Findingaway check-in 9.40 am

Smilefindingaway

As usual this is my Monday. Slow start to the work day, had to resolve problem with my husband, also a cooking task I didn't get done on the weekend.

I will continue with my report till lunchtime, smileys for each 30 mins.

After lunch will reconsider other things on my to do list and see what I think I can manage.

Thanks for the thread lennon.

Checking out today - Was pretty happy with my progress today even though the only paid work I did was on my report, but it was fairly solid. It's amazing for me, but I actually feel I can rest this evening  and go to bed early knowing that I have put in a good effort. Even though I would like to be further ahead and still have some bad feelings about getting behind in the past, I feel it's OK to do the other things tomorrow, which is pretty new for me. In the past I would have felt a lot of pressure to pull late nights or even all nighters to compensate for procrastination.

Thanks everyone!

I've had a good weekend with some good time off and time with friends. It was a much needed chance to recharge (I don't feel like I "deserve" it, but I do feel like I can work better now)

I'm going to take 30 min of free time to start (there are some things I want to look up online).

Then I want to:
*Spend 2 hrs working on teaching papers
*Add to D/T's doc
*Work a little on automation project (can I process image to bring out pink color better?)

Jenny's check in

It's taken me an hour just to figure out what to put here.  Composing yet another version of my To-Do list seems worse than pointless, since it's part of the problem - just thinking about it causes me to hyperventilate.  And while I realize that this is meant to be a To-Do TODAY list, I have trouble both with prioritizing and with figuring out how long things take.  Plus, assuming that things that are OVERDUE are automatically at the top of today's list, the rest doesn't even matter, because I'm already beaten before I've even started :(

So, different approach: starting with the time available, NOT the tasks to be done.  It's 1 pm now, and CSI: Miami comes on at 10.  That gives me 9 hours, a full day, with something to look forward to at the end.

It will take me at least an hour for travel back and forth, with stop at pharmacy.

I MUST SPEND at least 1 hour dealing with email.

I NEED TO SPEND at least 1 hour reading for tomorrow.

I SHOULD SPEND at least 1 hour working on applications.

I THINK I CAN SPEND 4 hours max on grading without losing my mind - in blocks of 2 & 2?

That leaves 1 hour to go to the gym, shower, and get dressed.

Guess I'd better get going - I feel already that this isn't going to work, though.  It's already 1:15.  EVERYTHING takes longer than I think it will.  So 3 hours grading?  As a goal?

We'll see how this goes...

(Jenny)

Keep coming back. This site is not a "to do" list site, it is about recovery, maintaining a healthy lifestyle and that takes support from the group. I don't procratinate like I did before finding this group, but I have a long, long way to go. However, I am grateful for the progress and try to remember to be humble enough to ask for help. Progress not perfection.

welcome jenny!

Good to have you and good to see you checking in!

I think the time approach makes a lot of sense. Figuring out how long things take is hard!

(And don't feel like you have to start with 8 or 9 hour days to start. A lot of us started with an hour or even less and worked our way up...you can be proud of an hour of good work!)

tracy-la sunday nov 14 check in

Good day everyone:

Checking in and showing up. Did affirmations, reading and gratitudes. Checked calendar.

My affirmations are: I will find a way to start & block out my schedule for a time to start. I always complete what I start.

(And I note that I am not putting a promise on when I am going to get it done.)

Will check in later today. I started today by reading the NYTimes (a potential timewaster for me) rationalizing that it's a Sunday and good way to relax. Well, it doesn't take long for me to spend 2 hours on newspapers, personal emails and losing some prime time worktime. I am a morning person and do my best in the morning.

I know with my son that there can't be exceptions to certain rules and that may be the case with me. My new motto on internet reading before I've done my work may be not to do it even on the weekends and "Suffer Not One Exception." If I allow myself to start out the day by reading for pleasure & rationalize it's a "warm up," very hard for me to let it go quickly even when I use a timer. I've let it go NOW (it's 7:30 am here) and am now working on tasks that need to be done today.

Am going to work on my billing for last week and cleaning out my in box. Going to start now and will post how much time it takes by 30 minute blocks. Spent 4 hours and got it done. Would prefer to break it up daily next week.SmileSmileSmileSmile SmileSmileSmileSmile

Inkstress Checking In

Okay, I have a major, major task I've been putting off for months and months, so it's going to take up the majority of my to-do list today.  I don't put clean clothes away, so now I have a foot-high pile of clothes on my bedroom floor.  All over the floor.  My kids don't even bother looking, they just ask me when they need something, and I don't blame them!

1. Do dishes.

2. Separate clean clothes by person.

3. Separate clean clothes by size.

4. Wash any clothes that now need washed again because of being too long on my floor.

5. Hang up all clothes that are still the right size & still clean. (Will worry about ironing another day.)

6.  Box clothes that are too small so I can give them away.

7. (Throughout my clothes task) Time my work-time & break-time so I get a lot done without feeling so exhausted I never want to tackle a big project again.

Thanks for being here, everyone!  See you tonight!

Show up (done) Get out of self, pray for HP's will and willingness to do it.

Yesterday did not work out as planned, and I was not irritated until late in the day. However I was aware of my irratations and did not project them on anyone in my way and for that I am grateful. So grateful I could check in PA, I do not have an "official" sponsor to call into daily and connect, so this site is my sponsor and I am so grateful for the connection.

New day today and may need extra tools to get going- ha ha not "may" but use all the tools I can and then some. Pray for the willingness to be humble enough to ask for help. Thanks for being here, together changing our course.
