Show up (done) Well my brief bout with serenity between breaths was here and gone before I knew it. Back into the storms of life, teens, police, etc. But I am still showing up.!

Frustrating day

4:35 PM: Spent the morning in court, which was a complete waste of time. The only winners were my soon to be ex-wife's lawyers, not even her. Well, ate some naughty comfort food, and will now try to make a little progress at work, despite the very late start.

Goal 1: 4:45 - 6:45 PM: 6 cases in 2 hours

Back later to report.

(((4s)))

That's tough.   Hang in there.

hope4meandu check-in (12:30PM)

Hi Fellows,

Ruined 2 interviews, because I'm so sick of being bullied. So angry at me. It's in HP's hands. Now I feel there will never be other interviews, but that's not true.

Thankfully, I cleaned last night, did exercise, did all, always feel hopeful when I'm doing the things I need to be doing.

Tonight:
-exterminators coming at 6:00PM
-very hard amends call to neighbors
-really need to finish up this volunteer work I'm doing tonight
-clean oven
-wash kitchen floors?

Scribbler's CI

Not that happy with the new guitar. May have to take it back to the shop.  Oh, well. Two steps forward, one backward. Or maybe one step forward, two backward. Today's steps:

Prep

  • get up at 7 (set alarm last night again, which seems to be helping)
  • coffee, paper, water plants
  • healthy breakfast
  • checkins

Morning

  • Query
  • Call 2 re: tabata
  • Meals on Wheels

Afternoon

  • Healthy lunch
  • Do 4 on CIO
  • Bike ride

Evening

  • Open mic
  • Healthy dinner
  • Practice setlist
  • Read, relax
  • Bed by 11

At some point soon I need to:

  • get car oil changed
  • fix downstairs commode
  • get car insurance switched
  • Install porch drip rail
  • Do second BN test post
  • Clean off desktop
  • Research hunting class
  • Recycle transmission fluid
  • Install GFCI
  • Return Sony, Beamz
  • Activate new debit card
  • Balance checkbook
  • Order new toner cart
  • Put away camping stuff
  • Call agent about new car ins

Sheesh, that's a long list of to-dos. But if they were really that urgent I'd move them up to the do-it-today sechdule. So I guess this is working as it's supposed to. Still, it looks like I'm pretty behind. Perhaps that also the way it's supposed to be.

OK, busy day today:

MITs:
*Email about getting backup prelim date (worried that I'll have to postpone my exam...and not even my fault for procrastinating, more issues with my advisor :( )
*Email about prelim proposal

*Outline of potential specific aims, run by one or two labmates, email to advisor

Next priority:
*Call PH
*Summary of potential reading
*Read about microChip
*Look at list of specific changes for ovlp genes
*Where to get supplies

*Look at two papers

Lower priority:
*Expt mgmt.
*Look at specific changes for 3 cats.
*Email IA, present
*Emails
*Get books

OK, I have a meeting now (10-12), then I'll email about proposals and backup dates and work on the scary specific aims doc.

Journey 9:15 with grumpy pants

OK, I am officially cured of getting to the gym late because this morning I saw my preacher there.   I can just imagine him walking up to me and saying, 'So, you don't have time for church, but you seem to have time for the gym.'   Surprised .  I set my alarm 5 minutes earlier this morning, meaning to get to the gym earlier, but I did it wrong and my alarm didn't go off.  This in addition to some minor family drama and an issue with a cat caused me a restless night and I overslept.   I had to cut my workout short, barely made it to work on time, again, and now I feel like I'm starting the day off tired and already behind.

COFFEE.  STAT.  Then back with a todo list.

Journey 1:30 & update

Well, it's really too late to post my todo list here lol.   This morning, I attended a very long and very important meeting for Project Z.   Project Z is a formal project and gee whiz you've never seen so much red tape and so many spreadsheets as we have here at Large Corporation.   Then I went out to lunch with friends/coworkers, first time I've been out to lunch in two weeks so we'll consider that "networking" eh?.

Now I'm going to read about all the red tape and spreadsheets that I need to produce for Project Z, probably couple hours, with *frequent* breaks because it is some kinda boring stuff.    check back at 3:30 or so.

Update 4 pm Still working on red tape and spreadsheets, making some headway.  By the end of the day, I want to have finished reading all the doc and started a list of deliverables with due dates (wow I even sound like a project manager lol).  This is boring stuff, I really prefer the technical part of my job but, it is what it is (more project manager talk haha).

Update 5:45   Done!  Packing up and heading home; this has been a long day, but I'm working from home tomorrow so that's a good thing.

Sorry chickadee, I thought it looked a bit long for a starter! Anyway, hopefully I'll get the format right next time. Many thanks
