Reading for the Day:
In soloing--as in other activities--it is far easier to start something than it is to finish it.
—Amelia Earhart
Procrastinatio plagues us all, at one time or another. But for compulsive procrastinators it has become an escape from life or a twisted way of thinking it will help us get the activity done.
Any activity that is worthy of our effort should be tackled by bits and pieces, one day at a time.
We are too easily overwhelmed when we set our sights only on the
accomplished goal. We need to focus, instead, on the individual elements
and then on just one element at a time. A book is written word-by-word.
A house is built timber-by-timber. A college degree is attained
course-by-course.
By the time we got to this program, most of u had accumulated a checkered past, much of which we wanted to deny or
forget. And the weight of our past can stand in the way of the many
possibilities in the present.
Our past need not determine what we set out to do today. However, we must be realistic: We can't change a
behavior pattern overnight. But we can begin the process.
We can decide on a reasonable, manageable objective for this 24-hour period. Enough
days committed to the completion of enough small objectives will bring
us to the attainment of any goal, large or small.
Affirmation: I can finish any task I set my sights on, when I take it one day at a time. Today is
before me. I can move forward in a small way.
Affirmation [from CLA] Here's a second one since I can always use more.
1. I decide which are the most important things to do first.
2. I schedule quiet time for communing with my Higher Power. Before I accept any new commitments, I first ask guidance from my Higher Power.
3. When I feel overwhelmed, I stop and reconnect with my Higher Power.
4. I ask for help if I have any difficulties in working the program
My Basics:
gratitudes, reading, affirmation, check calendar, plan to plan, action plan emailed to 2 others, checked vcml/emailExercise; Billing/emails prior dayYesterday: Didn't finish or even start on 1 memo I wanted to get going. Need to block out time and prioritize my 3 MIT.
Also didn't get the billing done for prior day & I planned
to work for 3 hours in evening which was unrealistic since I had kid for
the evening.
Sleep: I have been working on getting 7 hours sleep a night and that
has been working. Hard for me to be productive given I used the nights
to catch up. So that is a big adjustment. This is the second week of
being in bed early by 10:30 and always before midnight.
Ask at end of day: did I complete 3 things on action plan? No. Didn't finish one because I didn't start early enough. Also am distracted with big volunteer dinner I am in charge of with 200 people attending. Last minute rsvp's, confirming volunteers, dinner #s, and other work.
Did I go to my appointments? yes

*Check on expts

*Shop for tomorrow's party
*Make 2 phone calls
OK, I'll start with coverslipping samples so I can look at them
Journey 9:30
Slow start today, but I've been to the gym, done email, checked calendar. I have a meeting at 10 and I want to go out to lunch so I'll need to focus to get everything done today. I'm feeling sluggish and having a bit of an upset tummy this morning (which was the reason for the slow start). I'm going to have coffee and make todo list before the 10 am meeting. It's not a multi-tasking meeting either, it will require my full attention .
I'm pretty much ready for this weekend except for making the final last minute updates. I need to write my backout plans and post them, but otherwise I'm good. There is one request that is low-priority that just came in yesterday, so if I have time I'll work on that today, but it can wait until next week if needed.
coffee. todolist. later.
