Moving slowly today but trying to put my mind in a good space. The good folks here at PA are an inspiration. Thank you for being here today and for understanding.

Journey 12:30 oops
I posted on the wrong day before lol! Oh well, here is what I said:
I have a lot to do today to finish getting ready for the weekend installs. I'm overwhelmed and under-confident and these feelings are def procrastination triggers for me. I will check in whenever I find myself drifting and/or avoiding.
UPDATE 12:30 I am really struggling today. Why does it seem that the more sense of urgency I feel about getting stuff done the more likely I am to feel paralyzed and stuck? I started with some less important and less stressful stuff. Now I'm doing the really critical stuff. Now, check load addresses. I will probably be here a LOT this afternoon
UPDATE 1:50 addresses checked, double checked, loaded, and checked again. That's a major hurdle. *wipes brow*
Update 3:30 Checked batch job #1; wrote timeline for this weekend. Now to check Batch job #2. I'm on a roll now, by gum!
Update 3:45 Second batch job checked. working on a walkin request.

Hi Friends,
Nice starter Vic!!
Been denying myself coming here because I know I'll be more productive.
Things I'm procrastinating about:
-getting 0% transfer credit card
-sending $ for mik
-sending $ for shei.
-sending $ for giving purposes
-recording my food & money
-any cleaning, except laundry
-volunteer work for ARTS organ.
-working on my DA steps
-working out
I am sort of realizing that I have to let the "old" idea of who I was long ago (I used to be the opposite of a procrastinator)and work with who I am now. Also I have been hating myself less.
Wish I could come around more to re-connect with you all.
Take good care
♥Prayers & guidance needed & appreciated for my Yoffee's healing.♥

Hi Hope, I was wondering when you would "show up", now my day is complete. Thanks, Vic

Yesterday afternoon, I told the boss, within earshot of at least one other coworker, that I'd be here at 8am today. Told my girlfriend last night, and told her she couldn't come by my house to put makeup on (and slow me down) this morning.
And guess what - I was here by 8am!!!!!!!!!!!!
Needed a commitment that I could be accountable for!!
Didn't have to pay for coaching, just needed a commitment with visible accountability.
Need to be aware of these kind of visible-accountability benchmarks or milestaones with which I can reinforce my day!
Let's do more of this!!
Thanks to P-A!!
good job!
I've heard this technique called 'leveraging' and it can be very helpful for many people. For example I had a friend/workout buddy and we determined that if one of us missed a morning workout session in the morning, we would have to pay the other $5. Not I'm a majorly frugal person, so that was an excellent motivator.
However, I have found that some kinds of leveraging put me into freeze mode, ex. finishing my dissertation by a certain date. Essentially my reputation is being leveraged, that should be more important than $5, right? But for some reason it causes a major procrastination behavior on my part.
just some thoughts. But did want to say 'good for you'!! :)
Slicing the Dissertation Salami
Crazybug,
I think the difference with dssertaion, term paper, etc is it's not quick, fun, controllable. Seems to stretch out yada yada. Big stuff like that freaks me out too, just seems ominous, dreadful, etc.
Being to work at a fixed time is a much smaller slice of the salami....
congrats JestRight
that seems like a real positive change for you. It seems like this group is working for you. i know the feeling. i'm needing it today.
congrats on progress!

I know how distressing the feeling of being "stuck" can be, some reframing thoughts:
although being "stuck" is distressing, it is not "hopeless, life threatening, dangerous, or permanent". The fact that you were able to move your fingers and type in PA proves you have some control of the "stuck" and need to endorse yourself for this huge effort. You can cope with the "feeling of being stuck" with the support in PA.
You can change your behavior in "part acts" (small steps), simply "move muscles" to complete tasks, however small. The chat room sometimes helps. I hope this is not considered cross talk.
Thanks for being here, Vic

let's give ourselves the gift of peace and energy by completing one task. I'm with you.
late start :(
Stayed in bed too late and goofed for a while! but I am grateful there is still some daylight. I 'll try to break my day in smaller increments. I tend to only count the big items and I dont acknowledge all the little things.

Good Friday morning everyone,
My daily list.
1. Check in and show up - done
2. Check calendar for today and weekend - done
3. Plan to plan - done
4. Gratitude - an attitude of gratitude brings altitude!!
Quotes/Reading Material today
1. Leave when it's time to go. Take responsibility for your life and the cycle when it ends. Open your heart. Thank those who've created your world. It is time for me to leave the cycle of procrastination I have created.
2. Learning to wait. Today I am willing to learn the art of patience. If I am feeling powerless because I am waiting for something to happen and I am not in control of timing, I will focus on the power available to me by learning to wait.
There is that part of me that wants all my backlog finished now. That is the lingering part of my procrastination. It's a process. It got there over the course of years and will not go away in a month.
Have an amazing day everyone.

"There is that part of me that wants all my backlog finished now. " I think that's great, just a bit unrealistic, that's all. At least it is not the "moepey" kind of thinking.
One step at a time , Vic
It's completely
It's completely unrealistic...but someone told me "anything is possible" :)

(lennon)
Lennon, you made my day. I am flattered that I could remotely be associated with any gratitude. Thank you, (hope this doesn't mean I lost humility-ha ha ). Have a great day, Vic
Vic 10/8
Show up (done) , think it through. Showing up here is my first act of faith , my life has definitely been working better by showing up here. Not where I "want" to be but not where I was. Thanks for being here.
pm- Still plugging away. Heard another spin on "gratiude" I heard before but forgot. They said "We will always get more of what we focus on". So although "gratitude and good" thoughts do not come automatically (as my co-sponsor will attest), we know gratude is a better choice. That is not to pretend other things are not going on, but we thow all those thoughts and feelings "overboard" so we do not sink (by talking and dumping, and recycling to healthier ones. )
8pm- turned out not so bad a day. Got back an hr ago and Need to go out again to pick my son up from work at 11-12 pm, but this job is so good for him that I should pay them, can get rid of recycles, forgot cat food. Until then plug away some meore.
