Check in

I've been sick all week, but still going to work. I start @ 1:30 pm, so this gives me some time in the morning to work on my Short Term Goals... I write them down on a sheet I copied out of the book "Body for Life'... This week I didn't get anything done... I feel like I used my sickness as an excuse to fall into my procrastination... I did use self care, like soak in a tub every morning. I did leave my house early everyday so I wouldn't fall into my old last minute 100 mile rush to work... I was able to stop and do a task on the way...   But today I will work on some short term goals off my list...... KDZEE

Re Check in

I did get a start to my short goals.... I did talk to one member of my Family & a Friend... it is always easy for them to get things done, and they know that I'm a procrastinator.... they are the codependent part of my recovery.... They don't use I statements... but a lot of you shoulds... I'm planing on moving, so i picked up twenty boxes, and started packing... iT'S ONE DAY @ A TIME, or ONE THING KNOCKED OFF MY SHORT TERM GOAL LIST... If I look @ the big Picture, I freeze, and just spin into my procrastination~KDZEE

Show up (done) Ask God to direct our thinking, especially asking that it be divorced from self-pity (, dishonest or self-seeking motives.

Read Buddha found that extreme asceticism didn't work. The road of moderation was best..He did not reach enlightenment until he stopped being so hard on himself, now there's a thought, criticizing oneself does not work!!

Thanks for being here.

Weekend Ruth

Wow, I feel like a completely different person today.  I don't have any big scary tasks looming over me, and I don't have a to-do list.  I am allowed to just kick back today, and it feels okay.  There have been other Saturdays where we had a lot scheduled, or I had a long to-do list, or I was feeling the drive to be productive in my hobby.  For today, the first two cases simply don't apply, and for the last case, I have given myself permission to let the hobby rest until I can get on better footing with work. So I want to make a good choice about how to use the next hour or so.

Went to son's soccer game this a.m., ate lunch, then played a computer game with family, and now I can do whatever I want.  Tonight there is a Halloween party in the computer game, where my hubby and I plan to meet up with our (really his) online friends.

Options (including mental to-do list):

- Buy gifts for Christmas shoeboxes for foreign kids, but I still have a couple of weeks before they're due (and I want to make my kid help, but he's playing now)

- Get my hair cut (last time I suffered with a terrible style for like 2 years), but I can live with it for today

- Read Bible or current study guide

- PA reading/writing

- Watch football (American)

- Watch murder mystery or movie

- Read parenting book (Free-Range Kids) about easing up and letting go

Well, my musing has been interrupted by the young'un.  He wants my attention, and I'll give it to him.  Maybe a board game (Risk?), or watching football.  Life is good.

Edited:  He's in bed.  We played Civilazation and watched football.  So grateful for family and teh freedom to leave work at work.

Self-Value. We have a real life of our own. Yes, we do. That feeling that others have an important, better or more organized life is a remnant from the past. It is also a self-defeating belief that is inaccurate. We are real. So is our life. Jump into it, an we'll see.  Competing with others is not necessary. Create your own life.

Today, I will live and create my life and treasure it as mine.

I'm feeling really discouraged and behind in my work. And I slept in today, which I'm really frustrated with myself about.

But I'm going to try and do the best I can. I have almost 6 hours to work today. In that time I want to:
*Clean off slides
*Look at 4 slides (or more) (instead ended up looking at one really tricky and interesting slide, so that's OK
*Work 1 hour on mouse db/colony mgmt
*Collect samples
*Make EDTA (working on this now)
*Update lab nb.
*Look at SCF splice forms

OK, I'm going to start by working on db, then I'll clean off slides, then I'll start making EDTA, then I'll collect samples.

Journey 8:30

Good morning, and thanks for starting us out Helen.

I'm getting ready for an Octoberfest luncheon tomorrow - this is my daughter's idea no mine lol.   But it'a a good thing because I had everyone over for Thanksgiving last year and I can't do it this year because I'll be working.  So might as well go with the flow!  I got up at 7, which is pretty good for a Saturday.  I have my todo list and I'm making a grocery list now.  Anything you need, add it to the list and I'll pick it up.
