>I have a bad habit of staying up late the night before a trip, trying to get things done.
I do the same. When I was living at my house in rural NE, I visited New York regularly, and the night before I was to leave was always when I finally handled my pile, paid my bills, etc. I used to think that if I never traveled, I'd never get these things done. I have no idea why I could let a pile sit there for a month, and then when I'm about to leave town for a week it suddenly becomes urgent to go through it. :?
Since I've been posting here, it's no longer an issue because I stay much more on top of things. If I have a pile (as now), it's very small and takes only a short time to go through. I'm also caught up on my bills. The last time I visited the boonies (last Wednesday), I almost forgot to go (my Outlook reminder didn't do its thing), but I was able to get packed and ready in under two hours because I've been keeping up with things.
That's exactly what I'm doing now! Time bingeing on prep. I just said to DSO I could have 'cobble it together' much quicker, but people have paid good money to be on this retreat, and I'm determined they're going to get good value.
I said at 9:30pm that I was going to start my bedtime routine, and for the next 1 hour and 40 minutes, I did precisely NOTHING (unless you count Tetris and TV as something.)
I've really been falling down on my bedtime routine lately. I'm starting too late, getting to bed too late, getting up too late, and I've been skipping the evening shower. I need to get back on the beam.
I also notice I'm yelling at myself a lot. Maybe that has something to do with my current non-productivity - I'm not feeling good about myself for some reason. Maybe that's also why I went into isolation for a couple of days. I don't know what's up with me lately.
Probably the most productive thing I could do now is to get ready for bed. I didn't do too well today. Oh well. Tomorrow is another day! (Right, Scarlett? :) )

My puter has tried to throw me out three times, so now I'm out!
Feeling a lot better about the weekend - sometimes just getting my files sorted is all that's needed to get my mind sorted.
I've been dotting around off list, but it's all been good stuff. Got the course plan done and the first session, and most of the rest follows the same pattern of the first session, with the content from the course plan, so the session plans should only take a couple of hours.
The handouts are done and organised and labelled in a folder.
The course file is set up and organised.
Got reference books and CDs sorted (in a pile actually - my teaching box seems to have been overtaken by books, so I'll have to kick them out tomorrow, or see if I can find another teaching box in the cupboard).
I'm going to bed now to get a good night's sleep - just want to do my day plan first so I'll get a good start tomorrow, so I'll go and start tomorrow's thread (it's Friday where Milo is anyway, so I'm not too premature).
I desperately want to leave but I think I can knock out these two frogs in a half hour or so. I'm DEFINITELY out of here by 6 pm.

I'm not sure if this is a late BOTH or an early TOTH.
pro is this the one you said you weren't bothered about any more or is this the other one? (Is it the one you dreamt about? Just being nosey there).
Did some work on the session plans whilst DSO took DDog out. Tried texting him but his phone was here - still texted him anyway (working out how to do predictive text - I realised it thought I was French and now I've fixed it. I've had this phone years, and I've only just bothered to work out this function. I must be desperate to procrastinate).
DSO got back, and I figured that in his 'general support' role it would be useful if he made me a cup of tea, so I did a big gulp. He said I was worse than DDog for manipulation and there was no need for me to gulp. So I cried instead, LOL. I don't think he knew I could do that. It was very funny because although I can turn on crying I can't switch off laughing, so I was doing both at the same time.
OK - that's the end of my little time out - getting back to it.
>pro is this the one you said you weren't bothered about any more or is this the other one? (Is it the one you dreamt about? Just being nosey there).
It's not the one I dreamt about (aka The Sociopath). I wouldn't contact that person.
While I was driving last Wednesday, I impulsively called an ex from 20 years ago. That night, by coincidence, I got an email from someone else I used to date 30 years ago. I met ex-30 for coffee last Saturday and decided that was all the contact I wanted. Ex-20 - the one I'd contacted - only got my message today and called me back. That's the person I was on the phone with for 2 hours. We're going to meet for coffee next Thursday.
I'm kind of nervous about this because we fell back into the old patterns instantly (great rapport, looooong phone conversation), though in the last 20 years we've had contact only once, and that was 8 years ago. I think we could easily return to the full-blown relationship as it was, and I'm not sure that's a good idea. There was a reason I ended it. We seem to be sliding in that directly with frightening speed.
I'm still trying to get my bearings after my marathon phone conversation with ex-from-20-years-ago. We still have that rapport. I'm afraid this will lead us back to where we were, and I'm not sure that's a good thing. I have time to think about this. Right now I need to get some work done.
There's a whole lot on my to-do list that's not going to get done because of my 2 hours on the phone. I shouldn't have initiated contact. I'm regretting it already.

Hmm. Seeing a definite pattern here - I am really not good at estimating how much I can get done in a day. Ahhh, the smell of unrealistic expectations on the day before vacation.

Well, I got through almost half a day programming before being sidetracked by another unrelated "urgent" (to them) request *sigh*. Too bad. I was having fun. Anyways, I think I decided to keep working on the kitchen when I get home and let the other stuff wait. Better to have one "done" task than three "half done" tasks. Note to self: "It's on the list. It will get done when the time comes. Stop worrying about it."
Things I chose to do so far today:
- Email caught up
- Programming
- AM Meeting
Things I'd still like to do today:

An hour and a half since I said I would check in TOTH and BOTH :(
Done
*Procrastinated some more (CUOP)
*Did a little bit of yoga (which made me feel much better - why didn't I think of that before)
*Made a cup of tea
*Frightened myself into replying to Jury Service letter (if I wait until after I get back from retreat they could fine me £1000)
*Tried to file it under 'J', discovered I'd never filed a 'J' thing before and made a file folder up for it
*Checking in and clearing desk
Started off well this morning, was very positive and got a lot done. Went into procrastination mode about three hours ago and now I feel like a blob. I was keen to get my todo list done, so I could look forward to date night tonight, but now I hardly care about any of it, date night included. I'll be caring tomorrow when I have to deal with the repercussions. I'd like to get out of this cocoon - it's suffocating me.
So! I choose to sit up straight; take a ~timed~ break away from the computer (15 mins - get a cup of tea - decaff English Breakfast should do the trick); and return to my desk to do the following:
*Finish planning sessions for weekend
*Prep handouts
*Prep flip chart
*Pack teaching box
*Pack my bags
*Pack car
*Respond to Emails
Tempted to respond to Emails now, but I know they always take me longer than I imagine, and they wipe me out, so I'm going to do them last.
Then, depending on what time it is, I might play around with my Weekly Review and stuff because I'm not likely to be able to do it tomorrow. I'll report back TOTH and BOTH.
Good morning. What a crazy night I had - no time to post, but I did get most of my list done. I have a lot to do today - I'm taking tomorrow and Monday off.

I didn't get up at 6, which would have been handy in many ways, because I went to bed too late and I nearly always feel that the sleep is more important. At 7:30, though, DS called and said he'd brought the wrong backpack to school, so I took him his phone and backpack. Then I fed the kitten because it was yowling and I don't know if DD overlooked him or not. Been doing cuop ever since, and NOW I have 30 minutes to dress and get to clergy meeting. Not very good planning or execution. I'll go informal. The drive will take 20 minutes! Then I can come home before I go to the nursing home. Will have to spiff up for that.

What if you'd not gotten out of your jammies and programmed all day? You'd feel worse then ;).
You had a good day. It was mostly routine stuff, but that IS important to your feeling of 'togetherness'.

Now I just have to get started on my bedtime routine. I've been playing Tetris and watching TV (mostly playing Tetris).
And now, of course, I'll get up late tomorrow morning.

(I'm still here BTW, because I opened a thread to get rid of the little red asterisk, and then I just had to CUOP. Talk about easily sidetracked...).
Norm's (next to) last post 10.40 pm
I'm going to bed now to get a good night's sleep - just want to do my day plan first so I'll get a good start tomorrow, so I'll go and start tomorrow's thread (it's Friday where Milo is anyway, so I'm not too premature).
pro's CI - 5:20pm
Notice how every day, something or other always prevents me from working on my back accounting? Today it was the phone call. This is bad. :(

Oh! And I emailed one of the retreatants too.
three different people
>pro is this the one you said you weren't bothered about any more or is this the other one?
We seem to be sliding in that directly with frightening speed.
take your time
follow your heart and your gut. if the reason you broke up is still there... well, ask yourself whether it's still a break-up offense.
good luck with all that!
Good point
Hope it all works out for the best for you pro - whatever happens.
pro's CI - 3:40pm
I'm still trying to get my bearings after my marathon phone conversation with ex-from-20-years-ago. We still have that rapport. I'm afraid this will lead us back to where we were, and I'm not sure that's a good thing. I have time to think about this. Right now I need to get some work done.
There's a whole lot on my to-do list that's not going to get done because of my 2 hours on the phone. I shouldn't have initiated contact. I'm regretting it already.

I've been on the phone with my ex from 20 years ago for nearly two hours - just hung up. We're going to get together next Thursday for coffee. I did manage to do my laundry while talking on the phone.

Hmm. Seeing a definite pattern here - I am really not good at estimating how much I can get done in a day. Ahhh, the smell of unrealistic expectations on the day before vacation.

I agree about the kitchen todayfirst - didn't want to unduly influence you before!
Tea eaten
Off to where DSO works now to pick up our camera for this weekend ashe forgot to bring it home.
todayfirst 2:00 PM
Well, I got through almost half a day programming before being sidetracked by another unrelated "urgent" (to them) request *sigh*. Too bad. I was having fun. Anyways, I think I decided to keep working on the kitchen when I get home and let the other stuff wait. Better to have one "done" task than three "half done" tasks. Note to self: "It's on the list. It will get done when the time comes. Stop worrying about it."
Things I chose to do so far today:
- Email caught up
- Programming
- AM Meeting
Things I'd still like to do today:
- Report updates

you know...
I didn't realize until after I posted it that you had asked the same question of someone else, earlier. Oh well! More proof of being twins.

I see the word "receipt" on the done list. That's kind of like "back accounting." :P

That's very charitable of you. I've done no accounting today (yet).

I'll report back TOTH and BOTH.
nice kitty
I think I just got hit in the face by a punching kitty. hee hee. It tickles :D
