Need to turn today around


This is my check-in for Thursday 12/11/10. It's 10.30 am and I have fallen in a bit of a hole since last night. Got very discouraged about my work. I can really relate to myy's comment about 'Getting Thicker Skin' - that's definitely part of what happens to me - one phone call yesterday set me on a downward trend.

Also still feel strange that I can't check in on the right date unless (usually) I start the thread. And I write the date backwards to most people (date first, not month)!

I hope this is not turning into a complaint. I can see I need to overhaul my long-term goals, but don't know how to schedule time for that or even how to use that time well.

Today I don't have a plan, but I am going to take a (very late) morning shower and write one when I get back. 

Ok - it's late - 12.30 pm - but at least I have a plan now.

13. Get my medication

14. Get my medicine ready for the next two weeks.

Lots of work today! a bit of a late start but that's all right.

I have some tasks from the past few days, which I am close to done with but still need to finish up:
*Finish power calcs (will do this soon)
*order FISH probes (emailed with questions about this order, waiting for them to get back to me)
*go through PCR results and figure out what to do next

Then some small tasks that I've been putting off:
*bug MK, MC  (actually, think it makes sense to hold off talking to MC for a few days)

*set up doc

*check on expts, change VAD
*get protocol

Then some large tasks:
Highest priority: Stage 1 (have made some decent progress on this, but can't finish until tomorrow b/c I need help from TE)
Lower priority: look at introns/exons, add to D/T's doc

And non-work stuff:
return lib books/order new lib books (will do this soon)
1 hr thinking about career plans
swing dancing
maybe career workshop
winter biking clothes

OK, I'll start by checking on expts, changing VAD, w., going through PCR results. Then I'll stage 1.

Crazybug CI

My inability to organize and prioritize has really been getting me down lately and has caused a lot of anxiety. I've had to resort to witing each task on one slip of paper and just try to process one at a time with out thinking of priorities. This won't work indefinitely as there are some high priority projects that are in the works.  Just keep hoping I'll get into some clear mental state that will allow me to deal with it.

For now though:

-make con folders

-balance ckbk

make report

That should take me a few hours. I'll try to come back and follow up on progress.

I've got a fever and saw doctor yesterday who took samples and I wait for results. At the moment I feel like I have flu.
