Well, my plans got messed up right after my last check-in. My oldest brother, whom I almost never talk to, emailed my out of the blue today. Several months back I told him that even though we never talk, I was there if he ever needed me. His family has been going through some major problems, but have kept themselves pretty isolated. Anyway, today he seriously opened up to me. I pretty much took the rest of the day at work to compose my response. I'm thrilled we are now communicating, I've seen him once in probably 4 years and only spoken about 4 times in that same time frame. But it's sad too, to hear him struggling so badly.
Well, I guess I hit preview instead of post this morning, oh well. I've been too busy to worry much about what's not getting done, anyway.

Getting someone to communicate with you and being there for them is a great accomplishment. Hard to put it on a list but that doesn't make it any less important.
Hi guys, sorry I keep disappearing. Anyone else experience the phenomenon of comitting yourself making healthy changes in your life and then life (ilness, accidents, etc.) gets in the way? It seems that I am experiencing that now. Today my back was feeling better finally, but dd0 came down with a bad cold and i had to take her to the doctor, which threw my day off entirely. DD3 is now running a fever too... ARGH.... That doesn't boade (sp?) well for the rest of us. I am doubling up on my immune booster vitamins, so maybe I can escape. Anyhow. hopefully tomorrow while the girls are napping I can get back on track with my new household management program that I have been working on.
I hear that jestright made a reappearance! Good for you Jest right! Glad you came back!
Hi GID - I'm hearing you. My DS has gastro today, not vomiting, just the other end. Not fun!!!!! The last 'episode' required him to be stood in the bath and 'hosed' clean. He didn't like it one bit and screamed himself stupid. Luckily it was pretty much time for bed so he crashed (all that screaming can take it out of you if you have very little energy in the first place!).
Sometimes I am very grateful he's still in nappies - imagine the mess if he wasn't??!!!!!
Glad to hear you're going well on the household management front - don't try to do it all at once!!!!
And I've been disappearing, too. I have decided to stop bookending for a while and see how I go. I realised it took up a lot of time that I could be doing things with. I now just have to see if I get less done now I'm not doing it!!!! I might be back!!!
I did miss the cheers recently, tho, because on Tuesday I COMPLETELY finished a MASSIVE work frog by focussing on it all day, and it worked! It's done - not even a loose end in sight! I would have gotten lots of cheers from you guys for doing that, 'cause you're all so supportive :).
It's really weird - I'm hungry, but I don't want to eat. Is that the "no appetite" thing from being sick? Even though I'm hungry, the thought of eating something seems unappealing. Maybe if I eat something very light?
I couldn't come up with a better way. I'm just looking for more goals and successes (that't what bookending is to me.) Your illness discussion almost belongs in the "off Topic" forum.
Take what you want, leave the rest.
My apartment gets worse and worse every day I'm sick because I don't have the energy to wash dishes and pick up. It's starting to look like a trash heap. :(

I've taken no pills at all today - that's bad. If I don't take my medicine or vitamins, it will only cause new problems (on top of the problem of my bronchitis).
I suffered through going out to the drug store to pick up a prescription for cough syrup. It wasn't very pleasant, but I feel a lot better now that I'm not constantly coughing. For the last two nights I had to sleep sitting up because I coughed uncontrollably when I lay down.
Last time I took my temp it was 101.5F. It's going up, not down. :( My regular doctor will be in tomorrow, and he may prescribe antibiotics. The guy standing in for him only wanted to prescribe the cough syrup. That's okay - what I needed most desperately was cough syrup.
I need to lay out my pills for today and take dose #1.
Also, I'm hungry.
I got $20 cash from the pharmacy. Not much, but I didn't have it in me to walk further and find a cash machine. I hope I don't run out of cash before I'm better.
Morning, all. Today is a catch up day so that tomorrow can be a massive cleanup day.

Looks like a light day so far. That's great because I added a good bit more to my sleep debt last night. Not my fault. The dog went nuts and woke up the baby because of thunder - trying to hide under the crib (80 lb dog doesn't fit). The only thing I could do was sleep on the floor with him but he kept waking me up. This is too much. Time to call the vet and see if there is anything they can do for him.

My fever is up to 101 and climbing. I am not getting better, and I can't stand being this uncomfortable. I called my doctor in NE just now and begged them to call in prescriptions for me for cough medicine and antibiotics - same as they prescribed for me last April when I got acute bronchitis the first time. The office manager said he'll speak to the doctor about it and call me back.
I'm sorry you're still feeling bad. There's a chance that I might be able to get you a doctor recommendation - I've got a couple of friends who I believe live in your area. Let me know if you'd like me to ask them. If not for this round of illness, having a doctor in town seems desirable.
My mother has a doctor in NYC who is in our neighborhood (west village), but when I called, the nurse told me his practice was closed (and she wasn't very nice about it, either).
I'm happy keeping my doctor in NE - the problem is that he can't see me when I'm sick and he doesn't like prescribing without seeing me. I feel very capable of diagnosing myself - don't know why he doesn't like that. :)
Poor pro..
In your stuffed-up haze you posted this in "Announcements". Although I'm surprised you had the energy to post at all :).
Just thought I'd tell you if anyone is ever looking for this thread late on!!!!!
oops!
I fixed it. The one thing this very limited forum software lets me do is move an entire thread from one board to another.

I've been posting in the bookending section because I need to take my pills every day, and I tend not to do that when I'm sick.

I still haven't taken any meds today. :(
On the plus side, the cough medicine finally allowed me to sleep - I had a nice nap earlier.
I'll take out my meds now, swallow Dose #1, and check in again after.

I hope they take care of that for you.
When you're that sick, the right medicine sure helps.
