain since it means that I am doing something important.
And remember . . . if I am feeling resistance or "shame" or "screwed up" or if I procrastinated at something lately, it's probably just the Dynamics of Human Change doing its checks & balances . . . I am going to keep going!

Very productive yesterday, and didn't kill myself too much with cleaning, but body is sore. YAY, ((my boss)) bought in cat carrier!!!

now I'm scrambling to try to even look at it and make it right. hope i can deal with the nausea and dizziness that panic is bringing. maybe today i'll hit my procrastination rock bottom...

came in late and stuffed about 30 letters that should have gone out a long time ago. oh man. at least they are done. i'm not all done, but i'm getting closer. still prolly going to be scrambling tomorrow. Thanks again everyone for support

Got into work at a decent time today, which I'm proud of.
However, this weekend was totally unproductive, and I'm having a hard time today.
I have a student to supervise this morning. So I need to do some work with her (order, planning, talk to EA, look at samples, and maybe start computational project.)
I also need to make a schedule for the week, mail taxes, do proofreading, look at slides, put together a demo, and take care of as much expt. stuff as possible.

A pretty busy week ahead. Major challenge is to figure out how to keep going when I'm out of money. I am not sure how to get my clients to pay faster. I have two meetings with coaches for this week, after doing a phone meeting last week with one. Perhaps they will have some ideas. Meanwhile...

Eek it is Monday!
I have been struggling lately- physically struggling to get things done. Part of it is sheer exhaustion and part is distractions and wanting a break after dealing with Connor teething and being upset. Trying to catch up.

It's really tricky sometimes because if the stars aren't aligned, I can't even make par. For instance the dishwasher has been out for a few days now and it is another half hour out my hw time. Not to mention, like I said, I get so exhausted that I think I need a "break" and end up not getting as much done.
Thanks for the positive support! :) I'm feeling good about this week, but my parents *do* need to come relieve me for a weekend!!!
Teething
Teething is really hard. It sounds like you're a young mum and studying at the same time! Wow, I don't know how you do it. Hints: if you use teething gel, first wipe the gums dry with a cloth. My babies LOVED 10ml red wine when teething, given in a syringe (you should have seen their eyes light up!). It helped everyone to be horizontal at night.
Re: teething
We have some topical anasthetic that my dad's dentist gave him when he mentioned Connor, but I didn't know about the dry gums. I'm not even really sure if it is always that, just been *extra* fussy lately.
And yep that's what I'm doing! Studying either biology or physics. It's crazy!

First I am going for my bike ride (exercise), then I will work through my to do list. Need to do some billable hours; also want to make an official phone call on behalf of my son. I pray that this goes well, asking for help to stay calm and not act angry and impatient on the phone, as I know that won't help. But persistence is good!
