Good night!
shana tova
:)
shana tova
back atcha. next year i want to actually participate. didn't this year.
thank you, scarlett!
I was wondering if I'd get a response of recognition from anybody. :)
This was the first year I ever fasted. I've never been able to do it in the past because the low blood sugar triggers migraines, but this year I took migraine medication prophylactically, and that fixed it.
It was a really nice family time. Also, it gave me the thought, once again, that I want to learn more about what's going on. I never did the "13 year old thing" (trying to be subtle here), and I'm thinking of doing it now, at age 50. One niece did it last year, the twins will be doing it next year (nieces are 12 and 14). I'm going to call today about it - also Friday night services, which are nice.
i'm a mutt.
one parent christian, the other jewish. we celebrate both. i meant to tell my folks to get me tickets for the services this year, but it snuck up on me again.
i wouldn't mind chatting more about this, but i guess we should take it offline if we do that.
???????
You've got me there. Have no idea what you mean!
or better said...
It was meant for those who would know what it meant. For others, it doesn't matter.
that's okay
Those who know will know. :)
I'm guessing..
It's a Jewish greeting or similar... :).
My name is of Jewish origin. Closest I get!.
it's...
Hebrew for "Good Year" (i.e. "Happy New Year"). Today was Yom Kippur.
Thought so :)
Is it okay for me to say shana tova back or do I have to be Jewish???!! :P
Oh, well, I will anyway, it's a nice thing to say either way - shana tova, pro!!!!!
I'm guessing that's why you went to your brother's place.
thanks, Milo
:)
Yes, that was the occasion for the visit to my brother's house. It was especially good because we've been arguing a lot. It was a peace offering for him to invite me, and I couldn't very well say no. It's hard to continue fighting with your relatives on that day - especially when going to a service that says explicitly in many places that you are not to get into resentful spats with your kin and stop speaking to them. :P

Well I'm very pleased with what I ~have~ got done, and strangely I'm less worried about what I haven't got done. (Disappointed that I didn't do it, but ran out of time due to earlier anxiety induced procrastination). I think I'm less worried because when I came to prep the talk the whole thing was outlined, and some of it was written in detail. I don't talk from detailed notes anyway so it was pretty much done. And I suspect the same is true of the retreat planning - I just need to pull it together. It still needs to be done, so I'm going to see if I can get any of it done tomorrow night. Might cry off meeting my friend on Wednesday night - we'll see how it goes.
Still got quite a bit to do before bedtime, so no more work tonight (I managed not to make those froggy phone calls - I'm sure it's procrastination - one of those ones that happens when you're not looking because you're busy doing something else).

during which I hope to focus better. Grr.
Sleep
Hope you get a good snooze in tonight then.
I'm the same as you seem to be - lack of sleep leads to procrastination. Took me a while to realise (actually I noticed it the other way first - that when I was well rested I was more task focused, then later I realised it worked the other way too - duh!).

Need a break from my weekly review. I'm restructuring my to-do list, so it's taking longer than I expected.

monday means...
... that every darn thing on my list is croaking like mad.
part of the problem
is that i didn't get enough sleep last night. i just tried to get away from my computer so i could work on the demo review, and started falling asleep. so i had to come back to my computer (and phone) b/c that's where my music is, which will help keep me awake.
Can you wear headphones?
I know you can't in some places, but I was wondering if you can listen to music anyway that maybe you could make your music portable.
I do have headphones.
I also have an ipod but it wasn't charged. Now it is, so my music is portable. :)

This is why it's good for me to get on the important stuff first thing in the morning - stuff keeps coming up and distracting me.
Until it's done, my focus today will be: the demo review. I will CI at TOTH and BOTH. Once I'm done with that, I will alternate working on my frogs and the other stuff that's been hanging around my list.
Already done:
Eat breakfast

LOL
If you break it into syllables do you get out of it quicker?
No.
In my head I was singing it. Which didn't really help either. ;)
To the tune of 'Congratulations' by any chance?
Fits pretty well - hmm, I can feel a new song coming on...I usually do little songs about my DDog, and I once did one about gingko biloba to the tune of Frosty the Snowman - I've even sung it to my workmates who think it's absolutely bonkers :)

good job!
on getting that phone call out of the way.
Phone call
I had to leave a message this morning, but tried one of those "avoid phone tag" tips and it worked. On the message I left, I told him when the best time to catch me in my office. Sure enough, he called me back and I was here.
What's a phone tag?
Playing phone tag
Is when you keep calling each other and getting voicemail and leaving messages back and forth. :)
ps - 1Focus, that's a great tip, one I'll use in future, for sure!
Great!
Picked that one up at my time management seminar. You'd think that solution would be self-evident ;)
Phone tag
Thanks - that makes sense. I try not to tell anyone when I'll be available because I don't want them to phone me, LOL! I try to persuade people to use Email - the phone is my last resort! (I'm not recommending this behaviour, BTW!).
another solution
I usually have the ringer off on my phone because I don't like receiving phone calls. Occasionally I'll turn it on if I'm expecting a call. 8)
Old technology
Can't do that on my phone. I've always had phones given to me - when I've got cash to splash I'm going to get one of those ones!

Today's going quite well, so far. Wasted a little time running errands, but its stuff I wanted to get done anyway. Let me make that phone call and get it out of the way. Least favorite first :O

You and me both, Normy. An hour since my last check-in and I haven't started on my focus item. Ahhh, Mondays. So. Once again. Right now I'm going to go outside for a few minutes to get centered, then I will come back in and start working.

Hi there Scarlett :)
Been over an hour since my last post and I've not started the next thing on the list yet:
*had lunch and cleared up
*got out of wet clothes (got rained on rather heavily)
*returned a phone call from a client wanting to rearrange appt
*received a phone call from a colleague re a client
*somehow I ended up transferring stuff from my old diary to the new one just started (found a couple of clashes - oops :O)
Hmm, looks like procrastination to me.

Good morning 1Focus - you're off to a good start!
My talk went very well - a sad time because a colleague who'd set up the talks died unexpectedly last week - part of my talk addressed death but it wasn't the major focus - wondered about taking it out, but it seemed appropriate to leave it in. Suddenly, a weight is lifted off my shoulders - there're are still several other weights there though, so I shall crack on!

Good going!
With your colleague's death,:( you probably have a doubly big weight off your shoulders now that the talk is through. Sending you good vibes for finishing the rest. :) Also, I like the Clean Sweep idea. 8) Would be great to do regularly, like once a month!
hi normy!
Glad to hear your talk went well - sorry to hear about your colleague.
Talk & Funeral
My second talk was for Monday, but it clashes with the funeral, so we've postponed the talk until the week after to allow people who want to attend to go. (I did some of the planning I usually do on Mondays today so I would be able to go too). I opened my mail at work and there was a memo from her advising me someone had died. Ironic - She had no idea that by the time I read it she'd be dead too. There are pros and cons to knowing you're dying. Another ironic thing - turns out she had cancer. It's freaking out some of the other therapists. Statistically, people who work with people with breast cancer are more likely to get it themselves, and now they're panicking that they're putting themselves at risk just working there. Wasn't breast cancer this colleague had though, and the levels of cancer amongst our staff are below average (I suspect because we are all health conscious anyway, or we wouldn't be therapists, and a heightened awareness of the risks motivates us to make healthier lifestyle choices). Doesn't matter how healthy the lifestyle though, something's going to get you one day (unless you're physically immortal, but I don't think there's many of those about!).
I've been getting excellent feedback from colleagues about the talk - two of them have even joined my mainstream class!

OK the talk's good to go - I'd done most of it already, but got caught up in the idea of acetates etc (perfectionist? Moi?). Anyway, I've ditched the acetates idea, and I'm going to use a good old-fashioned flip chart. Going off to work now to do the photocopying and set up the flip chart!
