Procrastinators Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from chronic procrastination.
Working tonight - I slept in a little bit and then took an hour nap. I bought groceries and made a quick dinner (local grocery had rotisserie pork roast and it's yummy) . I'll be working at least 8 hours tonight, but I'm ready for what I need to do. Tomorrow will be be a relaxation day, along with a bit of housework.
I am happy to report that yesterday was one of the most productive days that I've had in a long time. Not only did I get all my work done, but I had time left over to work on my goals and plans for the work year 2011.
I completed all my projects last year but I was late on a major project early in the year. This year, I want to have milestones for my major projects so that if I start running behind at any point I can get help. I talked to my boss about what he's going to put on my review and he said I'd get dinged for being late, but that I did really well on another big project, so it will average out and I'll get a decent review for the year.
Have a great weekend all.

Never have an ordinary day! - Pepperidge Farm (lol)
I'm new so I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post this question! I tried to get on the phone meeting at 8am PST in the USA and called this number several times 218-339-3600 access code 119655# but no one has been on there... How do I get on a phone meeting/check in?? Thanks for your help!
I'm addicted to procrastinating and at first I was a little relieved to finally realize that... is in I knew it's been a "problem" in my life but I didn't call it or realize it's my addiction! Today I'm overwelmed and frustrated. Please pray for me, THANKS! I'm very grateful for this site and all the participants, I can relate!
the attendance at the phone meetings varies from 0 to 7 or so. You might have hit a time when it was 0. That's disappointing and a demotivator, or it would be for me, but i if can encourage you: this is a place where people are recovering from addiction to procrastination.
Show up (done) Did not check in yesterday and instead of "wanting" to check in today, I felt that old "Why bother checking in" thinking. " Before you know it, I will be back to who needs this,l thinking.
Once again in a "teen crisis" with older son and feeling drained, codependent, on top of snow everyday, etc., etc. Hanging on by a thing thread. Yesterday I heard a oa phone meeting and someone who had to lose 120 lbs said she feels so overwhelmed, she is blown away into despair when she thinks of the amount. I could relate the feeling when I think of all I procratinate on. Grateful for my friends and PA connections. Thanks for letting me share. Even though I have a strong craving to shut down for awhile, (like I have some control/ the lie I believed that got me here), I know it will be a start of a shut down relapse so I am still showing up barely.
1:18 PM: At work on a Saturday, trying to catch up from the week. New job, but same old pattern. Well, at least I can work on trying to be effective and focused today.
Goal 1: 1:25-2:25 PM: 1 hour, 2 cases. Back to report *when the timer dings*. (Often fail to close the loop on this, which defeats the purpose.)
"I can't help it" . . . that's what we all say when we don't want to exert ourselves. —Eva Lathbury
Irresponsible
behavior is not unfamiliar to us. Passivity is equally familiar. In the
past, excusing ourselves of all responsibility prevented us from being
blamed. We have learned that it also prevented us from feeling worthy,
from fulfilling our potential, from feeling the excitement that comes
with achievement.
Our fear of failure helped us to be
irresponsible. We may still fear failure, but the program offers us an
antidote. We can't fail if we have turned our lives over to our higher
power. We will be shown the way to proceed. Our fellow travelers have
messages for us that will smooth our path.
I have chosen
recovery. I have already said, "I can help it." I will celebrate that I
am taking responsibility for my life today.
From Each Day a New Beginning: Daily Meditations
Checking in.
Basics: exercise. check email/vcml. check calendar. plan to plan.
Appointment with nutritionist: 9:30 am DONE Was on time -- even though she was 15 min late. I used to justify being late since I know she tends to run late.
This appointment was good for me since I tend to cancel or put off self care. Good news in that even though I don't need to lose any weight, I gained 3 lbs of muscle, my body fat lowered 2% & I was hydrated -- with 3 more lbs of water & 3 more liters of water in my body. Made an appointment in 4 weeks so I can check in next month. It's a day at a time to get more fit. Picked upsome more vitamins/supplements.
Pick up things for party (4 places to go) - save receipts and submit for reimbursement DONE[this is an improvement since I used to not submit and just "donate" or do it months later.
4 pm - get ready for big volunteer dinner - which I am in charge of 190 RSVPs so far. DONE went very well. Got compliments that it was the best party yet.
5 pm - Big volunteer dinner. that will last till 10 or 11 pm. Done was a big success and I did things more in advance than last year and delegated more & got 4 other volunteers to help.
Man, I am SERIOUSLY rebelling today against all I have to do. Stayed up late last night watching TV, slept in this morning, now I really realy don't want to work.
ok, well I know one effective way to get past rebellion is to lower my expectations temporarily. I've been giving myself huge lists that it was totally impossible to complete, so of course I'm feeling like a failure and having trouble working. This morning I don't have very long to work (about 4 hours, then I'm throwing a dinner party for friends!): I'd like to:
*Microburst presentation (I got one beautiful slide done! yay!)
*Check on expts
*Code to read in tables
If I get all of those done, that's fantastic and I've been totally successful today. If I get even one done, that's good too.
Relaxed a ton yesterday to celebrate handing my paper in on time. This is a BIG deal because last time I was in college (and high school) I handed in lots of things late.
Today I'm going to my friends house for dinner, so can't schedule TOO much stuff. . .
Things to do today- -Vitamins -#1 #2 #3 #4 #5 #6 #7 #8 #9 -Do 3 math problems for tues -Make brownies to bring -Go to bookstore to pick up present -Find some way to wrap it lol -Connor's laundry- washing -Connor's laundry- drying -Sheets washing -Sheets drying
-Maaaybe laundry for Connor- we'll see how time looks when I'm done showering
Now I HAVE to do layndry because Connor accidentally kicked my cereal and it got all over the sheets. But I have time! yay
awesome, tracy-la
tracy-la, that was awesome. My HP prepared me for that today before i got here, and that hit home bullseye.
I am so grateful to HP today for what he's done in my life!!!
