Insomnia last night - terrible day today!

It's Thursday night just after 9:00 pm.

I woke up at least twice last night for an hour at a time and woke up half a dozen times throughout the night. I was surprised to have a bad night as I ran during the day and got more done than usual. I did have problems with my sister yesterday who is on my back more than usual to get me to harass people to give me work.

I was wide awake so I listened to a bit of TV (I didn't have my contacts in so I couldn't see anything the first time I woke. The second time I read the morning paper, which I can do without my contacts) This is the first time this has happened to me that I've felt this bad in over a month. As long as days like this don't happen too often!

I'm exhausted today and I couldn't think. I didn't get anything done except for a few personal things. It's not that I'm waiting for some thing to hit me to get motivated but I'm exhausted. If I nap during the day it destroys my sleep schedule and I can't get to sleep in the evening. I know I'm going to have days like this but not too often. I shouldn't get down on myself because of it.

I went for a long walk today and I felt better. I will listen to my meditation tapes at 11:00 just before bed and I know I will feel better.

If I get a really good night's sleep, I might get more done than I planned.

I plan to do the same thing tomorrow as I was supposed to do today, except I will take a break mid-day to run and will stop work at 6:00 pm to meet a friend for dinner. I'm really looking forward to my dinner as my friend doesn't get me down. On Saturday afternoon I will work on what I was supposed to do this evening so I'm caught up for the week.

10.30 am Thursday

Thanks for the starter, FNS. It's Thursday in Australia anyway!

Having a lot of fear around planning and prioritising. Will try to make a realistic list for the rest of today that includes 30 mins planning.

Work:

  • M list
  • G invoice
  • planning 30 mins
  • ring SS
  • ring PC
  • pay bills
  • send rego to M
  • ring BD
  • declutter computer desk
  • prepare for Friday

Home:

  • ring NP
  • ring my son
  • donation org - contact them
  • music or health care research

Noticed 3 things today:

  • planning isn't so scary once I start
  • I underestimate how long things will take and overestimate how much I can do at night when I'm tired
  • if I decide to add in extra tasks then other tasks don't get done (obvious, huh!)

Crazybug CI

A morning wasted.  But I can still choose to make progress this afternoon.

Need to learn techniques/meditations to bring my mind above my physical symptoms.

A reality set out in black/white that I read yesterday:

"Real procrastinators tell themselves five lies:
• They overestimate the time they have left to perform tasks.
• They underestimate the time it takes to complete tasks.
• They overestimate how motivated they will feel the next day, the next week, the next month -- whenever they are putting things off to.
• They mistakenly think that succeeding at a task requires that they feel like doing it.
• They mistakenly believe that working when not in the mood is suboptimal. "

Positive Energy

It's so easy to look around and notice what's wrong.

It takes practice to see what's right.

Many of us have lived around negativity for years. We've become skilled at
labeling what's wrong with other people, our life, our work, our day,
our relationships, our conduct, our recovery, and ourselves.

We want to be realistic, and our goal is to identify and accept reality.
However, this is often not our intent when we practice negativity. The
purpose of negativity is usually annihilation.

Negative thinking empowers the problem. It takes us out of harmony. Negative
energy sabotages and destroys. It has a powerful life of its own.

So does positive energy. Each day, we can ask what's right, what's good -
about other people, our life, our work, our day, our relationships,
ourselves, our conduct, our recovery.

Positive energy heals, conducts love, and transforms. Choose positive energy.

Today, God help me let go of negativity. Transform my beliefs and thinking, at
the core, from negative to positive. Put me in harmony with the good.

MY BASICS: checking in; support calls(1x); affirmations; gratitudes; reading; check calendar AM; check calendar PM; write down my 6 most important tasks; voicemail; exercise; manage A; manage D; use "tracking time"/master list; use timer

Affirmations (said aloud as well):

I choose to show up and start my top 6 tasks, 15 to 30 minutes at a time.

I set my mind to my top 6 tasks and I complete them -- in 15 to 30 minute periods.

Have a wonderful Wednesday  smiling

Yesterday was not great, not bad. I am resistant to goals and time-keeping. I tell myself it's a waste of time. Of course, it's also a way to stay conscious and avoid much bigger dropouts of time.

today:
-start large, looming SA project 4x instead of other tasks
-request out of Thur. committee
-assess & negotiate Friday deadline with S
-make decision about Thur. shoot

thanks,

Journey 10 am one of those days

Yes, I'm having one of those days! I'm working from home, it's a beautiful day outside, my daughter keeps skyping me because she hurt her shoulder and now she's on her own and mom's not there to take care of her ;-) ::wink::. My husband is having 'everyone's favorite medical test' today so I'll be driving him to the doctor in about 30 minutes and that will probably take a couple of hours at least.

So it's a disjointed day and I'm having trouble concentrating. But, I've been to the gym and my todo list is made. Now I need to do some triage and prioritizing and then make myself a schedule for the rest of the day. I can tell that I'm easily distractible today so I'll use Instant Boss and work in 20 minute intervals with 10 minute breaks to do some chores around the house. That should help alleviate my restlessness today and I can get my work done and get my household chores done.

Right now I'm going to get dressed for the doctor appt. I can do my schedule on paper while I'm waiting, take care of email on the blackberry, and make a phone call. Then I'll relax and read my book for a few minutes :)

laters - I'll check in when I get back from the doc to get myself back in gear.

The good news is that for once I have started my assignment rather than putting it off until I have  to drop out of the course. I have only to Friday to finish it and I have only written one third but now that I have started I know I can finish.

So I didn't do much else but at least the study plate is spinning now. I will finish the assignment and pace my study so I don't put it off to the last minute. I will get more out of it and learn more that way too as well as not becoming so stressed.
